feri Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yeah. I'm interested in this Vivace A usage vs Carl... got some vids?
ZONG_one Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 This has nothing to do with Vivace A, but there's a super cool punch loop crossover/reset at 1:25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpk98M8IWFI
Mikachiru Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 [2A>5A>5B>6B>6]D[] actually seems easier to do instead of [2A>5A>5B>5C>6]D[]. I'm really bad at pressing C while hold D...O.o
feri Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 D = r1 or you will fail forever or just get a stick.
Mikachiru Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 D = r1 or you will fail forever or just get a stick. R1 is rapid cancel for me (it's more useful than taunting). But that sounds like a good idea. I'll try it (I just have to un-learn to use X...I wish you could assign 2 buttons to the same command:gonk:). Thanks! I wish I had an arcade stick. Shoryuuken motion would be ALOT easier (why is Aida using RoM? I want my nail attack)...

Make L1 Rapid cancel, and get rid of taunt completely. Carl never needs to taunt. (And if you ever feel the need to, mashing 5D with nirvana in someone's face should suffice.) R1 Drive, I agree, is the only way to play Carl on pad. Honestly though, I suck on pad. IMO, a stick w/ config B is the only way to play Carl. Props to people who play Type A. Blows my mind.

I'm probably going to make R1= D, R2= Barrier, L1= Rapid cancel and L2= Barrier burst. X=...nothing. XD I think type B is easier. Just from looking at it. Is there really people out there that use type A? I want to meet one...
glassprison89 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Hey, I'm pretty new to DL and I have recently switched my main in blazblue from tager to carl clover. Tager was so simple and obvious to play, and I like Carl Clover's steeper learning curve. Question, who do you fellow Carls think is the best carl clover player? I've been watching some vids of Dio, Mechasue, and Kyaku, and Im guessing these three are considered the best, but what are your opinions?
Zoogstin Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Kyaku but its good to watch every carl video you come across because they all bring something different to the table.
ZONG_one Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I agree with zoogs. On Kyaku being the best, IMO. and on the blah afterwards. Some of the differences in playstyles between top Carl players are ridiculous.
MisoSowee Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 ya know it's actually not bad to play carl on a pad... although since i sub i'm not into the summon + alle-can thing yet. I can do punch loop pretty much 100% though with analog stick and drive on X (default) :D on another note:did anyone have an odd trouble of not doing the clap before the throw in clap loop while learning it? I'm stuck at that part so resets don't work... if I deliberately do clap before throw I end up messing up though..... So hard!
glassprison89 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Thanks for the replys, yea it really is amazing to see the different playstyles. Kyaku himself seems to be a very unique player. Watching his Bang is awesome as well because he plays completely differently from someone like Dora, as Kyaku seems to make more use of the bumpers which makes for an entertaining style.

Go to japan. lol. Carl player using A type. Right side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPdjhit7ZW4&feature=channel Also, nice throw bounce loop on Ragna. EDIT- I just noticed this Carl player does drop a lot of stuff. But that's not because of what type he plays. Just a thought.

MisoSowee Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 um I do the noob punch loop 2a 5a 5b 6b although I think that holding d and c is easier than d and b.... :\
Mikachiru Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 um I do the noob punch loop 2a 5a 5b 6b although I think that holding d and c is easier than d and b.... :\ Not when I have to reach from B to C...I can't do it. It seems harder for some reason...
MisoSowee Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 probably is Dx It's so nice not to have to do hard combos... gotta love haku :O
Mikachiru Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 probably is Dx It's so nice not to have to do hard combos... gotta love haku :O Hakumen is fun. Just not when I'm getting raped by them...
4Corners Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Hakumen players beat you? Okay, come over to Colorado right now. We're gonna catch ya up. Seriously though, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the Haku match. Hakumen can do stuff, but Carl still wins. It's fun though, if you give him time to build meter. Just rush him, though, and you'll have a pretty big advantage.
feri Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 One thing that's never mentioned but I might as well anyways. During the 2c 8d part late in your clap loop you will need to do 3c instead of the 2c then jump vertically and do 7d so nirvana walks toward you. If you do not then the opp can tech and airdash away. Also, I screw this up all the time
4Corners Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 ^this post is confusing me. Maybe it's because I just woke up.
Zoogstin Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Why would you ever wanna use 3C if you're not fighting Hakumen or Rachel?
MisoSowee Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 4corners you seem not to fight any patient haku's... if you "rush him down" it's really not hard to just counter in between Carl's hits considering he doesn't have much mix-up potential outside of nirvana (and when nirvana's about to punch you, it's like a punch to do 6d/2d :P) although you seem pretty pro so.... *shrugs*
4Corners Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Nah, I've fought Hakus that IB and shiz. I just freestyle the hell out of my pressure. I've found that 2a and 5a tick throws+8d/srk are fantastic in the second rep of pressure. Worst case scenario, he guesses right and techs the throw and the 8d whiffs, resetting the scenario. Best case, he either tries to jump out, or just eats the throw, leading to 6k damage and the situation being reset. Better yet, they start second guessing themselves, and just end up eating a 5b>whatever loop. Seriously, guys, we have a robot and a jump cancelable 5b! Why do we need to do canned pressure strings? And when Carl has meter... :D :D :D buuuuuuut, it might be that they haven't bothered to study fighting Carl much, since they think he's garbage without the loop. lololol Miso, how good are you with Haku? Maybe I can get over to a friend's house sometime and play ya on PSN, and see what a Haku that isn't clueless can do. I'm only good at making my theories sound invincible. I'm still working on alle-can teleport combos, cuz I had a crappy stick that ruined my positioning.
MisoSowee Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I'm really not that good. You'll be disappointed playing me. I'm more like a theory person. I know a few things that'll beat through but I hardly use it. Although subbing Carl has the benefit of knowing most of his moves, I'm super half assed at him lol usually I try to get all my counters in though. thankfully I've learned how to option select throws so... won't be as bad? :D
