sorry to post more nonsense in this thread, but i just want you to know josh, i know you are contacting twitch in hopes of finding info.  do you really think you can do or say anything about me or my establishment without anyone finding out?  there is no backdoor and you do not know as much as you think you do.  fortunately for you i am now much more mature and can tolerate your childish antics very easily.  i will be at the arcade early tomorrow cleaning and setting up.  i suggest you do the same and only one request.  do not raise your voice or act childish or any conversation we have will end.  thanks.

Man, I never raised my voice at you when we spoke on Wednesday, so don't expect me to do so now either. You can call them childish antics if you want, but I'm not looking for a backdoor; I'm looking for more clarity as to what is really going on. I did contact Twitch in an attempt to find out why I'm being given the boot. I would have never done so if you'd been fully forthright and transparent on the issue. I don't have anything personal against you, but I do disagree with the way the entire situation has been handled. I'd have really appreciated it if you had tried to contact me about the issue long before the next Rebel Up, sat down with me, and fully explained what's going on. I don't think that's too much to ask. Instead I found out from Delta, who found out from Mando, and wasn't even given all the information regarding the issue.

I've never talked shit about you or your establishment and I doubt I ever will. I don't feel what's happened at this point is fair, but I'm well aware of how you guys have supported all of us in the past. I wouldn't forget something like that because of a quabble over streams.

when you come to talk to someone man to man in person, then go home and rant online and make accusations that will not be taken as a friendly gesture.  you posted this on neogaf :

"For the record, what I posted on my twitter last night was right after talking to Watson in person.

I have no doubt in my mind that he's going to downplay it with the blog post he said he was going to make tonight, but the fact of the matter is that neither myself nor iebattlegrounds can stream our events on our own channels at Super Arcade anymore.

Watson is requiring that the [still unnamed] Super Arcade channel be used for all non-Level|Up events."

because?  i am going to downplay what?  you even tried to put words into rotanibors mouth and he insta posted for you to stop.  you also posted this on twitter:

"from, I've read and heard all the shit the Arcade's been through, but I don't think he cares about streamers."

because?  you think you know what i think about streamers?  then another tweet i saw was this:

"Do we really need to start signing contracts for venues to ensure that terms of usage don't change randomly? Is that what this has come to?"

do you feel entitled to something or are the new changes that we are implementing doing something bad for the community?  see, this all boils down to you being upset then going home and ranting.  i didnt want to make you look bad publicly but you are leaving me with no choice.  we will all talk at rebel up tomorrow and i have no problem listening to everyones thoughts and opinions.  but just be ready for a harsh reality because i promise you one thing, all this fuss and nonsense was not created by me.  also another issue as to the people who stream at super arcade.  have you heard mando complain 1 time about anything?  nope.  why?  because he is aware that my goals are for the greater good of the community.  his viewership is triple that of yours and i dont have a clue as to how many times over his subscriber base is compared, but im sure its more than triple.  im not trying to rub it in, but if you see others doing something and not complaining, wouldnt it seem like this is a step in a the right direction?

and why dont you tell people exactly what i told you about level up, and how you are unhappy that they are supposedly getting a free pass?  why dont you mention that they have a 25 thousand dollar tricaster and over 10k in equipment that i am free to use at any time.  why dont you mention that me and valle have known each other for almost 20 years and we work closely together on many events?  you just selectively state your assumptions and dont talk about what the real issues are.

i truly truly did want to put you on blast or make it out that you are a bad guy in any way, but by your posts and opinions you have left me with no choice.  you do have ulterior motives and they became ever so obvious the minute you walked out the door.  we discussed how streams make pennies and its not about the money.  we also discussed that my goal of gaining a larger audience and trying to get sponsors and an influx of free pot money into rebel up was important to me.  you agreed and claimed to understand, yet you go home and start expressing your opinions and how when talking about an event its "our event" or "our community" but when talking about the stream its "your" stream.  how convenient it is to use these words isnt it?  i have been around the block longer than you have existed so trust me when i say, ive seen all this shit before.  at first it started out as for the community, then it wound up being about you having followers and subscribers.  then it also wound up being about you wanted to run events elsewhere.  i get it dude, i really do.  and im sure everyone else gets it too.  but dont go and try to put me on blast for trying to make your community better and giving it more exposure.  see you tomorrow.

Yeah, I was convinced you were going to downplay it. You've been downplaying it on twitter as a non-issue. Key words being 'not deserving.'

Here's that full excerpt of my tweet you referenced:

You care about Valle and Level|Up. I get that. You guys are close friends and they do a lot for the Arcade and the community; I really do respect it. When I talked to Mando via DMs, which he has since deleted, he said he initially reacted the same way. It sounded to me like he wants to do what's best for the community, so he'll begrudgingly go along with it hoping that it works out, but I don't think it's really fair to him either. And for me, the largest of the little guys? Not to mention Numakie or Wallace, but it sounds like we're just casualties in a decision you made without really giving us any thought.

As far as my stream goes: it is my stream. Which also means I have full control of the quality settings and local recordings. I stream for two primary purposes: one is to bring new people into the community and the other is to create high quality archives of our events. The former can probably be achieved even on Super's channel, assuming people will tune in, but the latter is going to either not happen, or suffer in quality. I'm able to localrecord in HD at 60fps while serving a high quality stream and this is mostly in part due to the thousands of dollars I've put into my equipment the 1.5-2 years. I've provided streams for many events completely for free, out of the goodness of my heart and love for the anime fighting game community. I even, out of respect for you and your arcade, ensured that every stream I ran from Super had the name of the arcade and the city it was located in, in the stream title. I've spent a lot of time building followers, those actually interested specifically in our games, to reach maximum exposure with our events. I've also worked directly with the game publishers to get goodies and prizes for some events, and some cool opportunities for our community members.

So yes, at the very least, I want to be able to keep streaming the event I help with the most. I think that's a fair thing to ask after all I've done for the community. Yes, I do have aspirations of being a well known streamer at some point too, but that's not what got me into streaming and it's not what primarily drives me to keep streaming FGC events to this day.

And yeah, I do have a sub button and subscribers too. Although I make very little off this, I don't think it's fair to them either. But with that all aside, I guess we'll talk tomorrow.

I'm not looking to hop in and take a side here, but it should be noted that while the airdashers and anime games are fighting games, they aren't received very well. Watson himself has stated on multiple occasions that he hates P4A as a game, and he's not alone, nor is P4A. This community takes a lot of crap from the fathering community, aka the street fighter and marvel communities. People simply don't like our games, and they will bandwagon in hatred for all of us with them. Levelup has seen nothing but extreme negativity from the viewers every time they've put p4a or blazblue on their stream, even just for a quick top 3. Cross Counter did a lot of videos with us when P4A came out, and you can see in the comments, nothing but constant negativity.

I don't really care who streams what, but my concern is the audience. You can't throw a bunch of games from different genres into the same pool all on one stream because you're going to end up with a lot of hatred, bias, and bashing of our community. I've seen it happen so many times already and it's just not fair. We all have to (and many of us have already) accept that our interest in these games is niche, and that's why we've spent so much time building our own audience away from all of the negativity starting with James Xie's stream, into our community counterassault stream, and now onto Jyosua's. To erase all of that and throw the hated anime community back into the toxicity of the other communities is just a hard thing to do. At the very least I would suggest maybe a Super Arcade Rebel Up stream, so that our own viewers and base aren't scared away and turned off by the toxicity in the main chat, and the train can keep moving.

Hey, can you guys settle this somewhere else please? I don't mind you guys talking some stuff out, but this isn't the place to argue like this. Sorry ^^

Yeah man, don't worry about it. I don't think either of us had any intention of continuing this discussion here. I'm about to head out to the arcade, so we'll definitely talk there.

Updated the first post with important info!

Time and other info noted with TBA will be filled out once it is known.

Because there was apparently a glitch at the last RU, when times become listed for games please make sure they are set in stone. There was an issue with UNIEL starting earlier than listed for the last tournament, and problems occurred.

ah nice, event is changing date for "one-time" only.  glad to see as the host of this event i was notified of this.  also glad to see as the venue who normally hosts this we were able to showcase the new persona FOR FREE but when we have a paid event and a chance to make some income it is moved?  no problem guys.  we will get to the bottom of this.

i am awaiting a callback from ATLUS and will update thread soon as i have more info.  (you guys like to move stuff around and endanger a whole community over something minor and selfish lol, np.  maybe i can fill up all my dates with smash bros and have 100+ man events without all the drama)  you know who im talking to *wink wink*

Just a heads up. I'm probably going to be working more closely with Atlus in the near future ;)

Would like (err love) to support the entire SoCal community more. How bout it?

First and foremost, I'd like to note that FG@UCI was completely unaware of this event. The only thing we were planning with Atlus was a possible pre-release event for P4AU at UCI. Nothing was set in stone.

As far as a Rebel Up event at UCI, FG@UCI was never contacted with this idea. From what I know, whatever was being planned was being brainstormed and was going to be brought up to Super Arcade to see if it was permissible.

This post jumped the gun and was made before any parties were contacted and confirmed with. My intentions were never to take away an event from Super Arcade. The idea for a pre-release event at UCI was to add on to existing events in Socal, not compete with them.

While we are also a victim of the miscommunication of all these details, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to both Atlus and Super Arcade. We would never purposely cause trouble for either businesses and would only want to work with them to bring events to the fighting game community.

Fighting Gamers @ UCI

To clarify what's going on here..

Fighting gamers at UCI has been very interested in trying to get an event for the Persona Ultimax release, specifically a pre release event or some sort. They got into contact with Atlus about such a thing. FG@UCI has always had a bit of trouble getting a proper turnout and Atlus really does want to hold an event there due to the size of the available rooms, and the proximity to the Atlus USA headquarters in southern california. It's an absolutely convenient location. I have been in contact with both Atlus and Jyosua via email to help kick something off like this. The easy solution would obviously be to move it to super arcade, however, Atlus has something bigger in mind for us that requires more space which is why they proposed UCI. At this time, it was only early planning. I brought up that there had been some recent bad blood between Jyosua and Super Arcade and that despite this not being Jyosua's idea at all, it would look like he was plotting something atrocious. To Watson, you have my absolute word that Jyosua did not plan this out on his own nor is he out to get you or permanently move this event. As someone who worked with you holding Rebel Up for more than a year, and someone who frequents your arcade both for fighting games and ITG, I would hope that you can take my word on this despite the recent bad blood between the both of you.

Now this is where things get complicated. For whatever reason, the organizer of this thread is 100% against having a large event sponsored by Atlus with extra prizes at a different location. Why our main organizer doesn't want large events for us is beyond me, perhaps I've been gone too long from the scene to understand the motivations these days. From email communication at this time, it is my understanding that Delta very reluctantly agreed to do this at all and wasn't happy about this. We had not even entered the initial planning stages when the organizer decided to update this thread under nobody's instruction. We don't even know if we HAVE a room at UCI yet (you can't just walk in there and set up your game consoles, it's a university) let alone what the parameters or anything else are. In addition, both Jyosua and myself were instructed and had planned not to even begin talking about this because Atlus wanted to PERSONALLY compensate Watson for missing out on a weekend of rebel up to avoid this very issue. To me it honestly looks like after a reluctant confirmation between the organizer of this thread and Jyosua, bad blood was instantly instigated by updating this page with what is basically noninfo that is stirring up more trouble for everyone.

The facts are, we aren't even ready yet. UCI was an idea being tossed up by Atlus, and is at this time still an unconfirmed idea. Jyosua was simply asked to see if the organizer would be willing to cooperate and that is ALL until they personally spoke with Watson and got back to us on what to do next. If Watson didn't agree to take the compensation for moving the event, there would be no move in the first place. I apologize for this long rambling post, but the important part is next. At this time, there is no full working plan for where the Atlus sponsored rebel up event is going to take place, whether or not it will even be partnered with rebel up, or when it will be. Please stand by for further updates from both myself and Mike Watson of Super Arcade.

I also apologize, due to mis-communication on someone's behalf, the entire ordeal has taken a negative turn.

Until things are further clarified the info has been redacted.

Just got off the phone with atlus and spoke to an atlus rep that stopped by our shop a few minutes ago.  As already stated this whole thing was apparently not even finalized and should have never been announced to begin with.  No big deal.  We have not figured out as of yet what will be completely done regarding this so please dont jump to any conclusions or make any false rumors.  For everyone waiting on info please be patient and we are trying to work out a solution that would keep the event here for starters, but also allow some time for us to handle this situation.

FTR, I have 0 hate, anger, or animosity vs jyosua.  He has done nothing wrong and he is only fighting for what he feels is right.  Regardless, hang tight for updates guys.  They will be coming real soon!
