  1. SF4AE (XBOX 360) UMVC3 (XBOX 360) BBCP (PS3) When: November 23, 2013 Sign ups start at 7:00pm Tournament starts at 8:00pm Where: The Wasteland Gaming 3700 satellite blvd #7B Duluth, GA 30096 $5 Venue Fee $5 Pot Fee
  2. I really want to see both events happen personally. I voted for teams because the community loves to flake out on whatever "silly team tournament" that happens on the side. Everyone talks about them and gets hype and excited -- but they just don't happen. I think enough people will want singles that it will happen regardless, even if it is a 'side tournament' -- so I think this has the best chance of allowing both to happen.
  3. can we play vampire savior on sunday pls
  4. QBee's anti air is the weakest part of her game. s.MK isn't bad but it won't work in every or even most situations. LUCKILY you get a million anti airs to choose from based on the situation. These moves can all anti-air/anti-jump based on the situation, and you kind of just have to get a feel for what to do against different chars. Especially against the chars with stronger jumpins, her AA game is really fickle. s.mk s.mp c.hp c.hk s.lp s.hk j.lp + positioning yourself to c.mp their landing Eshi: definitely, let's carpool
  5. qbee qbee qbee :3 bzz(she's fair) That said I actually need to really work on solidifying my play and doing things that are more real less feel~ who's going to play vampires with me at mwc?
  6. omnisscythe vs bace lets go <3
  7. if people want to put money on stf matches that's fine by me but really I just want to get some good games rolling
  8. Despite everything in the world trying to stop be from coming to this(read: my car breaking 3 times -_-), I will still be in attendance. Circumstances kept me from pre-regging but hopefully emergency registration won't close. I'll be in Thursday afternoon and leaving Monday night. Edit: Who wants to challenge the GREAT STF to a 3v3 match?
  9. So no one gets confused looking at your combo : he means 5b(ch) 2d, not 2c. Optimally speaking you can add a 2b after the second 5b for a slight increase in damage/meter gain.
  10. I wouldn't recommend doing b+d->power charge against narukami. Most of his setups actually put him in a position to punish the power charge, or at least force you to block anyways.
  11. I'll probably be snagging a hotel room for this but I need to find people to split it with me..
  12. In the corner you can do: B Skullcracker -> 5C 236B~236B -> 5C 236B~236A 236236D -- iirc this is more than the combo you're using.
  13. I was the us hisoutensoku god~~~ probably tied with Magister or slightly behind except in hisoutensoku 1.03 where I was prob without doubt the strongest player (my character was stronger than his by a pretty large margin here and I developed her quickly) -- but I don't really play anymore outside of requests. Also one of the top 2 current iamp players in the US. I won our last netplay tournament but usually Mauve edges me out a bit in casuals.
  14. Is 5a/2a tight after jbbc on block? That'd be a main reason I would avoid using it. j.bb 5a is a tight blockstring so you can't be DP'd, and you already mentioned the options of goign low/aoa/instant skullcracker that are useful to have.
  15. When you go to a tournament, you pay to play and find out who the best player is. That's the purpose of putting the money on the line. Of course this isn't the only reason to play fighting games, everyone has to start somewhere and you don't start as a "best player." For players competing with the mindset of "I want to/I'm going to win" a paid tournament is usually the way to go. At the end of the day $5 is a pretty small amount of money to help prepare your play and your mindset for NCR, EVO, SCR, etc etc -- when you play in tournaments all the time it really helps you play to 100% in a major. I can assure any of you planning to travel at all and wanting to do well in other tournaments, playing with money on the line (even minor) WILL help. (And of course if you're entering with the mindset of "I'm going to win" you have no issue putting money on the line as you are planning on winning it back anyways) That said, there are plenty of players who have already resigned to losing. It's no secret that there are (oftentimes large) skill gaps in the fighting game community. It can be caused by a variety of things and everyone has their own reasons, and that's fine. I think it's kind of silly to expect players like this to play in a paid tournament. I'll play Marvel - but I don't enter tournaments for it! That's because I don't practice Marvel with the intention/desire to win tournaments. These players can still play to win, want to improve, and learn from the tournament experience - but of course the entry fee comes across more as a "tax" than anything else. I think this idea of a "bad player tax" is kind of silly. I don't push people to go to tournaments because I want to win money from them, I push them to show up to tournaments so they can play offline and grow through playing. In my area we had a pretty active tournament scene for a while but the top players settled in quickly and we had pretty much the same top4 every tournament, this, combined with our local venue offering very little casuals(new/weak players are unable to grow), caused attendance to start dropping. Everyone already knew the players that were going to win etc and many players more or less gave up on the game or now enter "just to support." If it was up to me, tournaments would be full of players who (rightfully) plan on winning(not "just supporting"), or at the very least, kicking a lot of ass. But as I mentioned before we all play games for different reasons, have differing amounts of time and money, p4 isn't your main game, you're waiting for blazblue cp etc etc. -- and even still, only one player can win and 25% of entrants (must) go 0-2. I wonder how many SoCal players are still hungry? How many people are sitting at home practicing for Rebel Up thinking to themselves "I'm going to beat brkrdave this time." or "I need to practice the Mitsuru matchups so I don't lose to TLoc/shtkn again." etc etc. How would it feel to them if they finally won, but that win didn't mean anything. I know most of the players out there, and they are great guys, but if you finally beat brkrdave in a tournament and he just kind of shrugged it off "eh, well these tournaments don't really mean anything anymore so I wasn't really trying that hard..." But outside of the topX players, free play is honestly a lot better for growth. Hell, you could even run jp style team matches. Free entry, random teams, single elim. It's a pretty fast and fun event that breaks the ice for new players by pairing them up with people - and of course if your teammate is counting on you you don't want to let them down! Edit: anyways regardless of what the community decides to do, just know that you guys have an event which makes the rest of the country(or at least me!) very jealous. So enjoy it
  16. i want to come and hang out with you vrraiden + every other virginia dude i don't know how feasible this is we'll see
  17. Kajoq will be running a VSAV tournament, it's probably going to be on Sunday. I'm sure there will be a lot of casuals too. This is probably the best place to look regarding start times, signups etc: https://www.facebook.com/groups/197383233629950/ I'll try to post anything here about side tournaments I find out during the event. Alternatively call/text me with any questions 770-595-4432
  18. Okay, if for whatever reason Astaroth's converter isn't going to work for you, I found you another one. My friend Markus said you could borrow his, so let me know if you need it.
  19. Jackie, 1.1 ms is about 1/16th of a frame, so it's a pretty fast response time. The only "theory" I've heard about the Cronus connector is that it draws too much power from the USB which can cause lag within the USB. The only reports of real lag I've heard of is MarlinPie bitching about it at Apex. I'm honestly more likely to believe that the lag he experienced was caused by PS3 Marvel, and not by the Cronus adapter. Edit: I guess a few people are experiencing this. I'll see if I can find someone who would lend you their converter.
  20. This sunday is final round so no good for me I should be good for next sunday though
  21. Kyle will correct me if I'm wrong, but your damage dealt is increased based on how much white life your opponent has, so after a combo a "simple" c.mp poke does more damage than it would normally.
  22. Primiera, you are +f on cr.MK hit, which opens up a few options. Most overlooked being something like step forward c.MP, dash.LK, ex CR(41236PP) isn't a bad option either, especially since bee doesn't really have much to do w/her meter outside of some tight confirms. I try to confirm into sweep when I know I'm close enough and go for a knockdown mixup, but c.LK>c.MP>c.MK is a good confirm too, just learn to play the patience game after the MK and you'll be set, no need to rush into another mixup, QBee isn't only strong because of her mixups, her normals are great too! Edit: forgot to mention floating. This will beat most mash options your opponents have vs IAD after c.MK, you can just whiff punish those with a airdash j.mp -> combo. Since it's a whiff punish you can usually get a exCR here.
  23. 2C is probably around 2 frames slower than 5C, which would be why you're having an easier time doing 236a~236a 5b 2C 236b compared to doing it with 5C, I remember running some tests to see if 2C could be used in combos along with 5C and see how it impacts damage/proration and I ultimately decided it should probably never be used in an optimized combo, but I don't remember my reasoning for that, it was a while back. I'll have to investigate it again.
  24. Darkforce and float > 426p are both invaluable tools to avoiding being bubble looped to death. Otherwise Kyle has you covered, keep in mind that using cmd throw during pressure throws the opponent out of the corner, it does however make a great defensive option for those point blank mixups.
  25. Wow! Great video. This is pretty awesome. One thing to note about the 214C 236236A combos though... you won't be gaining any meter for most of them because of the cooldown on meter gain caused by using power charge. Just something to keep in mind! Edit: AND YOU ALREADY MENTIONED THAT. I'll just put my foot in my mouth.
