MattyD315 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Hey guys, to start Im using a 360 pad with the "transforming" dpad. Ive been getting stuck in bad situations all day because of these imputs. To be specific Adons Jaguar Kick and Tooth. I know I know its not directly about an air dasher, its just these just happen to be the ones plauging me now. It happens all over the place in GG + BB for me also. But doing a DP towards your characters back while getting mixed up hard up front just seems to be beyond me. This seems to be one of his bnb skills to work with, like, ALOT. And Im just getting blown up trying the half circle input as well. mostly the 632146 to be honest, but even without the forward input it seems near impossible for me to get all the right things to register. So I gues i was wondering if others had similar issues and could offer what worked for them? I usually just switch to the analog stick briefly for the half circle, but that seems more like a bandaid wne in an intense fight. but the DP is waht worries me most. I can DP towards action all day but this new concept of trying to use it in this weird way makes my head hurt lol. Anyone know where Im coming from and have some enlightening tips for me? Other than "deal with it."
Narcowski Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) There's no magic fix for execution. All you can do is practice till it feels right. For 421, try learning some of ABA's Goku Moroha combos, maybe? They'll be useful come +R, so you might as well. f.S 2H 421H IAD j.? 41236S \/ (~stuff) Edited September 27, 2013 by Narcowski

Airk Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Just to add a little bit of advice here; When practicing, don't do this: HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button,HCB+Button, and then decide that you can totally do this motion whenever you want, because you can't. All you practiced, really, is doing HCB+Button after HCB+Button. Try practicing like this: Walk backwards: HCB+Button, crouch block, HCB+Button, walk forward, HCB+Button, three light attacks, HCB+Button, walk backwards, HCB+Button, jump foward, HCB+Button, etc. i.e. do the motion in as many different situations as you can imagine. This will be closer to the sort of thing you'll need to do in an actual match than doing HCB+Button x N.
Celerity Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Backwards DP is just a DP from the 2P side. Even if you're playing a character like Ryu, you need to learn them. There are a couple of ways to think about it: (Forward, then a fireball motion), or (Forward, then neutral, then down-forward). The former should work for you 90% of the time, but there will be certain games and situations where the extra forward input will get you into trouble. The latter works because you're playing on pad and it's basically impossible to hit clean diagonals, so if you just tap forward and then naturally send your thumb down to a 2/3ish location, it will give you both. That's basically what I've trained myself to do. For half-circles, kind of the same story. You'll almost always get a half circle if you just lazily roll your thumb from back to forward. The less you think about it, the easier it becomes. Also, for 641236-type motions, there may be times when it's easier to just do a 360. If you keep having trouble, the best advice I can give you is to buy a better pad. PS2 pad + adapter is what I'd recommend. But, there are plenty of people who can execute consistently on the pad you've got, so practice will also eventually prevail.

This will be closer to the sort of thing you'll need to do in an actual match than doing HCB+Button x N. Seconded, makes a training session feels less of a boring grind as well as practice for a move to come out whenever you want and not just whenever you're ready and comfortable. There are a couple of ways to think about it: (Forward, then a fireball motion), or (Forward, then neutral, then down-forward). The former should work for you 90% of the time, but there will be certain games and situations where the extra forward input will get you into trouble. And just for that 10%, learning it correctly is better than grinding DP motions later on to actually get it right.
NecroTheReaper Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 For 421 inputs ive had success with 214214 and 4214 just to get it out. Of course, the straight 421 is best but it started me off
