I'm never one to run from a beating.

I'll need to look over the replays and frame data later (I never learned this matchup in Arena, either)- but if you'll give me puzzle hints, then,

- Is it a three-way mixup, on wakeup or blockstrings with Orgia?

Sweep, jB, crossup jC?

- I feel suffocated, a lot of the time. I noticed that you would fullscreen 2B in Orgia... well, sometimes, but I noticed too late. It felt like I would get clipped and suddenly eat 3-4k.

- It also feels like I should be hyper-aggressive at times, to keep you from breathing down my neck. Like I should sometimes disrespect instant jB, but I could never tell exactly when.

- I thought maybe that the trick is that you need to stand block vs Orgia, and look for lows, instead of the other way around... but sweep doesn't seem within my reactions to block.

- I really noticed that my dice rolls weren't great ROI... I couldn't afford to drop combos or make small mistakes, either.

- Non-Orgia Aigis doesn't feel too "useless"...

- jB has a wonky hitbox that... hits behind Aigis? I could have swore I was blocking some of those. Is it something stupid, like "those high hits won't hit you if you crouch" or something?

- Is there anything glaring I'm missing?

The thing you're missing is a neutral game. You're not flailing so that's good, but you're not stopping me from doing things, and you can't really afford to let me do what I want. Seemed to be a lot of "I am scared of what this person can do to me so I shouldn't risk it", then you block j.C, then MvC happens and whoops you died. Huge, you have to actually challenge me, which is scary but forces me to approach differently and for oyu to not have Aigis rushing down your neck.

-It's a mix up between low(2A/sweep), throw, high(j.B). front (j.B), back (cross up j.C). I can set that up a billion different ways. No point beating around the bush, Aigis mix up is bullshit, you're better off not ending up in a position where you need to block.

- You're going to feel suffocated until you learn the points at which I can do things, which you will. After that it's a matter of knowing when you can challenge and being confident on that. Fullscreen 2B sucks for Aigis, I only do it vs Adachi's online because they like to do random persona calls and that gives me a free in and a free card

- Don't try disrespecting that, try disrespecting other things (you'll learn, like certain cross ups), then take your mileage from that.

- You can't react to Orgia mix up. Period. You can react to where I am in my string to better take your guesses.

- Yeah this is the thing you'll learn. Risk vs Reward is a thing that's really messed up in Persona so you have to know quite a bit about the interactions.

- Non-Orgia Aigis is far from useless. A good Aigis can put pressure on in and out.

- yeah j.B has a weird hitbox that I use for ambiguous 50/50s. Just a thing you have to be aware of now. The stupid set up is sometimes I hit you front, sometimes behind, then the j.C always hits on the opposite side, so you might not have noticed the super subtle cross up.

Mics aren't required, it helps some of us elaborate on things if we're explaining tech. Otherwise we (but mostly me) are generally nuts.

I could always just use text chat to respond to anything you guys say, I guess. I'll try to be there for today's room.

I guess the thing is, by the time I was ready to play again, after getting to a point where I could move, I really couldn't... think of much to do. Any mistakes were magnified, simple drops or oops that would not have meant much in other matches meant dying here.

Do you accept friend requests? :3

... can Adachi have a neutral game?

No, really. I don't seem to have safe ways to play neutral, which is why I turtle and block so much. Most other people just open themselves up for me and I don't really have to hit buttons, but when I do have to hit buttons (like in this case) I don't really have safe buttons to hit.

I get so many friend requests orz. J.C is the button that basically lets you get away with murder. There were a lot of chances for you to 2B me too. His 5A would've been good in a ton of spots. A lot of it comes down to you finding the right spaces and hitting buttons based on the situation. Seriously though, j.C is absolutely stupid and you should be hitting it a lot.

Well, if it's an issue, I guess we could just meet randomly like this, I suppose.

How should I be using this? Neutral jump jC? Back jump jC?

Hop around like the Margaret I played last night and jC like a chicken with its head cut off?

Spacing in the air seems foreign to me. What are the fundamentals for this sort of thing? I feel really uncomfortable jumping without knowingly, preemptively jumping over something to make it whiff.

There were?!

I landed a few 2Bs, but most of the time you were moving too fast for me to 2B you out of the air (I remember whiffing it a lot)...

Where would 5A fit in?

Posted

You should be using in situations where you are above them lmao. It is actually that good. You can space so it's hard to AA or react to, you can use it to stop approach, etc.

Dawn, ask me questions whenevs.

Thanks for the games Anne~ Don't really have any specific questions. Any general tips on what I can do to improve would be nice though, Aigis MU-wise or just at the game in general. Tried not to get caught up in Aigis mixup and if I did, tried to find ways to either 5A or DP or block long enough to jump out or something. Didn't really work out well lol. Also tried to rushdown aggressively but not carelessly, which also didn't work out well for the most part since I got blown up by DPs a lot.

I want to play with you guys tonight.

Please add me on PSN so I can invite you.

While having a mic is not required, you do need to be able to hear us while we run over the rules pre-match, and then you can ignore our talking again.

ONCE AGAIN: THE RULES.

1. Netplay stages only. (Mitsuru's/school at night; Yukiko's/music room; non-crystal altar.) Allow intros to fully load. There are two intros: one for the stage itself and one for the characters (where each gives their pre-battle one-liner); the game will cut the stage intro if your connection is good. Don't skip either. Don't hit a button. You will incur my wrath.

1a. No one is going to kick you for lag itself (we will kick you for exploiting lag as a way to win... not okay), but if you have godawful lag while playing a match with someone -- lag to the point where neither of you is actually playing -- the respectful thing is to quit the match and either try again or just refrain from playing them. It's not usually an issue, and we have players outside the US (let alone East Coast and West Coast), but that would be the optimal solution should the problem arise.

2. Do not hit "Random" for music. The following songs are banned: The Junes Theme (the commercial jingle, not Yosuke's track); Spirited Girl; Memories of You; and Burn My Dread (Last Battle). If you want to use any of those songs, you must say so beforehand. This allows me to change my sound settings so I can avoid the migraine trigger. (No, I'm not exaggerating. I have a stupid disabling illness, noise sensitivity, etc. ... picking Spirited Girl thinking it'll be "cute" to give me a migraine is going to get your ass kicked.)

3. If you land an All out Attack, you must mash out at least 12 hits or you forfeit the match. Long story short, AoAs are ... not good for a variety of reasons, so if I see another six-hit midscreen AoA into a few (dropped) follow up moves, I'm ending the match and losing what remains of my mind. You are free to whiff AoA as many times as you like. There are exceptions for situational uses of AoA (Yukari using it to knock someone into Magarula, Yosuke and Liz set-ups, Aigis or Ken using an AoA > OMC to stay airborne, using the guard frames for a very specific and obvious reason, etc.). If your AoA connects, though, you need to do more than four hits and then mash C. It's a netplay epidemic. :vbang:

4. Do not just pass after you lose unless you need to go AFK. Rooms are set to Winner Out so that if you happen to draw one of our stronger players for your first game, you aren't locked out of playing and/or someone goes on a rampage. There is a consecutive game limit, so you won't stay in forever, but the idea is that the loser gets a chance to gain more experience by staying in for a few more games.

I don't understand the AoA rule: is it because it's spammable? or is there another reason?

You get blown up by DP a lot because I fight maybe 35798735607356 Adachis a day, and I know his strings and where the gaps are. You were very patterned, and that let me just get out when I spotted it. You also did a lot of unneeded buttons and movement in neutral, caused a lot of whiffs and let me get in quite a bit. It's nice you're being proactive, but once you have the space you want you are fine to chill for a moment. On defense you didn't have the bravery to stand up so I just kept overheading you. You've gotta take those guesses instead of trying to get out, or I'll just blow you up for constantly trying to get out.

Also Junes Theme reduces lag <3

ahhh, probably won't make it today... Next week!

Did Mango come by?

Sometimes people mash AOA for no particular reason. Then they land a hit into nothing or launch into nothing.

Just tryin' to guide the new kids.

Ahh k, I'll try to keep all of that in mind for next time. And lmao I'm too scared to block high.

Wait really? Didn't know that lol.

GGs people. I think I'm finally getting used to this game, and I'm loving more a more doing frametraps and "weird" pressure.

PD: Japanese voices are awesome, we need more people using them :D

Disappointed in my performance today, but oh well. Good games everyone!

Sorry I left without notice, I didn't have much time to play left so I was better off not waiting through all of us to get my last match or two of the day.

Posted

GGs to everyone! You guys are really nice and really fun to play. I'll definitely be coming back next time.

Good games! I apologize for leaving without notice as well, I ended up being preoccupied with some other things ;-;. That was fun!
