UFGT may start on the 24th of May, but there's nothing wrong with getting your fill of Persona 4 Arena action before hand. Add on to the fact that the season is most certainly in danger of ending THIS WEEK.

You may be asking yourself: "What the heck is this?" It's simple! This Ranking Battle (the term of which ranbat originates,) is a way to keep competitive outside of the tournament scene, while interacting with different kinds of people!

These ranking battles will occur weekly! But there will be a slight difference as to how this one is run.

The ranbat season ends once someone amasses 50 POINTS. Once that occurs, the top SIX (6) scoring players will meet in a Single Elimination, 3/5 Tournament to determine the overall champion of the season. Be on your A-game, because the season can end either very quickly, or take quite some time.

NOTE: If the season ends THIS WEEK, there will be a one week break before the 6 man Playoff Tournament, which will take place on June 6th. After the 6 man Playoff, we will start Season 2 on June 13th!

Format: Double Elimination, 2/3 Rounds. Grand Finals will be 3/5 rounds

Character lock: Winner's character is locked, Loser can switch in between rounds

1st = 15

2nd = 8

3rd = 4

4th = 2

Participation = 1

e.g: 1st place gets 16 points (15 for winning & 1 for participation,) and so on and so forth.

Who can enter: Anyone...with a caveat (Yes...it is region based. If you are in the Eastern United States (basically wherever the NBA Eastern Conference teams are hosted, so sorry New Orleans,) you'll be fine. West Coast players, if you wish yo enter, please message me FIRST. We can then do a test to see if you can maintain a 2 bar connection. I can manage West Coast Players on my end quite well.)

FAQs

  • What if I cannot participate at a particular ranbat?
    It's no big deal. We all have lives that we must live, it is the essence of human existence. Register at your leisure.


  • How often is the Ranbat Reboot going to take place?
    Weekly, on Thursday Nights.


  • When do weekly registrations close?
    Thursday Nights at 9:45pm EST.


  • Will there be a way for us to communicate during the ranbat?
    Absolutely! Here's the instructions!

    1: Go to http://mibbit.com/
    2: Scroll to the bottom. Click the yellow button marked "Still interested? Chat now"
    3: Connect should be to "Mibbit [webirc]" (It is the default option.)
    4: Nick should be your DUSTLOOP ACCOUNT NAME (just so everyone knows who you are.)
    5: Channel = #RUIDLRanbatReboot

    Please note, everyone should be in the room by 9:55pm EST, so things can move smoothly.


  • Is there ANYTHING else that I should know?
    Yes there is, and these are some of the most important things about this ranbat.

    1) WILLFUL disconnects will incur a one (1) game penalty. If it happens a second time, that player forfeits the match.
    2) Off-Stream Matches must be reported as soon as they are finished. You can report them yourself in Challonge, to make things easier.
    3) Most importantly: Try to enjoy yourselves! This is designed to be competitive, but fun can be experienced through competition!


  • If I miss my match, what happens?
    There is a 10 minute window for your match. If you miss it, you forfeit your match. If you will be late, PLEASE feel free to e-mail me at clintonbowman@outlook.com


  • Will there be weekly updates?
    Yes! Check out Hit-Confirm Live every Thursday night at 9pm for the score updates, as well as for any updates to the rules. You can also go to The Official Hit-Confirm Live tumblr page!

Gonna sit this one out considering I got frustrated last week and pulled a dick move. Def. will be watching though, will be interesting to see if 2 people can stop Tectal from ending this.

I want to enter but I notice that Tecal has been winning and I know for a fact that when we play the connection is unplayable. How would you handle that if we run into each other in the bracket?

It's based off of my connection usually. Soooooo...most of the time when Tectal faces someone, it works out fine. If it disconnects, I'll work out a solution that's best for everyone.

I am going to sign up despite my earlier post, must rep Chie because TRIAL OF THE DRAGON. Also I'm an idiot who got salty and copped out of loser's bracket last week because I lost two matches in a row. I apologize to everyone involved and the fighting game god(goddess?).

I've have only won two of these out of the 4 that have been played already.

I have only lagged badly during the 1st week of these. I got DQed for it. Other than that my connection has worked fine during each ranbat like Young Navigator said. Everyone that has played me during these ranbats could vouch for this. If my connection has acted up on random outside of the ranbats then I'm sorry. How am I suppose to know I'm going to lag if it happens on random? If this is about BB yesterday, then I'm sorry I got online and I had internet issues. It doesnt happen every day or all day. I recently started using a newer Ethernet cord today and my connection worked fine on multiple games after resetting my modem. It should keep working well in the future like how it used to.

If you feel like I'm lagging too hard or anyone else feels like my connection causes them to lose to me or is unplayable then just don't play me or ask for me to get DQed then. Its only netplay anyway.

I agree, you can't always expect flawless connections online anyhow, because I mean it is Netplay and a number of factors can induce lag. However, I have had nearly a flawless connection with Tectal today.

GG's everyone. My Trial of the Dragon will have to wait until next season after I go train in the woods and fight a bear or something.

Is this done often? I was thinking about doing something similar since I got my net situation fixed and a new capture card but I don't want to impede on your event.
