Hi, I don't play Ky or anything, but if anyone knows the answer to my question, I'd figure it would be the people in this forum. So the question is, how is "Ky Kiske" pronounced? I've always pronounced it as Kai Keeskay, because I'd figure the game is from Japan so the "e" at the end of "Kiske" would be pronounced (like Sasuke from Naruto or Kagome from Inuyasha). What are your thoughts?

Well, he's supposed to be french, so I honestly have no clue. But the way the in game announcer says it seems to rhyme with pie disk.

He's named after Kai Hansen, so saying it as "Kai" is correct. Kiske is originally spelled "Kisuke" in the japanese language so saying that way would make most sense.

No, that's totally wrong. The Japanese is written カイ=キスク, or Kai Kisuku, as is represented by all the Japanese media. It's definitely pronounced without a stressed vowel at the end. The English version of Overture also follows this.

I can't actually read japanese, I just know that's how you'd say it. EDIT: Not to mention Micahel Kiske's last name is said that way too, which is where his last name came from.

Yeah, it comes from Michael Kiske, but Ky's last name is definitely pronounced more like "Kisk" or "Keesk," depending on your level of inflection. I mean, that's just what the kana says.

As a Korean, I have my two cents:

Since "ki" is a syllable derived from the addition of the "k" consonant and the "i" ("ee" as in "leer," "leet," "leek") vowel sounds (き + い = きor whatever, that shit), I'd say that it's pronounced as "KEEEEE" more than anything.

But that's just a Korean talking.

카이

edit: Everyone knows Japanese people are only capable of hiragana syllable pronunciations ;p

How's Michael Kiske's last name pronounced (Keeske or Kiskay)? Michael's Kiske's name in katakana is also キスク.

Kiskay. Which also is how every Ky player I've ran into. Pronounces his name. Kai Kiss-kay. Jokingly I'll sometimes say Kai Kai-skay as Japan Core has taught me. Made his Name even more awesome by changing the I in Kiske to a Y.

I'm pretty sure Stark's right; however, 'KEESE-kay' seems to roll off the tongue a lot more smoothly. Say it how you like.

Alright, I want to put this one to bed once and for all. I've created that account specifically for that reason.

Ky is pronounced like hi with a K. It comes from Kai Hansen, who was a guitarist for Helloween.

Kiske is pronounced like kiss and the Spanish word for what - qué. So it would Kissqué or Kiské (alternatively: Kisk'e'). It comes from Michael Kiske, who was the singer for Helloween.

Michael Kiske is one of, if not the most, my favorite singers and it was painful for me to hear it pronounced incorrect.

Are there any other users of this French Holy Knight, besides myself, who feels a new ACR video thread should be made? Or is my favourite fighting game of all time too "dead" to be even bother to do so :(
