How high is the level of play in here? I really need to work on my defense, it's horrible, and learn to open people up properly with Minazuki & Naoto. I've heard tons of good things about people who've played in here with mixedmethods, so I'm just curious.

Also, if anyone needs MU xp against a decent Minazuki or Narukami instead of the average netplayer(ziocar & lion), I can do so. I'm really looking to level up my defense though, as well as learn how to stay calm and mixup properly without Narukami.

Well, I only fight boss-level or "The Narukami 50/50: Raging Lion or Swift Strike" kinds, so if nothing else, I wouldn't mind playing some games.

The skill level varies -- some people have played fighters for years and have solid defence, combos, etc., some of us are new to fighters, but no one's tournament-material. Knowledge of OSes is common, I hope, since I've talked about them quite a bit, but application is different. We teach each other how to beat our characters, talk about MUs, try to find solutions to things -- no question is stupid, even "what did you hit me with." There's no strict ban on trash talking, but we have several other members (myself included) who wouldn't mind playing calmer and smarter, so we're not in the habit of truly digging into each other or self-hating.

That was fun for the time I was there, definitely will come back whenever you guys meet again.  Although I wish you used Skype so I can talk (too poor to afford a headset with DFC and PQ this month, RIP), it's still fun and annoying typing everything on the godawful PSN keyboard. I played really bad to be honest, I usually move a lot better but I was tired, (you can tell I'm tired when i'm super jumping  randomly or dropping easy combos) and stuff.

Skype is definitely more preferable for me; I have no PS3 mic, the keyboard on PS3 is slow, and there's no time to type on it. Plus it's really hard to hear you guys.

Misplays happens, you came during the afterparty after all - we were all effectively "wasted" at that point.

 

But yeah, I'll totally give you all the Margaret info you'd ever want (and heavy's Yosuke is annoying too  )

 

Skype could be a thing, most of us use mics but it couldn't do harm.

Yeah, screw-ups ... are the norm. No one needs to apologise. And if you see one of us online, we're all more than happy to play solo sets and/or do online training ~stuff, look over replays together, whatever.

As for Skype: most of us lack a way to play while on Skype and then the overwhelming majority of us don't even use Skype, as I gauged interest in a Skype group a few weeks ago and that was dead on arrival. We generally stick to in-room tutorials or long-ass messages ("here's what's real, here's what isn't, this is a fuzzy," etc.), which I plan to collect and archive. I'd love to accommodate everyone (and get my headset to work consistently), but ... that's never possible.

The afterparty was great, as per. We need more Narukami vs. Narukami. "That's not fair! You did something real!"

Again, while we have "regular" meet-ups, if one of us spies a few others online, we usually start a room. Invites are sent if we see anyone on who's expressed interest, but you they're very "come if you want to, no pressure" -- you don't have to accept or respond.

I also wouldn't mind getting in on these at some point. I've been playing since day 1 of P4A, but I don't really have much experience actually playing with people, so my defense is pretty miserable and my knowledge of some matchups is lacking.

 

My free time is sadly not what it used to be though, so I don't know how often I'd be able to come to the regular meetups.

 

I'm planning on playing later tonight (after 10 or 11 EST) though, so if anyone wants to play a scrubby Mitsuru who hasn't fully adapted to P4U yet, then hit me up. PersonaV1 on PSN.

Thanks for letting me in for my 2nd time now.  Sorry about the Yukiko stage pick (got me kicked, I think). I thought it was one of the two that was OK.  I'll just do Mits stage from now on.  I improved a bit from last time & had some close fights, but still have a long ways to go to reach the high-level beginners, like the Yukari player.

 

Spent some time in Training to practice combos beforehand, but didn't connect many.  Need to figure out how Teddie's jA, jB, jA works (no clue).

No more Kanji subbing (though I'm decent w/Capcom grapplers).  I should try out more of the cast (DLC & P3) to figure out my best characters.

Yukiko's stage is fine; it was "Random" for music.

There are a few songs that give me a migraine (disabling illness, yay) and I leave music on so I can cover the crosstalk when I'm in a match. If you want to use one of those songs, it's fine; just give me a heads-up so I can change my volume.

We had someone pick a song that gives me a migraine for "lulz," so, yeah, that's why the rule is there.

Man I got sooo tired last night out of nowhere to the point where I was nearly falling asleep at my controller. Was fun though. It felt nice to take a load off and play another "for fun" character like Naoto instead of going all super srs with Sho the whole time.
