Magatama Junkie Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7659219 this video has a lot of really good stuff I can't tell what's going on cause it's japanese. Use the mmcafe link if you can't watch nico like me. Credit goes to Zazzarius from SRK, though I could have sworn he had an account over here.
Kumlekar Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Don't complain about lag online is the best advice I can give you. In any case I don't believe your inability to block was a result of lag, it's a result of being impatient. Honestly, to play this game competitively, you really shouldn't waste your time playing online. At least that's my conclusion after 1-2 sessions online. Not talking about the video I posted, I had a match against a ragna player where I would be holding a direction for a noticeable amount of time before my character reacted. I wasn't even able to block hells fang from maximum distance on reaction. I was really angry when I posted. Wow, some of those j.2C combos are really good.
Kumlekar Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Sorry for the double post, Heres some matches I played last night against ShiningAquas: Note: There is sound but music is turned off, so don't think its glitching out at the intro. Note 2: He mains litchi so only the first two videos are really any good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTVkyl2i3rA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Fomb9VzztA&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn8-LsID-LA&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0PsysAjtnU&feature=channel
ryokoalways Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Block, please. Significantly less b and c moves against litchi. She outranges you and also has faster moves. need good use of a. Please remember you have catches, so RTSD should never EVER work on hakumen. The only person that can RTSD on haku is Jin because he is just a frame trap waiting to happen. Everyone else will have to respect catch if you show them you can IB. Some of it looks just like you don't know the matchup. Watch some JP vids or something. Again, RTSD should not work on hakumen. Tate litchi should never have had the freedom to do as she wishes.
Kumlekar Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 RTSD? Whats that? Still working on IB-ing, I'm getting used to stick still, when I attempt to IB, half the time I hit 1 when I mean to hit 4 or vice versa.
doug1291 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 just played the game for the first time today. my friend brought it over. IBing happens a lot more than i expected it to. i was able to beat my friend's carl about 25% of the time and hes had the game for a week. i think i would have had more success had i been able to combo more things than 6C > 632146C. oh and the drive counter has such a small window, it was so hard to hit with it. i had the most success with the air one. i attempted j.2C combos but i was never able to get more than 2 hits off w/o screwing up. the dash is hard for me for some reason. just curious, when (if at all) does 2C launch the opponent? and does it successfully link into the j.2C combo?
whitevoid Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 it never launches. well unless if they have been knockdown or already launched. 2C does combo into j2C and jC (i think it combos into jC) on standing hit if that's what you were asking. I'm not sure if you can follow that up with anything tbh.
doug1291 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 thanks. i really messed up then, cuz half the time i was trying to find ways to launch that shit. another question, when an enemy jumps in and i 6a, can i combo that into 6c and then ultimately 632146c? it worked a couple of times, but a lot of times it was recoverable.
faultydefense Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 if 6A is a counterhit and the 6C hits them before they hit the ground
doug1291 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 ahhh i see. the times it worked they mustve been counter hits. should i always try to get counter hits then? on the 6a?
faultydefense Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 odds are it will generally be counter hit, the most often times it connects you'll probably be knocking your opponent out of an air attack
doug1291 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 thats what i thought, but sometimes my friend doesnt attack when he jumps in, he might block instead or even do nothing at all. and sometimes hed jump in when Nirvana was in the middle of an attack and i wouldnt know what to do.
Josh Ballard Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 So I made a trip to NYC the week before Evo to level up in SF4, and it turns out they have a new website/Youtube channel called frame-advantage.com which records matches for various games each week. The best part is that they include the commentary & banter from the players while maintaining high video quality. As such, we now have a couple videos of my console noob Hakumen on the interweb. Watch for the rare sight of me talking shit, Arturo randomly saying everyone's free, and the site admin calling me out for retardedly rushing down Arakune while cursed! Note that since FA's content thus far has been all Capcom-oriented, I try to break down game basics & matchup stuff for any of the new people who might be watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h1BQKTMzKY - vs. DS Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMHjCoiDo7s - vs. NerdJosh Carl
ryokoalways Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Noob hakumen my ass :o. It's easy to tell that you know what you are doing. You may be new to blazblue but you have basic understanding done pat. You are basically in the stage where j2c loop is everything right now.

Keo-bas Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 hey guys, been a while. heres some of my replay from live. hopefully you will enjoy them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJpdHtZlMPY vs V13 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4gAXsC_Yps vs Tager
ryokoalways Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 i skimmed the matches. Two things I can think of immediately. Learn to play cautious, not passive. Stop using zantetsu as an overhead.
frcflyingjohnny Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Here's a tip Keo-Bas: do NOT ever corner yourself. If you haven't figured it out yet, it is the worst possible thing you can do. If you were fighting any Arakunes or Rachels you'd have not uploaded those matches. Learn to stay in the middle of the screen and block there. A lot of players do things like aggressively block. Like jump in or dash in, then block instead of attack. You gotta stay in the center of the screen to stay alive. When you jump in close to your enemy(center of screen), just try to grab em/wait for grab attempts and block with your life till you get some megatamas. Anything attacks you throw out is up to you man, good luck.
Keo-bas Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I hear you guys out. How ever this is not my comfort zone so I cant comply. Im person who reads the situation out, im not aggressive unless I know my opponent defensive. I actually like being corners because I feel I can predict a few things better. Through my careers as competitive player, Im known for being able to do well in disadvantage point. But I admit i cant recommend this to any one. especially against arakune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-WHkLdR-4s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yviHxcpxrT4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rZq1q3qc78
Kumlekar Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Fair enough, you like being in corners, but against nu? Nu has no reason to ever close in on you, staying in the corner is just putting yourself at a disadvantage.
