The reason why valk upsets me is because if you don't kill him the second you get him to block, if he finds an opportunity to jump out, you might've just lost the match. I mean, does valk have any bad MU's? Granted, a lot of the top tiers dont have bad MU's, but Valk and Tao are the ones that generate the most salt from me.

I doubt Tao has any. The guy who got me into BB plays a mean Tao and he makes her look almost broken. As for Valk, I have troubles with some match-ups (Tao, Nu, Litchi, Bang) but I feel its more about how well you take advantage of his defense. If your character has good mix-ups and ways to reset pressure (Litchi, Rachel, Bang, Kok-annoy etc) you can beat him.

It's just that his neutral and mix-up are insane and ironically you have to be really good at both to beat him.

Tao, Litchi, Azreal (?), and Kokonoe are a few matchups where he can have a hard time. And thats not counting his more even matchups either such as Ragna (Shoutouts to Ragna buttons making the matchup feel 6-4 instead of 5-5), Relius, Carl, and Rachel.

Valk is only as threatening as you perceive him to be, he actually has the same advantages against characters that lose to the other A/S Tiers. It's a shame we don't have more people in NA playing him so people would be more comfortable with the matchup. And like StylisH said, he crumbles under strong pressure. Get that old man blocking.

I thought Az and Carl were pretty good fot Valk. Got some homework to do.....

They're more or less even. Azreal locks him down and kills him in 2 combos on top of his backdash adding a second guessing game to oki. Carl can play neutral against him really well when spaced right, and is able to lock him down and reset him to death.

I just personally get steamrolled by Azrael because I play too respectfully, and this is motherfucking Azrael we are talking about, the undisputed king of giving no fucks.

Speaking of Azrael, my new peeve: Laggy sentinel dump going over w.5A. Why.

Wait was this me?

I thought I was acting as gimmicky as usual the entire time.

Sounds like pretty good balance to me.

Not youuuu silly. o no

As an Azrael main, I can confirm that I can get away with a lot of bullshit I really shouldn't be able to do. Lots of gaps in my blockstrings don't seem to exist in netplay.

Yeah I know it's a double post, but it just came to mind....

People who undermine you winning a match, simply because of your tactics, character, rank, hell even your costume color (I'm serious on that one).  If I lose, I learn from it, congratulate the other guy, and move on.  Some players forget that it's just a game after all.  When I can pay bills or score points with the ladies by playing fighting games, then I'll be a bit more serious.  Until then, IT'S JUST A GAME.

This happened to me yesterday fighting a jin in mics room with friends i was fighting a Jin and i got called a weak masher 'cause i kept getting away with pan overheads and grabbing him out his moves (well just getting away with grabbing him in general) My mic was off at the so i heard him curse at me and called me weak. i had told him to relax but he laterleft & made room aptly titled: "Mash N get kicked"

But isn't the core purpose of fighting games is to win by any means?

If he left holes in his pressure to be mashed out of, he can't really blame anyone but himself.  I thought Jin thrived on resets and frame traps  :?:

I hope not, otherwise we'd have people mod their stuff to cause offline lag xD. But yeah, I guess you just use what your opponent falls for till they dont fall for it anymore. Though I have an issue with doin pink grabs, even if they meant the win to a round. Should I feel bad about using pink grabs like this? xD

If they're mashing, they're not teching throws.  Make them choke on pink until they get the message.

Finally being in the mood to play and presto! PSN update! x.x

New pet peeve: Ranking down someone.

I know people don't really care about the color of the square, but I still feel bad for whoever it happened to.

They will get over it. Better them than you. That moment of weakness will cause you to lose games. You think they will cry if you get demoted? No. Quite the opposite in fact.

Posted

Oh believe you me, I never hold back against anyone. Square color be damned, I treat every opponent like a Pink. It's just something I noticed after the match, and I was somewhat saddened by it.

Posted

Eh, I feel bad too, 'specially when I do it to someone I know. No matter how much I claim to feel nothing for my rank, I feel a steady sinking whenever I lose my pink rank, which is often.

Still they'll get over it every time just as I do, and they'll get better every time just as I do, and the next pink they get they'll fight to hold onto longer just as I do.

I think people are talkin' about color squares... maybe.

I don't really care if I lose my square color through fun, legit, or learning matches where I either get bodied or it's a very close match.

But if I lose it cause netplay or just stupid stuff then I will be mad for like 3 minutes and be fine after lol.
