As a fellow Jam I can say I've gone Milia myself and actually been enjoying her a lot. I'm also very curious about some of that Ramlethal though, but for very different reasons :3

Ew.

Hey guys, in the event that Jam doesn't make the cut for the console version. What other character fits the pressure-heavy/rushdown archetype from the current roster better? I-No? Slayer?

Chipp or Millia for sure with maybe Sol right underneath em.

Pick May because she's got the second most annoying voice, which is why people play Jam in the first place.

You heathens.

Slayer ain't that playstyle to a degree but pick him anyways, because "SCREW THE RULES I HAVE DANDY STEP"

Also poetry powers.

I thought I was the only one who hated their voices...

A conversation on annoying voices and nobody brings up Axl? Step it up sempai.

But for Jam, um....I dunno Sol? Chipp? I've never really ventured out of my character comfort zone so I'm not sure who plays like Jam at all.

I'd say go Milla, alot of her set up is, knockdown into okizeme into pressure, but I-No with her projectile set ups and command dashes could be pretty good a sub

Millia has never been about in-your-face pressure like Jam, I don't know where you guys are getting that idea from. She's always had crazy good oki but her pressure has never been anything to write home about, if the opponent guesses right she has to take risks if she wants to keep up the pressure and she doesn't really have any fantastic blockstrings unlike other characters. The only way she can try putting some pressure is when going for Secret Garden oki and that really works only at the corner and not even against the whole cast. She's more about moving around efficiently and create the right opening with it or through her pin rather than dashing and staying in while pushing buttons. It's also one of the reasons why she needs to keep scoring knockdowns, as she does a better job at oki than keeping the opponent blocking for a long time. If you play Millia the same way you'd play Jam you're going to get murdered.

And in Xrd, if they're going to keep the changes they've implemented in the last loke test, they took out some of her gatlings and made c.S not jump cancelable anymore so to me it doesn't look like Millia isn't going to put any real pressure at all. She's going to to do her oki as usual and if the opponent guesses right it's likely going to be back playing neutral.

A special move with a large hittable box.

That thing just lost to a basic stunedge. I really doubt it'll be THAT good.

It seemed to trade favorably for Axl more than it straight up lost.

Chipp

yeaaaa chipp is a good button hitter too

like ronove said millia is about movement+mixup oki, not pressing buttons. shes really not like jam style at all

I'm sure it's just powerful because it's early. Since they still have hurtboxes on the chains and seem to not have a lot of blockstun, one might be able to punish (with or without BS), or maybe just hit the next chain preemptively.

It looks like the chains off that stance have hurt boxes all the way down the chain.

Axl's chains go with hurtbox included, that means you should be able to BS Axl. It must look akward, like when Zappa's sword is caught by Justice's Valkyrie arc at full screen. Or maybe people will be able to high jump + dash or IAD right after the 6K-style hit.

Anyway that's my wild guess.

Fair nuff, my personal playing bias is probably showing [Winger resets, 5K=>6K/Special, tandem disc super ^3^], and with that tweak, yeaaah, I'd say Sol would probably be a better pick.

I'd say it's better wait and let the game come out first, wouldn't you agree? There's just too many changes to be able to comfortably suggest any character at all.

Let the game come out and let a few months pass and then maybe there'll be enough information and material for people in order to make up their mind on which character they might like using.

Why wait a few months? Just jump right in and pick someone. Picked wrong? Still a good learning experience anyway!

You're right. Why should we be waiting? Game's out in a few weeks, let's pick a character and start playing right awa-

This post gave me gas.

Anyway, I can't wait knowing that this is going to be out on console by the middle of 2014 in Japan, meaning we'll get to import and play it this year.

If you don't know who to play, hit random. You'll probably still have fun.

They do, but the hitbox looks like it comes out at the same time as the hurtbox or even before it, which is why Venom's projectiles kept trading (unfavorably) instead of beating it. The only reason Ky is able to beat it with SE is because he has an angle where he can throw SE but not be in the way of the chain. Axl still gets the hit as long as the character is in the line of fire, regardless of whether they hit his hurtbox. Obviously they're BS- and DP-able but I really hope you can 6P them or something because so far it looks like normals won't beat them very well.
