I was under the impression that "new version" always referred to a new balancing. Although it's kind of an ambiguous term, since even if you fixed bugs and stuff, it'd still be a "new version", technically.

I'm sure most people would consider CP1.1 a new version of CP, like people consider +R a new version of GGAC.

Right, so I guess it's hard to make any assumptions about what this will consist of other than from how they announced it.

It's honestly confusing, they might even be adding a char (they often do that in the course of their arcade games life (Liz/Labrys/SLab in P4U, in BBCP they added chars over the months etc)) and they'd call it a new version.

It's very likely they will be adding Adachi right? RIGHT?!

It was never terrible. It might be slightly in Elizabeth's favor but as an Aki player, it's pretty even in my opnion.

She controls more space than Aki and he'll have to play very carefully in neutral. If he gets past that, she... can't do much, honestly. Aki's damage/mixup is too strong for her to deal with.

So in that matchup both characters gameplan is to get the first hit and keep the momentum until the round ends like in P4A again? That didn't change much.

If you consider it like that, it's a pretty even match. I always thought it was worse since it's a personally bad matchup for me.

Anyway, at least Liz got an even match, right?

I wouldn't say so anymore for P4U2. Akihiko's damage has diminished sure, but he's got some real nasty ways of ruining Lizzie's day now (like being able to induce silence for one). His damage, while somewhat lowered from P4A, remains fairly consistent while Lizzie's has both dropped and struggles to match it. Personal opinion? Match is now more towards Akihiko's favor, though still not as bad as say Lizzie vs. Yu, Mitsuru, Teddie and pretty much everyone else that isn't Labrys.

Now, Falco252 brought up an interesting point: since they already released the mook with all the frame data, is it really possible we could be getting a re-balance patch? I dunno. If they released the new version in a month (date has not been mentioned has it?), wouldn't that make the mook inaccurate information then? A part of me really wishes for it but at the same time, I don't want to get my hopes up, y'know?

French Bread did it with UNiB, so it could be a possibility. The UNiB mook doesn't have all the characters since it's from the first version iirc. It's not really a big deal if they're posting (frame data) change logs though, I guess.

Yeah but Ex Late feels much more like an extension, and it was mandatory because UNIB needed it, they changed a loooooooooot from unib to uniel. But if we skip that, yes of course it's possible, some mooks companies release 3 or 4 edition of a non FG mook iirc, so that's not really a problem, it's just a pretty bad idea imo.

(But still, "update" is quite vague was my original point, no use speculating or getting our hopes up.)

So certain characters such as Yosuke and Kanji regularly use their dial A combos in their BnBs, which directly results in increased meter/Burst gain.

Has that made a difference in competitive play at all?

Posted

Well, Yosuke does use a lot of meter and bursts so it may be a good idea to use the autocombos. Did they get buffed or anything?

Doubtless it affects them and how they're played, but Teddie and Mitsuru use their autocombos frequently as well, not to mention Akihiko using his as an ender/side swap. Narukami does sometimes as well since it still leaves him at advantage.

Long story short, Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie and Mits all have better autocombos. While the damage on them is roughly the same as before, they all provide positioning the character wants for their gameplan; Yosuke and Kanji can very easily use their air specials to provide the hard knockdown they want for their offensive game, and Teddie/Mits give them a respectable amount of corner carry and/or can be Super-canceled to give them more damage than a jab ought to warrant.

Holy crap. Remind me not to piss off any Shadow Mitsuru players. That was just plain scary. Granted it is off a Fatal Counter 5B, but considering it isn't all that hard to achieve with Mitsuru, I think we have a very good reason to fear her Shadow version.

I you watch the entire video, you'll see that she can do 7K or more of that combo without being FC.

I think the scariest thing about that combo, is that she managed to gain 100 meter from it to go into Shadow Berserk. Though she did get the first hit bonus as well.

The scariest thing about that combo is not having a burst when she goes berserk. Seriously, I don't even remember the last time I saw so many supers and damage. Except in Marvel of course.

Oh cool, the myriad arrows full charge combo didn't get shafted by shadow mode scaling.  That was like the main interest I had in Shadow Mitsuru was if she'd be able to do it since her meter grows fast enough that it should be easier.

Persona Stalker Club will have a episode in April of 25th (I think its April) what will show some exclusive gameplay to Persona Q and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Where its unknown if it will show anything new, do keep your eyes out for it.

I wonder if we can get a release date out of this? More than "summer" I mean.

"Exclusive gameplay" does sound like something we haven't seen yet.  If I had to guess it would be the new version/rebalance that's supposed to be coming out or a look at the console version.

Silently prays for Elizabeth buffs If I were a betting man (which I am not) "Exclusive gameplay" can mean either of 2 things to me:

1. The game is being rebalanced.

2. A new character reveal.

If you're feeling incredibly gutsy, it could be both. Another potential outcome, though I highly doubt it'll be the case, is that the game is rebuilt/receives an overhaul. Kinda like how UNiB went to UNiB: EXE-Late or how Skullgirls became Skullgirls: Encore later. Both cases take the original and then expand on it to make it its own entity. It is still the original game, but improved upon.

The blurred footage... neither character in it appears to be a preexisting one. The one on the left appears female and also a shadow (has the glow), has some sort of projectile move that I don't remember any other character having as well as a persona attack that shoots lights. The one on the right looks kinda short.

I've got no clue about the left, my only speculation is maybe it's an avatar of NYC similar to Ryoji.

Short guy makes me think Ken possibly.

The one on the left wears pink clothes, has blond hair which looks like it's tied in a ponytail fashion and throws some sort of projectile to the ground. (unless they were using alternate colors) Her persona can shoot a stream of small, greenish balls almost in a line.

The one on the right looks like a male, could have red hair and can shoot a pink projectile that goes in some sort of a wavy pattern. His persona has a distinct red color in something that might be it's hair and can do a slow teleport using wind and a air dash also using wind.

I don't remember seeing anything like that in any other version of P4A. We're looking at new characters here, but who could they be?
