LOL holy shit. instant j.2D. I've never seen this done but uh. That's definitely an interesting one.

 

Funny story, that was my thoughts when I saw that posted. No Ramlethal ever tried that on me nor did I ever see it in a video until last weekend where I got hit with this opening twice lol. I'd recommend starting matches maybe with backdash or maybe neutral jump (Ram's don't seem to try projectile as an opener?). Most common attack I see from her is f.S.

 

 

Anyone else feel like Ram is a better Venom? _like srslyyyyyyyyyyyyy_

 

Also, anyone found any stuff that beats her air normals? Cuz she can flail her limb all match like a wet dildo and I can't slap it away cuz Venom's own jP is too slow and his other air normals hit at specific angles (and are also slow compared to hers). Also Teef is obviously the best Venom in the world if he can shit talk so well.

 

If you can't beat her in the air when she flails, like Pomparomp said, stay on the ground and AA.

 

Summon YRC can be a useful tool to force her to block. Able to launch at the appropriate angle to touch her.

Yeah I noticed this weekend sometimes c.S(3) would get 3 blocked hits on her crouching. Seemed a bit inconsistent, is it spacing dependent?

 So yea, probably a laaaaate-no-point-post but her hat apparently makes it so we can get c.S(3) on crouch. Not too close or too far. AIM THAT STICK TO HER HEAAAAAAD

Finally got some experience under my belt with this matchup. Unfortunately I also got absolutely crushed, lol.

If the sword is already set on top of you (inactive) and the ram sets it to attack again, it will come out FAST. WAY faster than it does when the thing has to travel at you. After you burst in the corner, it's unsafe to set balls or stinger without YRC. Ram's 6P is not that great but her 5H with sword is monstrous and can lead to big damage so be picky with your jump ins, always have a ball set up and really, just approach from the ground unless it's oki. Safe jump Explode when she has meter, as it's her only reversal option outside of DAA. If you get in the corner, good luck. Shit is awful. FD a LOT to push her away, and try to watch for command grab or you'll eat like 1/3 of your life or so.

Holy shit, the matchup is hilarious now. I only played a few games against our local really good ram but I believe it's totally in venom's favor now.

Originally, the gameplan was to immidiately respond to ram placing a sword with a yrc stinger then use the timestop to run away from the sword swipe and start pressuring a sword-less ram. Now, you can actually place balls like K-ball then hit them while at the same time accidentally tagging any swords that show up. Hell I was able to 6H both swords on multiple occasions. It was a surprise being able to zone ram now.

That's not been my experience at all. You're still owned if you happen to ball set a few frames after she does a sword set, and if she stays mobile it's still a risky idea to try and knock her out of the sky with how well she can stall her momentum and counterhit your 6p. You're still autodead if she touches you midscreen and you don't have dead angle or burst too. 

 

Still feel fucking miserable playing against her to be honest.

Normal Block

-the last hit can be countered with c.S(timing dependent), 1-frame jump, Dark Angel, or Blitz Shield

 

Instant Block

-you can throw Ramstein after 5K>5P and 5P>5P

-you can Blitz Shield after 5K>5P and 5P>5P

-you can back-dash after 5K>5P and 5P>5P

-and instant blocking the 5P>5P practically lets you do anything you want; she is in counter-hit state if you hit her with a fast enough move

 

c.S/f.S>Diarhea

 

Normal Block

-throw that shieeeeeet (kind tight yo, gotta wait for that booty to be up in your gryll, ifyouknowwhatImeanohhbby)

-you can back-dash out, but it's tight like her, yeyeye

 

Instant Block

-you can throw and back-dash easier and now Blitz Shield

 

Yo Ramstein here, no idea how I ended up here but I would like to chime in on some of these stuffs.

 

5KPP and 2KPP don't need instant blocking to be counterable. On normal block you can jab or cS between the last two hits. 5KPK and 2KPK are tighter and can't be interrupted, but are very punishable on block and only give knockdown on hit.

 

fS>Dauro is not a blockstring so you can throw or BS between hits. I play some guys who consistently throw me if I try to do this so it's all a gimmick. She did get some nerfs so you should always be able to punish on IB now. If you normal block the regular version she's in -4 so don't be scared. IB that and punish with anything you want. Green dauro is -1 on block, IB that for punish as well.

 

I'm unsure how the matchup is now but it's definitely changed, one of the most changed matchups I believe. Venom have better range on a lot of stuff, can now outzone Ram with ease and have stronger pressure, while Ram have greater damage on her stuff. It feels pretty even. If you burst or DA-attack when she's deploying swords in the corner they will die and Ram can't even retrieve them for 2 seconds. Use this opportunity to get in her face as she have no range at all without them.
