Ben Reed Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 More fun facts about Selvaria's self destruct courtesy of my brother testing: - If it hits, Selvaria wins the match - If blocked, Selvaria loses the match - It's blockable but deals 100% chip on block (no chip kill, but still!) - It hits full screen I almost regret posting this simply because it'll gimp trolling with it in casuals/netplay.

Blue Crimson Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 There's something else about Storm Strike, when done early in a combo, it does a small ground bounce that allows to connect Horizontal Square easely, but when later in combos the opponent will tech as soon as it touches the ground. After trying your combo, I think that's the problem here, you need to hit the opponent as high as possible with the last special chain to make it work. Â But for the same amount of ressources you can do easier combos that will also do more damage : Â - AA 5B > jB jC > j236AB > AC > 236C-4C-6C-8C > 41236BC (4172dmg), keeps your assist available so you can use it if you open them up on the next okizeme, allowing for exemple to go for a power blast combo. Â -Â AA 5B > jB jC > j236AB > AC > 236C-4C-6C+S-8C > 214C > 41236BC (4459dmg), a bit more damage for assist use, call Isaya on the last hit of Horizontal Square. Â - AA 5B > jB jC+5S > j236A/C > AC > 214C-6C-4C-8C > 41236BC (4563dmg), best damage, good point is that assist cancel doesn't lower meter gain like when you use an EX, so you get a bit more meter from the combo. Â For all those combo, you can add double jump jB jC but you'll have to cut on the special chain hits to make it work, also it will do quite less damage. Â For first combo, I found if you do 5C before 236C you get 4305 In second combo, 2C before 236C gets 4503 Â

The only way I got 4305 was doing 236C-8C-4C-6C, but that's more damage and as easy so good find. Â For the second combo, I found an alternative :Â AA 5B > jB jC > j236AB > AC > 2C > 236C-4C-6C-8C~5S > dash otg 2B 5C 214C > 41236BC (4521dmg), it's good because Isaya's 6S recovers faster than 5S, also it allows you to use power blast while he stomps them then otg 214C into 41236BC for 4585dmg.

Someone should test.  No need to safejump, the startup is like 90f you just have to open your eyes when she starting to glow, unless you're into recovery of your whiffed CA (Hi Asuna) you can't get hit by that

Not like you have to bother, unless you whiffed something like a level 2. Once the move starts, Sel can't stop it, it takes like a second and a half to activate, and if it doesn't hit you, she instantly loses. So you're more likely to see this move only as a troll in casuals (and I mean a NO respect move!) and MAYBE a last-ditch wakeup for an opponent who's almost dead anyway. Remember, this is a one-attempt, LITERALLY all-or-nothing move. Instant win or instant loss. This is not something you have to respect every single time you knock Selvaria down, because she can only do it in the final round with both Trumps to begin with. The only way you'd use this in a serious match is if someone REALLY fucks up their combo (like Shizuo did in that video!) and you can hit them before they can block.

Blue Crimson Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I don't remember if I changed the order in the first combo 'cause it was at like 7AM my time without sleeping yet, but yeah, it's all the same with a short combo like that. The second combo is great, I've been playing around with 6S combos before that, I love the idea that I can power blast and still continue my combo. Â Also, you can squeeze a 5C in there before the 214C after Power Blast for a tiny bit of extra damage. One of my biggest questions right now is why do people do 6C in the Dual Weild chain, isn't 5C the same thing?
Maho Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 One of my biggest questions right now is why do people do 6C in the Dual Weild chain, isn't 5C the same thing? 5C actually triggers the next possible followup in the chain, the priority being Horizontal Square > Spinning Shield > Storm Strike, what you can do with 6C is cancel another special with Horizontal Square a bit faster than with 5C, for exemple you can do 214C~6C and cancel the Spinning Shield on the first hit, which is impossible by doing 214C~5C. But I don't think that actually comes into use a lot, so I think this is mostly used for clarity in combo listings.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out, once again!  Nice job!  Very useful.  One more thing with Enju's lockon hold 5S:  It seems like it will also trigger if the opponent calls their own assist, making Enju attack the enemy assist instantly and knocking the assist out (for the longer recharge).

Ben Reed Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 What's a good combo-extension assist for Rentaro? I picked him in the lab on a whim because of his 5B and he's kinda growing on me. I'm trying him with Alicia right now but his combos with her 5S don't seem nearly as derpy as Sel's, lol. Only midscreen confirm I have with her right now is, uh...2 hits long (5A > 5C > 2A+B) and kinda nuanced (late support cancel from 5A+B(1), but before the 2nd hit, else the grenade OTG's). I'm only like 10 minutes deep with him though, so hopefully I'll understand him a bit better later on. EDIt: NM, already found a derpier confirm with 5A > 5B > 5C > 5S > 236B. I still kinda like the DP one though because it looks kinda cool. Dude has a MANLY-ass DP.
