4Corners Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I had to kill my HRAP so that I could keep playing. I'm very sad. D: I need to get some glue or something, some of the parts become disconnected waaaaaay too easy. Also, I have no headphone jack, and the only buttons that work are a, b, c, and d. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT At least I don't have to stop playing. :D alsoiputinajlfanddontdropcombosremotelyasmuchyay
mynus Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 watching the latest autonomous carl vids with Kyaku, Im left wondering why they continue to use universal clap on Nu and that really awkward clap loop on Litchi........have they not seen the light?
Zoogstin Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 They have to know something that we don't. For instance, Dio use to do clap loop on Nu like we do (just throw her over and over again) but recently I saw him do the alternative one (the variation where the orb misses). I'm perplexed by this as well.
feri Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 The reason is extremely obvious lol... Its all about keeping the cost for a clap loop to a minimum.
4Corners Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yep. I've started doing random resets to the people that I can't just clap to death. Also, everyone should learn Carl's solo loop on Tager. 4k damage off a random jump-in while charging Nirvana back up? Yes please. :D
Diveman Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Kyle: Were you able to test the Daisharin thing during the clap trap?
mynus Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 the loops are the same in construction (throw+clap, dash+clap/ throw+clap xN) they dont cost any more than the other. Only thing that would is keeping Nirvana active during the clap+throw xN. on the universal one they deactivate Nirvana after the first throw+clap and reactivate her during the dash+clap. But seriously? IDK maybe its just preference...
Kyle Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 The only thing I can think of is less Zzzz. Maybe they are getting Boo'd while doing the combo and choose to switch it up. lol...IDK
x3AlexSaysRawr Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 How do I Alle~Can I thought I was doing it right I wasn't Help
MisoSowee Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 copy pasta'd from my other post... "alle-can is pretty easy, just gets some used to. just do 2c and then immediately roll to 4 and press c again. you should be pressing the second C as the 2c actually hits." yes. although i'm no carl mainer... .that's just how i do it.
Zoogstin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 The only thing I can think of is less Zzzz. Maybe they are getting Boo'd while doing the combo and choose to switch it up. lol...IDK pfft whatever. In my eyes a throw loop is a throw loop.
Zoogstin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I have a few favorites myself on that CD. Haven't gotten their latest stuff. No Carl player should go more than a week without playing Carl. Its like abandoning your new born son or something. Did I make that weird enough?

I'm perplexed by this as well. Does the weird JP ones put Carl ina better position when the opponent does a throw break?
Zoogstin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 That can't be it considering how once Carl starts his throws, Nirvana is in the same spot anyways no matter what type of thowloop he's doing. The only time they move nirvana backwards is when they're making up ground for when Carl airdashes. This hurts my head a little bit.
Kyle Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 By "better position" I was referring to the frustrating mechanic where often times the opponent breaks a throw, get's hit by 8]D[ and falls straight to the ground making the pick-up EXTREMELY difficult. Needs testing, but I seriously don't want to learn those gimp loops... ours are better dammit! props to Kyaku for actually doing those goofy loops he recorded the first day. lol
Zoogstin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Gosh if thats the actual reason then I'm gonna be pissed.
Meaty Moments Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 no i completely agree and it hurts. he's gonna play like a lobotomized rhino when i finally get back... ughhh
4Corners Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I dunno, I can normally just dash in and decide whether they're fastfalling or not, and reset accordingly. I figure JP players would know how to do it even better. Pretty sure it's to save Nirvana meter via resetting. Each clap takes 140% of the health the previous one did in order to be used. Continuous activation is a baaaaaad thing, seriously.

Continuous activation is a baaaaaad thing, seriously. To compensate for this they are doing the universal clap loop with the corner set-up. Recent vids shown Kyaku going into this (2) separate ways i haven't seen/done before. A JP did the Basketball combo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPdjhit7ZW4&feature=channel_page
4Corners Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Sooooooooo Gear super is broken as hell. I got to play PhaethonH this weekend. He's not bad, but I think that unless I MM him, he's a gunna sandbag. D: Buuuuuuuuuuut That doesn't mean he wasn't playing Carl like a gay little character. 5b jc j2c alle-can is retarded if they aren't expecting it. Seriously, I think you can win rounds with that alone. He almost always JCed any jcable move when Carl was alone, which worked well for a while, but is telegraphed as hell and gets you airgrabbed/allegretto'd soooooooo easily. I'll post more on it in the Carl v Carl thread. But ummmmm Back to the gear super! If you get a chance to burst>clap and you can take it until they're sitting pretty at 1 health, do it! Seriously, after that, it's GGs. What you do is clap loop until they have 1 health, then you let them drop between you and Nirvana. Backdash/set it up so they can't roll away from you Then 5c+whatever Nirvana move you want to use to keep them locked in place and gear super to kill with chip damage. Imma prolly be doing 5c~6d xx gear It's stupid. Also, gears as your super flash buffer is too good. There's a LOT more, but srsly, this super is duuuuuuuuuuumb. OOOOOOOH! There's a use for Anima! pressure them into it (easiest way is gear), so that they'll get the purple throw marks. Dash in while they're busy teching, and do a quick low. It's dirty, and it works. Use very sparingly, I'd think.
feri Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I think we've gone over all you've said except the grabbing during the gear super. I'm sure you could make some tech trap setups with Anima but with the way OS throw works and how slow her walk is I'm not so sure it would be stable/viable mixup.... but play around with it if you wish.
4Corners Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Going over it and actually doing it are two entirely different things. Kyle's never done 5b jc iad j2c allecan against me, evar. Actually, no Carl really has. Same with using gears to chip to death. I just wanted to bring it back to attention because of how well it works. It's more of a gimmick mix-up, but stiiiiiill.
feri Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 i've been using it for awhile and didnt come up with it myself so I read it here, forgot exactly where. I'm thinking zero posted it. Its fine to bring back attention to it. Its one of the few ways you can land some real damage on Rachel. I'd like to add that resetting your nirvana bar and doing double claps into fermata when the opponent techs your throw is so great that you WANT them to tech lololol.
