SolxBaiken Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 no one cares But for real, it looks like they're building upon what they did with Injustice and making environment interactions a big part of gameplay and it looks like they're bringing back MK4 weapons. Glad the animation looks a lot smoother. I am concerned though, in the official press release they state "powered by next gen technology" but they are releasing PS3/360 versions, so I hope there is not a huge difference between current and next gen [hopefully that's just a buzz line] but man, I hate when they announce stuff so far away = 3= Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH.
Kairos Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 This is pre-rendered, and contains no game play, so it's hard to say what will and won't be included from this trailer. I've never been a big fan of MK, MK9 less so, but I'll try to be as unbiased as I possibly can until I see enough from the game.
Xechs Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 My ears are bleeding... I like MK, but for some reason this trailer looks and sounds pretty dull.
Hecatom Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 It seems that the game runs on Unreal Engine 3, so that throws away any chance of the game looking like the trailer even by accident Warner PR WARNER BROS. Vvvv Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Getting old and busted rappers to do the theme for your game going to be the new thing? I hope UNIEL gets DMX!
Starlight777 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Those new designs make me pray that one day developers will STOP throwing multiple belts and buckles on their characters. It just looks stupid no matter who does it. The trailer looked nice but it didn't really give me anything to get hype about aside from the possibility of stage interactables being in it. So Sub isn't a robot? That's good, let's hope they continue ignoring MK9's canon.
SolxBaiken Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 MK9 was merely one of the possibilities . . . OF THE CONTINUUM SHIFT!!!

Starlight777 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hell yeah I'm so jelly of all the leather trends. Anyway I wonder what they mean by multiple variations of existing characters. Nearly everyone gets an EX version or something?

Nearly everyone gets an EX version or something? I'm hoping for "-isms/Grooves" like Street Fighter Alpha/CvS2. That'd be cool.

White Man Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Doesn't look as hype as Death Cargo, but I might still check it out.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Eh, MK9 made me an enthusiastic of the devs, so I'll gladly follow this one.
Vulcan422 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Trailer with better music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AXjxwX9OTA
White Man Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 The original trailer music was cool, man. I know this might seem ironic given my username, but you guys are too white.
TAI-X Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 First in-game footage from Sony's E3 conference. The new characters include a masked giant with a midget on his shoulders like that guy from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (could be some puppeteer shenanigans going on with them, but probably not), and a yellow zombie lady who controls insects. My interest is piqued. There will probably also be another exclusive Playstation character again. MK9 was mostly a nostalgia-fueled retread of the first four games, but this really feels like it's taking the series new places. They've brought over the contextual environment attacks from Injustice though, which I felt added nothing substantive to the game and only served to marginalize skill even further. But I'm sure you'll be able to disable them like in Injustice.
WarioMCP Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Looks like Mortal Kombat is going back to it's roots of being the most violent fighter on the planet. This takes me all the way back to the original in terms of level of violence/gore vs competition.

This takes me all the way back to the original in terms of level of violence/gore vs competition. MK9 was already insanely violent, far more so than any other game in the series.

TeeJay Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I wonder how the 3 character variations will affect balance and gameplay. They seem more than just a different ultra. Robo-Ky, Ex Robo-Ky?.
