Xithmos Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I like to jump cancel & tech chase with J.214C.If it hits its a launch with 8]D[. If they guard it's unblock into 8]D[. Same with 632146C. Evil huh. I don't quite understand. So you wait for them to tech on the ground or in the air? Also I saw in a video that after doing 3C>j2C>Alle~can>5C>]8D[ it leads to an unblockable. But it doesn't work on all characters (IIRC it works on Ragna, Hakumen, Tager, and MAYBE Rachel). I normally try to bait a burst with 2A>2B>3C>632146C which works most of the time. Also, would you guys mind critiquing my Carl? I'm gonna record a match to display how I play on Thursday.

Sol.Badguy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Help! I find carl so much fun to play, yet I find myself getting frusterated sometimes when I try to 3C>22D>236A>2B>2C, nirvana either doesn't teleport, or she ends up teleporting after I do the 236A so she's still on the same side as I am. If i try to do it slower so she's on the right side, I can never get the 2B off without them teching! Anyone have any advice?
Zoogstin Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 To be honest I don't use that setup. I practiced it a long time ago but my success rate was too inconsistent. If you use the IAD method you'll have a longer window for nirvana to teleport to the appropriate side than by doing the 236A method.
feri Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 3c 22d 236a 2b 2c wont work reliably against a few characters cause 2c will whiff but for the vast majority its solid. You will use j.2c when 2b 2c wont link because you've hit them with too many moves prior (this situation is rare and most likely your own fault you didnt hitconfirm sooner). A good example of this is a low IAD into j.a spam that took a player forever to hitconfirm. Since your doll is teleporting with you on the other side it seems you are just letting go of the button late or not using this simple shortcut which would probably just solve your problem on the spot. 2A 2B 3C 5 [2]D ~36A
Zoogstin Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I'll elaborate. try 2A 2B 3C 5 [2]D IAD j.C allecan. This method gives Nirvana more time to teleport to the appropriate side. If you have a feeling in your gut that she still may teleport to the wrong side when you jump, jump backwards a little bit before airdashing. That way you're on the side that Nirvana needs to be on a tiny bit longer.
Mascarpone Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Somthing worth noting about 3C 22D summoning: I have been for a long time now trying to break myself of the habit i have where instead of negative edging D i simply tap D. This seems to be bad because when you just Tap D, nirvana actually has to go through the few frames of her "i'm activating!" animation before the summon actually happens, where as if you already have her active while you are attacking she teleports within 1 frame. I wish i had never developed this tapping habit because it's becoming very difficult to free myself of and it really does effect summoning in combos allot. IDK if this might be your problem as well.
Sol.Badguy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Nah I just started playing some carl, I don't even know what negative edging is xD. But thank you all for your help! when I was practicing carl I was trying to hit 2B 3C then double tap down then d, then hurry and 236A, then hurry and 2B haha.
PhaethonH Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Another suitable followup to 3C 22]D[ is: IAD, j.2C (OTG) ~ Alle-Can, j.B, j.C, ... The early CS Carl is relying on this for the 2D loop, especially since 2C no longer has the untech time it did in CT. In CT, this combo is still valid, and has the added advantage of tightening up the "tech radius"... after the last j.C, if they tech, they end up right next to the middle of the clap bubble center. A forward-tech gets away from the ball but leads to an air reset trap (air gatling, j.214C -> 8]D[). The downside is the tight execution timing between j.2C~ACAN into j.B (short untech time).
Isuyaru Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 3C 22]D[ > IAD j.2C allecan > 5C > j.B 8]D[ blah blah blah dumb loops is something I've been starting to do lately. I probably got the idea from CS videos, I don't really remember. Works on everyone but Carl. Replace 5C with a delayed 5B to work on Carl, but it's not an easy timing. Not advisable to use this against Jin, Noel, or Taokaka; just j.2C allecan 2C them.
Xithmos Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I think 3C>22]D[>IAD>j2C Alle~can>j5B>j5C>8]D[>combo works on Carl and a few other characters.
Isuyaru Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I think 3C>22]D[>IAD>j2C Alle~can>j5B>j5C>8]D[>combo works on Carl and a few other characters. It's worth doing on Carl and Arakune for sure, I'm not really sure why I listed another combo to do on Carl when it's both inferior and harder (imo anyway). But for a ratio of damage to Nirvana life lost, the combo I posted is just slightly better for other characters. If you've ever been in a situation where the opponent survives with like no visible life bar, you should understand how important that last ~100 damage can be. And for Jin/Noel/Tao, you often just want to go into the loop as soon as possible for maximum damage. A combo starting with 2A 2B 3C is a good example. In that case, IAD j2C allecan 2C is by far the best setup. Buuut if you get some wacky combo starter and understand what will or won't combo depending on the hitstun proration points (and positioning; too many Carls try to loop too far away from the clap because they rushed it), this may very well not be the case in that scenario.
Xithmos Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 >_< Merw, school got in the way yesterday, so I couldn't post up a video. I just played a friend of mine and will put up two videos later today. EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB1n6rfLLRM I made a lot of mistakes in that match.
Mascarpone Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Lmfao at unlimited Carl in the DLC from today. like wow. it's so funny. Carl is now really slow and Nirvanna is unfathomably fast and all her moves have more hits. Con Fuoco flies out at abasurd speeds and Anima walks her acrss the screen at abotu the same rate Noel Runs at. this is just such an amusing toy. It's kinda stupid tho because carl's IAD = shittastic lol But you can basically just use Nirvana only for everything you do. Corner -> 8]D[ x N ... for serious XD
Adelheid Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Sigh. I bought all the DLC, then went to turn it on and oh hey my CT disk is busted.
Mascarpone Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I think we should have a Unlimited Character Combo thread for lulz.
Mascarpone Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 You really don't even need to use carl technically, but if you want some silly fun, just replace 6]D[ in all your ground loops with 41236]D[ . also Nirvana can combo on her own from from 8]D[ 2]D[ 623 ]D[ 236236]D[ has 23 hits and the rush down before the hay maker is too fast for insta-block punishment. it's just hilarious honestly. But except for Vivace B carl has absolutely no mobility XD
Mascarpone Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Yes but it seems like she has more HP. Carl seems like he has even less. If you can imagine that. I guess it's really Unlimited Nirvana. also, con Fuoco doesn't stop if carl guards or takes damage.

Zoogstin Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Lost to Slayer Alucard's (Doctor Akabane) Hakumen. Last round was time out. I've been playing a lot of CS lately and I completely forgot how to manage CT Nirvana's meter because she recovers sooooo slowly. I wasted so much time trying to out wait my opponent so I would have enough meter to go on the offensive. -_- uuuuug.....
Akiro Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Whats the exact timing on the 2D loop? I heard it could be done in CT but its near impossible for me to do. j2C>jB>2D>jC Repeat?
