TekkamanArk Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Here's hoping for no additional Makoto nerfs, and that Kagura and Azrael don't get hit too hard.
NecroTheReaper Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 All he needs is 6B to hit overhead really. Then his pressure would be strong and mixup would exist lol
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Hmmm... Why is Celica on that cover image grouped with all the "new" playable characters? It's not like she's playable or anything and it's not some fanservicey LE cover. New heroine bitches. I seriously hope they buff some of the lesser characters; Amane, Kagura, Bullet, etc. etc. Don't make them godly, just make them not suck.
Luminos564 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Hmmm... Why is Celica on that cover image grouped with all the "new" playable characters? It's not like she's playable or anything and it's not some fanservicey LE cover. Probably because of how much of role she played in the story or maybe just to break the trend. She technically is a "new" character, just not a playable one (that we know of). Or maybe she's incredibly popular in Japan or something and this is just fanservice to showcase her popularity. This game is prided on the fact that it takes skill to play, and I would love for it to stay that way. All games take skill to play, regardless of how "easy" or "hard" it might be for the individual player to grasp. Especially in fighting games where so much work is actually needed to develop said skills. What one player finds easy, another might consider the hardest thing they've had to learn. Are we to deny the time and effort someone put into a character simply because that one character can dominate like nobody's business if the player knows how to use them? But, I'd rather not steer this into a Kokonuts-centered topic so take from this what you will and I'll not press the issue further. Edited January 29, 2014 by Luminos564
Myoro Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 So a lot of Vita games are PS3 compatible (that is to say you can face a PS3 player with your vita copy of the game.) If that's true of this vita version, then we can expect any updates to gameplay (Including potentially Celica) to show up on the PS3 version as well, right?

It's not like she's playable or anything and it's not some fanservicey LE cover. An interesting observation. There might be a small chance that they're planning to add her in to give people even more incentive to play the arcade version more. Looking back at BBCS, it was pretty much the same. Platinum was exclusive to arcades for some time for BBCS2 and the same with Relius for Extend. I wouldn't mind seeing another character in the roster personally. This is a feature that the developers program in themselves and there's no guarantee they'll add it in to this game. Most likely, we'll have to wait a few months for the PS3 patch to give arcades some time to enjoy it.
Kurushii Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Arcades are getting the update in March. Vita is April 24th. PS3 most likely will be a month or two behind the Vita.
redsilversnake Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Considering ArcSys' track record* and what seems to be their design philosophy**, all this talk about the rebalance is pretty silly. *One game, maybe two, that didn't turn out to be horribly busted. **It seems very likely that they don't really prioritize character balance, and instead focus on stuff like, "is this cool/interesting," or, "how do we want this to add to the character," without really thinking about whether it makes sense or is too strong/weak.
someonewhodied Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Heres to hoping that Nu's swords get just SLIGHTLY bigger. Like a 2 pixel in each direction buff for the hitbox would be nice and would help me immensely, but its just wishful thinking...... Actually fuck that. Make nu's Supra Rage a real DP
Luminos564 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Make nu's Supra Rage a real DP By real DP you mean one with Inferno Divider level of I-frames? If yes, then frak that idea straight into the Legacy Edge. If no, then carry on.
BloodWolF Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I think Nu is fine the way she is, honestly. I admit that having no reversal and being corner raped can be frustrating, but I think it forces us to take advantage of our mobility and makes the game a little more exciting at times. She does decent damage given meter/gravity/mode/positioning, so making keeping track of it all keeps the game from becoming dull.
someonewhodied Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Well we lost the amazingness that 6D had in CSE. Like I still aim based on CSE's drive size. So many whiffs We lost grab invul on gravity seed. We only have half of our distortion invul. (Like only in one form) I think we should get SOMETHING with invul or at LEAST grab invul to compensate.
Master Of Chaos Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 The Ragna community would like you to know that getting stabbed and annihilated by Psycho-Yandere was only funny the first game. Please do not buff Nu and make us suffer. ...Real talk though, I thought Nu was pretty good for this iteration.

You are fukt now. 50 heat, a burst, or ggs. She has no defense capability. Now I just stare at frame data for like an hour each day learning where to poke out.

Woah woah woah there SWD. Nu does NOT need a DP. Us rushdown characters work really hard to get in on her after getting stabbed half to death by a bunch of swords. The saddest thing would be to get wakeup DP'd back into neutral and lose. Maybe if her zoning sucked like Izayoi's she would warrant a DP, but you have all the tools to keep someone out. IAD back j.2D still gives me nightmares. She'd probably be S tier with a decent DP. Not broken...but S tier. I could see giving her a really quick move to poke out with or something with body or foot invuln though. Except nothing with frame 1 foot invuln, because muh 2As. And she has a DP that completely guardpoints anything, which I'd say is better than invul frames.

Anyways I definitely see your point, but Mu is vulnerable while setting up stiens. You can approach her if you are quick about it. At least in my experience it is easier to get in on a Mu because they'll start using j.C/5C to poke instead of trying to zone all the time.
Errol Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I wouldn't mind them giving her the old gravity well back, from CS1. Not more than that though.

BloodWolF Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I agree with the CS1 well comment. I also know your feelings when you miss a drive and they get in for free. Swords are a big investment. I guess my opinion stems from the fact that, when I lose, I never find myself saying "If I only had a reversal", but instead saying "I don't have a reversal, so I should really review that and work on my mobility/defense." We get small damage off of small hits and decent damage when we use our resources correctly. Could things be improved? Yeah. However, I am pretty happy with where she is sitting right now. She's complex, yet so much fun for the average reward. I don't want another CT Nu. This one is too enjoyable for me.
Master Of Chaos Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 ....I think it's safe to say that no one wants CT Nu back, ever. The Nightmares INB4 CT!Arakune comes back. So Amane, Izayoi, Terumi and Bullet are the ones who need buffs the most, Makoto, Kagura and Ragna could also stand some imporovements. Anyone else?
NecroTheReaper Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Lol, you say Ara and forget Ara got screwed to an extent with CP. There are good Ara's out there, but all the good ones I've faught felt like I was only doing well cuz of how much he got nerfed.
Yazumatto Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 So Amane, Izayoi, Terumi and Bullet are the ones who need buffs the most, Makoto, Kagura and Ragna could also stand some imporovements. Anyone else? If you want a buffed Terumi, play Hazama. On a serious note, I can't see how he's bad since all I see coming from him is damage. Amane, Izayoi and Bullet could be a bit better but their current forms all have some great potential. They just need a few changes to be great. Seeing as how Makoto has the worst matchups across the board and is generally considered the worst character in the game for the second version in a row, buffs should start there. Then again, I'm expecting the hat trick here instead of a competitive character if the patch comes with balance updates for the cast (instead of just the console characters). What I'm saying is, they better not nerf Azrael. >.>
Dark Ranger88 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 They should make Makoto's 5B startup faster or at least equal to Ragna's 5B. I mean c'mon. How does Ragna do a roundhouse kick faster than Makoto's straight punch. Common sense says that punches should be faster than kicks. AND it has significantly more range than Makoto's 5B. It's just...Ragna's 5B vs Makoto's 5B has always bothered me.
