Luminos564 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 @Lumison I have one thing to say about the part with Elizabeth. "You are builting up to something which you would make an entire game base on, and you are going to just use it as an excuse to bring one character into the game without any built-up between the end of the first game and the beginning of the next game." Except that one character is the focal point for a lot of characters and is the entire source of Lizzie's own motivation. I didn't say that he SHOULD be revived, but rather that if the developers wanted to, they could since they already established a fantastical world. Also note that I said the matter between him and Lizzie should be "addressed", as in resolved. That doesn't necessarily mean a revival, but it does mean letting us know Lizzie's plan and ultimate result of it.
Zeik56 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 If anything, I'd argue that if this subject doesn't get addressed, then it trivializes Lizzie's actions in P4A. Now that they've introduced that storyline they need to wrap it up, but I hope Atlus has enough integrity to not end that with his revival. I know Arena is basically just a big fanfic, but that's pretty much the king of Persona fanfic material. Hey, what's that about shadow characters gameplay wise? I mean, are they like unlimited chars (broken as hell/not useful) or are they part of the core gameplay? They don't seem as broken as Unlimited, but it's too soon to say whether they're balanced. I get the feeling Arc wants them to be though.
Narroo Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The Reaper made his first appearance in P3, so there. And no. I will not stop bringing him up because I want him in that bad @Lumison I have one thing to say about the part with Elizabeth. "You are builting up to something which you would make an entire game base on, and you are going to just use it as an excuse to bring one character into the game without any built-up between the end of the first game and the beginning of the next game." Why can't it be like Mu-12 from Blazblue? She pops up at the end of the story.

I don't think the P3MC should come back..however Igor has more power than pepole realize and can bring back the dead back to life but he only does it when he has to. Igor brings back Shinjiro back to life in order to help stop Erebus for good who had bringed Ryoji from the dead and is under Erebus's control (Ryoji has the Persona of Death). This could lead into Ryoji and Shinjiro being the final 2 Charcters..just a theory

I know Arena is basically just a big fanfic, but that's pretty much the king of Persona fanfic material. Clearly you do not read many fanfics . Fanfics usually take some very...big liberties with the source material so that they can go do their own thing. Though ATLUS should tread carefully since they claimed Arena was canon for P3/P4. I don't think the P3MC should come back..however Igor has more power than pepole realize and can bring back the dead back to life but he only does it when he has to. Not to put a damper on your theory (which I kinda like save for the brainwashed Pharos/Ryoji) but when has Igor ever revived a character before? I'd have thought that the reason Lizzie left the Velvet Room was because she realized that as long as she's there, she cannot help P3MC (bound to forever wait for guests and offering a helping hand but never directly interfering with their lives).

P3MC was used a seal for Nyx..he couldn't not come back..Ryoji and Shinjiro are dead. There is a difference..
Luminos564 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 P3MC was used a seal for Nyx..he couldn't not come back..Ryoji and Shinjiro are dead. There is a difference.. So reviving a person whose soul has already passed on and body has already rotted away is easier to bring back to life than a soul currently serving as a seal and is readily available (if you know where to find it)? Said soul is also one of the most powerful MCs in Persona existence that managed to seal off humanity's desire for self-destruction and has been at the job for years now. Also, Ryoji isn't technically dead. He's with Nyx on the other side of the Great Seal.
Wild Candy Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 They shouldn't bring back the MC of P3, it would just destroy the entire message of P3. (Everybody dies) (If you don't know what this means, play the game or look up the plot on google.)

I'm not saying it's the worst fanfic ever written, but it is pretty fanfic-y subject matter. Ignoring romance pairings, obviously.
Malcopunch Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 "Sigh" You know what i don't care anymore..i am just wondering where do you think the story is going to go in Persona 4 Arena 2..
The Fool Arcana Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) This argument gets tossed around like it has some kind of debilitating illness. You have a world where characters can shoot themselves with a magic air-gun to summon a supernatural representation of their inner psyche. A world, where robotic automata can develop human feelings and super-special people can jump inside a TV screen to punch other people's inner demons away. And this is not including the otherworldly 3rd powers like Elizabeth and Igor who can one-shot kill manifestations of all the world's collective subconscious by tossing it to the moon. And that's disregarding Philemon and Nyaralthotep. So if you have all of this, how is it a totally unacceptable stretch that Makoto/Minato/P3MC might be revived? If anything, I'd argue that if this subject doesn't get addressed, then it trivializes Lizzie's actions in P4A. The ridiculousness of the world has absolutely nothing to do with this. The way I see it, reviving a character from a meaningful death is undoubtedly one of the biggest ass pulls in any form of media. It's emphasized even more here considering the finality of death was one of the major themes of Persona 3. Why on earth should the narrative have to suffer just because some people want to play as him? Edited August 17, 2013 by The Fool Arcana
TPPR10 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Maybe we should cut this talk about P3MC out before the mods start getting mad. Just a friendly suggestion.
Wild Candy Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Maybe we should cut this talk about P3MC out before the mods start getting mad. Just a friendly suggestion. Yeah, agreed. How does everyone feel about the nerfs and buffs for the characters so far? Do you think its balanced, Is there more that could be done? I'm actually glad there tuning Chie down a bit, the bitch had way to many ways to steal the match off of one hit! I'm also glad there buffing up Elizabeth a bit to, she really needed it. I'm not sure how i feel about Naoto's changes though... But it's too early to tell anything right now.
Pete278 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) I could understand if they wrote some way for Elizabeth to save him, but just outright resurrecting him would make the ending of Innocent Sin even more depressing. EDIT: I totally suck at refreshing threads before posting, just for everyone's information. Edited August 17, 2013 by Pete278
Malcopunch Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I have gotten a even less likely character suggestion..if this game is not coming out till summer 2014 in Arcades..what if the final two charcters were actually from Persona 5 which we know is going to be announced very soon..maybe at TGS. They could promote Persona 5 by putting in two charcters from it into Persona 4 Arena 2..i am sure that ASW is working closely with Atlus so it's just an idea. Maybe Persona 4 Arena 2's story could lead into Persona 5..
ElegantShadow Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Yukari vs. Yu ... Did Yukari just use Naoto's Anti-S SP Pistol ß? I have to say that, though she does look fun to use and I do plan to main her, I was expecting something a bit more... Mu-esque. Also, she looks like she may have a neutral game that rivals Yukiko's, judging by how her Specials seem to work. Edited August 17, 2013 by ElegantShadow

OutlawVinegar Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J92BT_vmuU Hey. Was Yukiko able to reach Fire level 9 before? I could've sworn it was 8? She's at level 9 around 45s in this video.
Luminos564 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The ridiculousness of the world has absolutely nothing to do with this. The way I see it, reviving a character from a meaningful death is undoubtedly one of the biggest ass pulls in any form of media. It's emphasized even more here considering the finality of death was one of the major themes of Persona 3. Why on earth should the narrative have to suffer just because some people want to play as him? Because another one of the messages was that death, while inevitable for mortals, is not simply an end but rather a transition for them (hence the arcana and their meanings being used to influence the narrative in some small way). And I'll repeat, I never said that P3MC should be revived. Rather that if ATLUS wanted to, they could revive him very easily (though not necessarily in his human form). The narrative ain't going to suffer simply because Lizzie accomplishes what she set out to do and since she's not human, the concept of a mortal's life and death are not exactly best applied to her. How does everyone feel about the nerfs and buffs for the characters so far? Do you think its balanced, Is there more that could be done? I remain happy with the changes made so far with Lizzie, though am keeping myself from being too swept up in it. She definitely looks better during that loketest footage but then again it IS just a loketest. Her final standing may not be anything like this after all. Still, I like what I see so far.

She's at level 9 around 45s in this video. Yes, she can now reach level 9 with Fire Break. I think she has a new super which requirers her to have level 9 charge
Luminos564 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Yes, she can now reach level 9 with Fire Break. I think she has a new super which requirers her to have level 9 charge I only heard her new super requires level 6 fire. Level 9 is just another way to say "Yukiko can now melt your face off even faster than before". Ironic considering her name carries the word "snow" in it.
Akiro Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 man I hope Yukari gets a new super before the loc tests are done, the one she has now doesn't make me go "wow" at it at all and looks really meh when it does hit someone.
Rhiya Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Right now, are people separating normal and shadow charas for changelists at all? I'm thinking we're gonna get serious confusion about actual changes unless people start noting this.
