Alpha Dog Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Does anyone know the reason why arcsys releases stuff like half a year later for other countries? By time NA gets it, two months later there's gonna be a new version announced. Hell, I just gave up on psn getting the +R update. Not to mention how the uk gets screwed. I dont see the logistics of it. Can someone with the know-how explain? Im curious.
RurouniLoneWolf Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 These are just my observations so I could be off the mark but to break this issue down by region. For NA, I blame ASW US doing the localization. If Aksys themselves did the localization, there's little doubt in my mind that the NA version would be out by now. I'm not sure if it's because ASW US is still pretty new to the localization business or it's because they're doing the localization with limited resources to save money but there's definitely a gap in skill when it comes to localization. For EU, the EU version is most probably based off the NA version, meaning they have to wait for the NA version to be complete. Normally, this isn't too much of an issue because the difference in release date between JP and NA isn't too huge but in this case, it's a much bigger factor. But the most important factor is really that based on their track record, Zen United looks like it's a pretty small company with very limited resources. Quick localizations is probably very literally impossible for them to do.

As for why it takes so long, that's just because the localization process tends to be long by its nature. Not only are you translating and editing the English script, but if you do a console release, you also have to go through a process with whichever company made the console you're distributing on, the time for which varies, IIRC. In Aksys' case, it's probably a combination of the length of CP's script (which, while probably not as long as, say, Fate/Extra, is still pretty long) and that they're also co-developing another game, which is probably where they're prioritizing their resources, which means work on CP would be slower.
Alpha Dog Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 oh ok. thanks for the replies. I still dont get whats the hold up with the +R update though for psn. i wonder if they just forgot about it. its already patched on xbox and japanese psn so it seems like it wouldnt be too much trouble to patch NA psn
hakimiru Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Didn't see it posted so quick PSA: Christmas event going on from 12/18-12/25 in the online lobbies. There's a new lobby, 魔道都市イシャナ that's active during this time period (it's the flashing one in the middle). You get Christmas accessories for entering. The accesories are stored locally with your save data, so you lose them if you lose your data.
Myoro Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I don't know if I'm late on discovering this, but if you use a jump cancel-able attack and go into Overdrive right as the jump cancel starts, it will not be counted as an "overdrive cancel" and the jump will be stopped leaving you on the ground to continue your combo. I don't know how useful this'll be as it's a little difficult to follow up without 5A in most cases, but you get full overdrive for the rest of the combo. If it doesn't have a name already I propose IOD (Instant Overdrive)
Chaoschao222 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 It's a known and even common thing (some Challenges make you do it), it's the exact same concept as jump cancel gold bursting in CS.
SoWL Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I dunno about stopping the jump: every time I do that, my aerial momentum persists after the OD activation unless I perform some move right away. Then again, I mostly do it after Bullet's 6C.
Cambuki Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Noob question lol. Does anyone know how to work the recording aspect of training mode? When i start recording, which I believe is when those numbers start counting idk how to use what I've recorded lol...
Kurushii Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Press FN1 to control the cpu, then again to record. Pess FN1 again to stop recording. Press FN2 to play.
Cambuki Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Few more questions for this thread.1. Can I reverse grabs while barrier guarding, and is it bad to barrier guard too often? 2. Is it better to initially block standing or crouching in blazblue? (Coming from sf4) so crouch all day lol. 3. When do i attack if the opponent is recovering from a knockdown? i always seem to attack and get destroyed with a counter hit. I'm very new to blazblue so all these things are frustrating me lol.
Elochai Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Few more questions for this thread. 1. Can I reverse grabs while barrier guarding, and is it bad to barrier guard too often? If you're asking if you can tech while being grabbed during a barrier guard, the answer is yes, you can. The only untechable grabs are non-purple command grabs as far as I know. 2. Is it better to initially block standing or crouching in blazblue? (Coming from sf4) so crouch all day lol. I would argue that it's better to block crouching. Lows in this game are generally faster than overheads, so if you're blocking high from the get-go, you would have to be insanely fast to switch to a low guard. Additionally, there're more lows than highs I believe. 3. When do i attack if the opponent is recovering from a knockdown? i always seem to attack and get destroyed with a counter hit. I'm very new to blazblue so all these things are frustrating me lol. You can time attacks to be meaty or use safe-jumps if you're being mashed on. If your opponents are using DPs on wake-up, you should try your best to be wary of them/look out for them.
Mcgreag Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 If you're asking if you can tech while being grabbed during a barrier guard, the answer is yes, you can. The only untechable grabs are non-purple command grabs as far as I know. There are two more situations where you can not tech a grab. If you get a Throw Reject Miss (you tried to tech the throw too early) or if you get a Throw Counter (you where thrown in a situation where a normal attack would have been a Counter Hit).
Elochai Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah, you're right. I wasn't sure whether or not I should mention that. It just seems more like "you messed up your inputs, so now you're going to get grabbed anyway."
Cambuki Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Ok everyone here is really helpful so more questions! 1. When you are the opponents combos do you mash c hoping they will drop the combo or do you watch to see if they drop it. 2. Is it smart to attempt to attack when waking up or am I better of blocking (i play izayoi) all her normals suck but if i try to get a 2a in i always get blown up with a counter hit followed by a combo.
Lucalibur Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Izayoi's normals don't suck but to answer your questions, you should always play safe as far those things go. You don't want to be pressing buttons only to get hit by a reset during a combo or punished by a meaty during wakeup. You sit there, block, react, and just hope to god you hold on until you find an opening. Obviously there are exceptions, but this is the thumb rule.
TD Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 1. first of all you can hold the button to tech now. second, if you had to mash tech it should be a. third, it depends on the character, player skill/knowledge, and the combo in question. most of the time it is ok to hold tech. if the foe is attempting a tech trap, then neutral tech becomes a bad idea (tagers love these). some combos have certain gimmick/resets that go with them so it really varies. 2. you answered your own question. dont wake up mashing unless you have a dp to play rps with. backdash, barrier, (super)jump + barrier, and plain blocking are all better options. there is also the riskier roll/quickrise mash but they are to be used in dire situations. again, this is important. if you have a dp or can gain one, or wakeup specific tricks (wind tech), that is the only time you should risk a button. otherwise block and gather information so that you can possibly 5a a slow meaty next time.
WolfCrimson Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Just recently found out that jumping over an opponent with single normal jump does not cause your character to turn, but super-jump does. Was this known before?
gamester Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Checked the 0th Rune City today for more Lobby Character Add-On stuff Has an odd hat I don't know the name of, something that looks like a bat. Another item looks like a Chinese New Year Dragon thing and the 4th thing looks like some strange headgear as well. My explanations are bad sorry xD
SoWL Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) You can check those out in the latest BuruRaji episode, probably even the one before that, too. I'll post a screenshot in a minute if you guys need one. EDIT: There we go. The first hat is a kagami mochi, by the way. Edited December 27, 2013 by SoWL
