BloodWolF Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 This news hasn't affected my interest in Nu. It's still there and solid. We have plenty of time to enjoy this Nu before the changes hit us. They haven't even announced a date for console stuff anyway. Our combos and tools may change, but the most important part with Nu is neutral anyway, so what we learn now will not all be lost.
No Limitz Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I am currently in the acceptance step of the 7 stages of grief. :P The only positive thing coming out of this for me is that I was having problems determining a sub for the longest time so I guess ArcSys gave me a solution. I'm hoping the two are different enough that they can compliment each other's match ups.
BloodWolF Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Yeah. I've never had a sub either. I've decided on one many times, but when I went to train with them, I just ended up playing Nu/Lambda. I am looking forward to seeing what they'll offer both of them.
ElegantShadow Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I've never had a Sub that felt right in my hands. Mayhaps with Nu and Lambda now split, that can change. I wouldn't mind playing a rush-down oriented Murakumo-Unit, honestly.
someonewhodied Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I've never had a sub that didn't feel right I'm gonna start updating the combo thread btw. Gonna have video examples for all combos too.
someonewhodied Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Small update on combo thread. B starter midscreen combos are up. I'll probably work on just A starters midscreen today.
No Limitz Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 So j.6D looks like it covers almost the same angle as j.2D. A more horizontal hitting j.D will help in match ups like against Hazama. One of the screen shots I saw made it look like j6DD launched the opponent up from the ground but it's hard to say.
ElegantShadow Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 So... Can we say anything about Lambda here, since the Thread made for her is now Locked? Does anyone else notice that Nu makes the same pose as Lambda when using her new Drive attack? In fact, the trajectory of the sword seems to travel in the same course as Lambda's. I can't find a pic of it, though. Which means that J.6D isn't exclusive to Nu, or Lambda just happens to have it and all her other Sword directions are different. :o I really hope that Nu gets something more than that. I've heard that CT Nu was solid/OP, but I want more to play with than just base Nu. I want to be able to combo from a distance like Hilda from UNIB or Glacius from KI. :I

The combos were mostly Drive combos though, if I remember correctly. Still did a ton of damage.
No Limitz Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Compiling the Nu changes, thus far, in here to keep it out of the Lambda thread: - Face Lift and Luna Forma removed - New move; j.6D, shoots a downward angle sword but at a more horizontal angle than j.2D (perhaps we can do j.6DD, j2.DD to bring in further opponents for combos) http://youtu.be/hfKyuXSlgUI?t=4m46s - New Act Parser that replaces her old 44 Act Parser, teleporting Nu 45° backwards: http://youtu.be/hfKyuXSlgUI?t=3m49s - Gravity Seed simply uses the full gauge now but has a faster recovery http://youtu.be/hfKyuXSlgUI?t=4m3s - Has 3 types of sickle storm now: 236[D] is a new variant of sickle storm, holding down D delays the saw coming out a bit 236[D] wall bounces the opponent; the new wall bounce and the delayed saw will probably be very important combo tools The regular 236D sickle storm we all know and love 236D~C was not shown http://youtu.be/hfKyuXSlgUI?t=4m9s - Has 3 types of Spike Chasers now: A fast and short range one, similar to CP1 Nu's Luna 214D, Mori mentioned this is a "C" version and that it comes out right away The usual mid-range, uncharged 214D The usual full screen 214D~C version, input may have changed to holding down D? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfKyuXSlgUI&feature=youtu.be&t=4m23s - Nu's Calamity Sword appears to fall a bit further from herself than before http://youtu.be/hfKyuXSlgUI?t=8m3s
BloodWolF Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Nice. We probably need to clarify that 236[D] is the sickle storm that wallbounces. I believe that 236D grounds like normal. The animation is also slightly different.
zaeris Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The new changes look quite underwhelming overall and as expected of arcsys not give her enough to make up for her lost, since we already could combo off 236d.
someonewhodied Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 We lost huge damage off of midscreen standing confirms with these changes. It will bring us from 2.8K from 5D starter to like 1.6 ish. Crouching may be interesting though. I wonder if I can set a whiffed gravity seed in the middle of a combo and continue after without using heat. That may give some insight on some new routes nu may have.
No Limitz Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 That sounds insanely optimistic if gravity recovered fast enough for us to link off of it lol. Hopefully the drive damage buff stay to mitigate the lack of Luna. Who knows, maybe 4DD will have insane push to make 5DD > 4DD > 4B, 214D~C really consistent lol The new sickle and spike variants seem only useful to fill in the combo gaps left by the loss of cavalier and Luna spike. They really want Nu to focus only on zoning now it seems. Hopefully they'll buff her Supra to some sort of combined Luna and Dia version since the dia supra was fairly situational to use. And then maybe we can keep some form of oki with the faster gravity. Overall it does seem like Nu's neutral is better so far. I think j6D is a bit underrated right now as well. Edit: its a bit hard to tell with the low quality footage but it sort of seems like Nu's start up and acceleration of her dashes seem faster? Did anyone else it feel like that was the case?
kenja0 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 j.214D is noticeably slower (or is altered in a way to make it stand out more). Nu gets into pose first, then the blade comes out.

Edit: its a bit hard to tell with the low quality footage but it sort of seems like Nu's start up and acceleration of her dashes seem faster? Did anyone else it feel like that was the case? Her dashes did seem a bit faster. They did the dashes a lot and seemed to be talking about them, so maybe they did change them in some way. Or they could just be reiterating how mobile of a character Nu/Lambda still is. We lost huge damage off of midscreen standing confirms with these changes. I wonder if I can set a whiffed gravity seed in the middle of a combo and continue after without using heat. That may give some insight on some new routes nu may have. Well, I can be optimistic and say maybe they improved her 5D starter enough so that she can get that 2.8k combo more consistently. Since her drives do a bit more damage now, it's safe to assume they're now N starter rating, so she will have better combo routes available to her. The 2.8k dream is still alive, hopefully. On a side note, I'm honestly curious if Nu or Lambda retain projectile lv.2. I know it was Luna mode specific so it would be cool if one of them retains that ability by default. It would make match-ups against Litchi, Hazama, and Bang slightly easier. Though, if one of them has projectile lv.2 and the other doesn't, one will basically counter the other.
mAc Chaos Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Do you guys see a purpose to that 45 degree Parser? I wonder what made them put that in. Maybe she can do pressure, then go straight into that and throw some j.2Ds.
someonewhodied Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Yeah you can go into that, j.2DD>j.214D~C>Ect
mAc Chaos Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 The thing is, you could already always just IAD back and do that...
Afro-Demon Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I think the new 44D is to act as a pseudo-jump cancel for act parser now. Makes it so she isn't over bearinglingly offensive with it as she was in CT, but gives her retreat a bit more fluid of a defensive dynamic, especially with air act parsers and the new j.6D. Have to see in in action, but this doesn't sound like it'd change so much other than changing her pressure sequence at range when not trying to get in for damage.
BloodWolF Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Her dashes did seem a bit faster. They did the dashes a lot and seemed to be talking about them, so maybe they did change them in some way. Or they could just be reiterating how mobile of a character Nu/Lambda still is. I thought the same thing when I first watched it without audio. They're actually just talking about Nu's lack of modeshift and how Lambda has a base in Nu's old Luna form. She did seem pretty fast though.

This is what I think too, we'll probably get to keep our air options after too
BloodWolF Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 If we keep the air options, I think it's a plus. Otherwise, I wouldn't have wanted to lose our old 44 act parser.
susano Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Nu seems a lot faster. I'm liking that new teleport though. I hope we can still do some damage.
No Limitz Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 j.214D is noticeably slower (or is altered in a way to make it stand out more). Nu gets into pose first, then the blade comes out.Looking at the new moves, it seems what we saw was the j.214[D] version of crescen. So all 3 of our D specials have a regular, [D] and ~C version. Edit: SWD you sort of got your wish; if I'm reading this right we may be able to cancel Spike,Crescent?, Sickle, Supra into Gravity seed. Supra can be done in the air. We can Act Parser out of Spike, Crescent, Sickle and Gravity. Lol so now we can hit someone with a sickle, lay down a gravity and teleport all in one string? I thought Lambda was supposed to be the hit and run character. Canceling things into gravity may be our new Phase Shift/stance change.
