Arcus Diabolus Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 While we're on the topic of tiers, another peeve of mine is people who use low tiers just so they can be "hip". Well, I'm sort of like this but not quite. Its more along the lines of "If I can beat their SS kokonoe with my mid B tier Noel, does that make me a better player??" Although in truth this is more related to the fact I've been playing Noel and Ragna since CT.

Oh yeah, another peeve: Players who never try to help newer players out. This is why games like GG have such a small playerbase......
Arcus Diabolus Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I believe that skill makes you better. Play against the player, not the character. I agree. Its just a friend of mine firmly believes that if two players are of equal skill fight and one uses a much higher tier, he wins. My statement just now was more or less my counter argument to that. =D
Poultrygeist Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 While we're on the topic of tiers, another peeve of mine is people who use low tiers just so they can be "hip". Oh my fucking god this. People who instantly flock to the worst character in the game because they want to be a special snowflake are the god damn worst. Especially when they try to take the moral high ground for it. Bonus points for people who use "BUT I WAS USING BULLET!" as an excuse when they lose and then are "LOL I BEAT YOU WITH BULLET GIT GUD" when they win. Fucking scrubs.

The "I lost because I picked low tier" excuse is such garbage. You picked the character at the character select screen, so you have no one to blame but yourself when you lose.
Airk Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 And those reasons are partially why I started using Izayoi (plus Relius was getting boring). If I'm in a player match lobby and people start the tier whoring routine, I just start winning with her. I play my stable based on technical difficulty, not "cheapness" And when you can win with Relius and not with Izayoi, what is your conclusion? "Tiers don't matter"? I never really liked Tier lists in general, mostly because people refuse to play anything below S or maybe A tier unless they are new as hell. Oddly, I've never really noticed a big correlation between 'high tier' and 'picked a lot' or even 'low tier' and 'not picked much'. Tager has been low tier for ages and there's been no shortage of people playing him. Tao and Valk have been good forever and I hardly ever see them online. As Errol pointed out, at the level most of us play at, "easy" is more important than "high tier". THAT, IMHO, is where you see the correlation - Jin, Ragna, Hazama and Arakune to some extent, Tager, Noel. Not Tao, Valk, or Carl, regardless of where they fall in the tier list.

I think that's because he's top-tier in low-tier play where people are making mistakes all the time and don't get off the most damaging combos when they finally get a hit in.

Angry Guy of DE Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Lose to a person because it took a match to figure out their habits, like mashing DP on wake-up. Play the person again, completely wreck their shit because you downloaded them. Person never accepts challenge again. Get constant 0 bar challenges for the next 10 minutes...

I was speaking in terms of subs. And yes, tiers shouldn`t matter especially if people believe they`re so good btw, I mentioned Relius because I subbed him in Extend :P

Believe it or not, that happened between me and my friend last night. He picks Kokonoe. I lost a few against him because I barely play that matchup and she annoys me. After a while, I discovered that fat lasers with Mu shuts down most of her options so I start abusing them. I start winning. He calls Mu bullshit. What the bloody hell. -__- And don't even get me started on the 0/1/2 bars rant. I try to play 3/4 bars because for some reason I get screwed over in 2 bars. No, 2 bars challenge me repeatedly despite the lag spikes and the random slowdown that seems to occur.
Arcus Diabolus Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 This is more local, but a friend of mine refuses to look at the command list for whatever reason. Views it as cheating I suppose. The other friends I have on the other hand think DDs and Astrals are the only thing on the list you need to know. Very rarely will someone go into Challenge mode to learn things they should know.
Doonpa Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I think a good portion of the BB cast are just POSs to fight online and they happen to be relatively common characters like Kokonoe, Noel, Jin, Tager, Bang, Mu, etc. So i'd say just netplaying BB in general is pretty friggin irritating. Also, it really irritates me that even after all this time, the vast majority of people who've been playing BB since CT/CS1 and are playing CP still rely on really dumb netplay tactics like indiscriminately mashing, YOLO IADs, not blocking, purple throws, random AHs, overheads xN, etc. Putting lag into the equation and trying to deal with all this and more is not a pleasant experience and usually leads to me just stop netplaying immediately after a really distasteful match because its definitely not helping me appreciate the game and I'd rather not dislike a game for the retards who play it like that.
Poultrygeist Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Don't forget Azrael. The average netplay Az isn't really a difficult opponent but they sure as shit are an obnoxious one. Backdash everything and GROWLERRRRR every time on the defensive.

Starlight777 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 When you sit down and think about it, almost the entire playable cast of BB is annoying to deal with in one way or another. It sometimes feels like I could count on hand the characters I like fighting opposed to the ones I despise.

And actually, there are several characters who don't have ANYTHING that I can see being annoying to deal with. They are usually low tier. :P

For me there are only annoying players, it always depends on the player you fight if it would be annoying or not.
Arcus Diabolus Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Sometimes mics can be a hassle. I mean, if you are polite and are willing to help out players learn, you are cool, but everyone who doesn't is either annoying and wont shut up or are plain assholes.

And actually, there are several characters who don't have ANYTHING that I can see being annoying to deal with. They are usually low tier. :P The ones I don't mind in the least are basically mid-tier and low-tier as well. Anyway I'm just bad at BB so that's probably why a lot of the cast peeves me lol. For me there are only annoying players, it always depends on the player you fight if it would be annoying or not. You have a point there, a player's skill and strategy play a huge role in how annoying a character can be. It's like playing against a Terumi who 6Cs at every moment and then playing against an actual good one the next match.
AchedSphinx Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Sometimes mics can be a hassle. I mean, if you are polite and are willing to help out players learn, you are cool, but everyone who doesn't is either annoying and wont shut up or are plain assholes. There are two kinds of mic situations. Situation one is where the lobby is mics only and the people kick you if you don't have a mic or don't talk. Situation two is where the room has mics, but the people talking are being really annoying and obnoxious. I don't like either of these situations since I rarely use a mic for a fighting game (I don't see the point). Personally, I steer clear of any room that has a mic and a bunch of people talking at once. Mics are perhaps my number one pet peeve with 0 bars being a close second.
StylisH Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Strangely enough, mics don't bother me that much. I usually just mute people anyway
tetora_desu Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 You make a lobby and lose thinking "oh it's okay i'll just get a runback no problem". Lobbies full, ONLY after you lose. This happens way too much.

It sometimes feels like I could count on hand the characters I like fighting opposed to the ones I despise. Tbh the only characters I hate playing against are Mu and Noel. I would rather battle Tetsu's Koko than either of those two. I'm fine with everyone else although Hazama and Litchi will get on my nerves sometimes. You make a lobby and lose thinking "oh it's okay i'll just get a runback no problem". Lobbies full, ONLY after you lose. This happens way too much. Haha yeah this has happened to me way too many times. I usually end up leaving if it takes too long or if the matches I'm watching aren't entertaining.
