BladeOfJustice7 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 If you could 6p him out of his stance attacks wouldn't that make them suck?
Delrian Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 You're right. Why should we be waiting? Game's out in a few weeks, let's pick a character and start playing right awa- what You mean you don't live in Japan? Scrub. ;.;
Malcopunch Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I know it's too early to judge.. but from what pepole have played. Who is the best charcter/worst charcter?
Destin Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Sol and chipp seem the closest to Jam's old style of play. Millia is really a far cry from that. Sol and Chipp can bully people on the ground with good speed.
Xtra_Zero Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 If you could 6p him out of his stance attacks wouldn't that make them suck? I doubt it. 6P doesn't automatically make other 6P-able moves suck necessarily. Even if 6P-able the risk/reward is still in Axl's favor, as if you guess wrong you lose 1/3 life and stay in the chain zone, while if you guess right all you get for damage is a 6P and the chance to get in on Axl.
Malcopunch Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 How do you think Sin is going to play..i am curious how they are going to use his flag in a 2.5D Fighting Game
White Man Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Hey guys, in the event that Jam doesn't make the cut for the console version. What other character fits the pressure-heavy/rushdown archetype from the current roster better? I-No? Slayer? Bedman. I'm not even trolling. Just think about it.
4r5 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I doubt it. You probably can 6P the mid chain, but even if you can't 6P the chain, Axl gets that favorable guessing game because you let him/he got past the stance's huge upfront cost. In the video, Axl lands a clean green chain and stances up, but Venom gets back up before Axl is even half way done. He does it again latter in the video and times it better, but Venom still gets up before he's done. They also look negative on block, and horrible on whiff. Potemkin buster from full screen? Saving your gold burst for the stance looks like an easy catch all for everyone in the cast. Or YRC tiger time?
Xtra_Zero Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I've got my doubts about it being so simple but we'll see in a few days I guess. There's a random Ringedge 2 within 5 minutes of my bumfuck nowhere apartment so I'm hype regardless.
Sophisticat Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm a bit worried about Slayer from the footage I've seen. There's nothing to indicate he's got his Slayer Damage back, but I'm at least pleased he seems to have his style more or less intact by the looks of it. I'm hype regardless of where he ends up on the tier list, though!
BladeOfJustice7 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) How do you think Sin is going to play..i am curious how they are going to use his flag in a 2.5D Fighting Game This was discussed at length a few pages back. Sin was a purely mid range character, whereas Ky excels mid to long range and Sol mid to close. Sin was best at mid range, his normals were somewhat slow compared to the other 2 but they has great reach and were hard to avoid. He had a counter stance but no DP, so I expect that to transition into Xrd when he becomes playable. His specials REALLY jacked up your guard, but once again took time to come out. He has two very interesting projectiles, the first was Voltic Eye which was a stationary projectile about the size of lvl 2 Blockhead Buster/Ky's CSE. I would like to see it make it into Xrd for his oki setups. His other was Phantom Shot which was is only long range tool, it took time to start up but dealt really good damage and had high projectile priority. Finally Sin, because he's part Gear, had an install called Exciter which slightly enhanced his specials. Also Sin's lightning is actually black, he mentions that in his intro against Ky. ... Sin strong point is the insane range of the flag, his game is in outpoking the enemy with his normals in mid range The most similar thing in previous GG is Kliff Also, Izuna is a must, I hope he subsitute Anji, in the end his Y moves is basically a sort of butterly, and he has many interesting moves and absolutely a stunning design BTW, if you're curios about overture, give it a try! It doesn't hurt, and you can find it for less than 10 dollars. Sin R.T.L is different from Ky in the game, since it hits multiple time in short dashes, and every dashes you can change direction, while Ky's one is more straightforward. His special move are: a VERY fast orizontal poke, sin thrust his flag like a spear. You can make a followup and make the point of it explode, making possible a followup. his second special is a ball of energy that you summon just around you, that does multiple hit and vanishes after a little while. Since in GG2 specials consumes tension (and you can r.cancel everything as well, even bursts) you can creates multiple ones if you wish. third one is a counter, as stated before. It allows for an easy followup, but it's punishable very easily. fourth, his 8Y is a forward trusth with multiple hits. Usually a finsher for a combo or used to punish. Areal special is simply a multiple stabbing with his flag. See that as a combo finisher. He also have "skills", witch sometimes coincide with some GG specials/overdrives (for example ky's charged stun edge, or Sol dragon install) One skill, phantom barrel, allows him to shoot a projectile, and the strenght of hit (as well of additional effects) are determined by how many friendly servants you have around. Doubt this will be in the game. Second one is humming sword, a litle bird in armor! You can see it also in the pachinko game, in gg2 it pokes the enemy and rise a lot the stun. Think of it like testament crown. Then you have exiter, wich is a buff like DI or Dizzy-ex overdrive, but i this case just buffs damage Oh, he also have a heal skill for his minions, but i doubt it will enter the game I know it's too early to judge.. but from what pepole have played. Who is the best charcter/worst charcter? I'm sorry but that's a bad question. The game isn't even out yet, and almost all of the footage that's out only once do we have people fairly competent playing for once. No one even fully has a grasp of the game's mechanics let alone who's good or not. That takes months to get even an idea of that. It's like how Hakumen at the start of BBCP loketests looked terrible, then a few weeks in looked unstoppable, and now he's an above average character. Once again sorry if I came off as mean, but questions like that aren't realistic. @Nolan, jeeze ya'll niggas wayyyyy too worried about tiers. Elven or king of hearts posted that Slayer is back to having explosive damage. The Ky player and the Axl player were the only truly competent players at the tournament, you can't compared that Slayer play (OF A NEW GAME NO LESS) of a #RAN (R.andom A.ss N.igga) playing him and expect to see what he can do compared to En/Dogura playing him. Ronove Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 From FAB, his own explanation of how RC system works in Xrd: - As the RC occurs, the game slows down by about 2-3 times its normal speed - Everything slows down with the exception of the player who RCed, hitstop increases and projectiles practically "freeze" in place. - Slow-mo duration is shorter for Yellow RC and Purple RC compared to Red RC - Slow-mo duration for the Red RC seems to be around 30 frames - When an attack connects during the slow down window, the slow effect gets canceled and speed reverts back to normal
Poultrygeist Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 We have only barely seen people worth a damn play the game, it's way too early to get your panties in a bunch over character status (although admittedly I am a little worried for Venom after what we've learned). If Slayer isn't killing it around this time next year I'll drink my own piss lol. That's how confident I am that he's still gonna be good.
TheRealBobMan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I know it's too early to judge.. but from what pepole have played. Who is the best charcter/worst charcter? If you already know that it's too early to ask the question, please don't ask. Not only are we operating on limited info from location tests, which use builds that are subject to change before the launch in a few days, but ArcSys will probably patch the game several times by the time the game has been out for 2 or 3 months to remove any major bugs and fix balance issues. There's little point in people who can't play the game speculating about who is the best when more qualified people are actively trying to balance the game at the same time. But since you asked... *uses scrub install* Top: Sol : He has an uppercut and a command throw, which is already broke, but they made his install super better and made Riot Stamp less punishable. He's too good now. Whiff VV to Purple RC is completely unfair. High: Faust, Eddie, I-No : Faust is long range AND has items. Eddie has always been good, so he'll be good again. He's not as good as Sol though because he's harder to use and his shadow dies in one hit. I-No used to be a boss character and she's easier to use now, so she'll be almost broken. Mid: Ky, Chip, Potemkin, Bedman, Slayer : Ky is good but not cheap like Faust since he doesn't get free items. Chipp is really fast but has to hit you a lot so he's fair. Pot can win in 6 hits but you can run away from him. Bedman is a new character so it'll take people a long time to figure him out, which makes him fair. Slayer is really cool but he's not cheap and his combos are hard. Low: Venom, Axl, May, Millia, Ramlethal: Venom is really hard to use because you have to know how to play with his balls, and you can probably just block them with that new Blitz Shield. I've never had problems playing against May so I'm sure she'll be bad again. Millia is really fast but can't do any damage and doesn't have projectiles, so she's like a worse version of Chipp. Ramlethal looks really cool but she can't hit anything with her super so she can't do damage and will suck. *Scrub install cooldown activates, is temporarily banned from posting to dustloop*

God I couldn't help but notice that. I was kinda thinking the same thing with this list, even though the retail version is bound to be different like you said!
Dandy J Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 yea venom is going to take a bit to figure out for obvious reasons. someone said that fino said they changed his formations every test, so anyone who even played at the tests might still be at square one as far as setups are concerned, and venom is all setup and formations. bishop runout's use/potential is also almost completely unknown at this point

DaiAndOh Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Blitz Shielding projectiles doesn't repel the character. I don't think Blitz Shielding balls will be effective. Close Slash though....hmmm
phantomBlade Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Yrc all projectiles looks really fun. I think PO might have the hardest time of all since no projectiles.
Luminos564 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Holy disintegrating babies Batman! That ending was pretty damn brutal. I wonder if anyone's got a translation on what that thing even was? It looked like some really suped-up nuke but considering this is the GG-verse it could easily have been some kind of Gear or whatever. That said, I agree that Valentine is a lot easier for a boss character in comparison to say I-no. Granted, I-no was never all THAT difficult, but Valentine likely won't hold a candle to her as a boss.
HoudiniJr100 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 You forgot Sin. he's not playable. not yet at least
