Watching the videos, my only problem with the game so far is seeing Zato doing more damage from random hits with no tension than all other characters using 50% tension. I think that now that you need to use 50% of the tension for most of the real combos it just made the distance between Zato and other characters bigger than it used to be before.

I've watched hours of tournament footage now and have yet to even see what half the cast's Overdrives look like.

They messed with the overdrive damage values. Some seem really good (I-No, DI Sol) some seem even less useful than in AC, some characters don't even need them anymore (Axl lmfao this guy), and some just don't know what to do with them yet (Bishop Runout lol)

Just in case nobody's posted this yet: The uppercut part of Garbage Viper is not RCable on block lmao.

i dno, eddie never really needed meter to do damage in the first place. also meter gain is pretty quick in this version so i dont think the jump from 25 to 50% is that big of a loss in combos. the damage i see him getting off a random nobiru or something at midscreen seems to be around what most other chars get off bnbs...the really big damage i see him getting is when he hits you in the corner which leads to the unblockable setup which is kind of to be expected when a character has those kinds of tools. the good news is that that particular setup and maybe something off the command grab are the only unblockable setups available to him as far as i know considering he no longer has a shadow move that hits high and only the big drill hits low. i find him to be slightly less scary but who knows maybe people will find stuff that turn him into something ridiculous. his neutral game and zoning seem awesome.

It's almost strictly a YOLO move. It has application for going under projectiles and high hitboxes but it usually requires a read like in AC.

Can you RC the non uppercut part?

You can still gatling from 2H? (Right?) and is it possible to rc the bandit revolver part into a dustloop like the old days? I remember daigo doing it in his reload days

I'm not sure yet, I'm still in the process of learning to not use GV like I used to.

You can still gatling it from any normal, yes. You can probably RC into some kind of combo as long as it hits. I'll try it out.

If you tried to Roman Cancel a little while after they blocked the uppercut, then the opponent probably already left blockstun so you could only Purple Roman Cancel.

Thanks I was wondering because I wasn't around during reload days (D:) so I just watched a dust loop video to learn the bits and pieces. Gv rc is one of the starters is all.

No no, like, you can't RC at all. No purple, no red. Probably no yellow either. You just get a big red X over your character indicating NO RC ALLOWED. FOREVER UNSAFE, FOREVER IK.

I wasn't saying that you would get a Purple Roman Cancel, but rather that you went for a regular RC and got a failed PRC (because only (DI) Grand Viper can be PRC'd, it would appear). It seems like a very arbitrary decision to have Grand Viper exclusively be RCable on hit but not on block.

I mean, have DPs and other meterless reversals lost the ability to be RC'd on block?

Yes, all DP-type moves have lost RC on block afaik. Which is what seems to have happened to GV despite it not actually being a DP.

I think you're good to cancel it on block actually during the hit, but after the hit and after its active frames have ended you're going into PRC territory which is impossible on DP's.

I think.

As for Grand Viper, that move does go through a lot of stuff and then ends with the VV motion, so it possibly got lumped in with the DP's when RC rules were being divvied up.

Seems like 310 is indeed Satou from the Mikado 3v3 today, announcer introduced him as Satou!

310 is not Satou. Satou was there but he was just playing +R casuals.

Is his current state of mind "When's Johnny?" or does he think this game is ass?

good shit at mikado elven. lots of exciting matches and the final one with nemo was crazy.

I don't know. I didn't ask him. A lot of the people who are still playing +R a lot are the ones who don't have their character in Xrd yet. There was like 4 cabs of +R casuals going on during the Xrd tournament and its funny because you look at them playing and the matches feature almost all characters not in Xrd lol. I am sure some people just still like +R a lot too (I still like it but I am just focusing on Xrd now. It's not like I will never play +R again)
