Naoto's fruit loops are dumb, but her options against pressure aren't much better than Liz's and she has trouble challenging characters with superior normals, I was derping against Marq's Labrys yesterday (I don't want to think about what Mitsuru or Yu is like). Also kind of difficult to get respect from mashier players, but I barely know basic combos right now. I'm gonna have to hit the lab tonight and test out all of her normals and gatlings and really get her IAD combos down. -
It looked pretty much the same in the PV, who knows if they change it though. Would be cool if Tsubaki was a "light and darkness" user.

Probably old news, but here's some tips for IAD combos since I was practicing them earlier: -Height when you hit the first 5C is important. You have to wait for the opponent to fall a bit, and hit them with 5C when they're right about Naoto's eye level. -Jump cancel for the IAD as soon as you can. -Hit the jA/B, jC, 5C as soon as you can. I was thinking I had to delay the 5C or stagger the jA > jC, but 5C's hitbox is a little bit higher than it appears. Using these my success rate has gone up a lot, the IAD combo after a corner throw is kind of a bitch though, probably just gonna do 236B/A bnb or go for death counters instead since the damage is so bad anyway. Basically in Persona and BlazBlue there's a system that's supposed to prevent abusable loops and infinites by giving certain moves "Same Move Proration". If you use a move with SMP more than twice in a combo, the hitstun will drastically decay, pretty much ending your combo. But it was discovered that for some reason, if you use 10 unique moves with SMP in the same combo, the 11th move with SMP won't be applied normally. Naoto just happening to have a lot of moves with SMP, along with Mudoon counting twice towards the 10 SMP moves and having some positive proration by itself, resulted in the silly loop. -

I've been mashing both buttons together but sometimes I end up "over-mashing" and get 16 hits without the followup. Just gotta grind out the timing I guess. It seems like JP players get it in like 1 second lol, they truly are masters of the mash. Chris who are you playing? -

Can Naoto get anything off of her short hop? Trying 2A+C > jA > jB > 5B but it seems like the landing recovery from the hop prevents anything from actually combo'ing. Also do we know what moves of Naoto's are plus or even on block or are we still in the dark on frame data? -

Fuck Naoto is actually hard. Also the box layout is messing with my mind lol. Also anyone have any tips for getting the 15 hits on AoA consistently? Like any visual cues? I can get the hits pretty easy just mashing A+B but timing the last part for the C/D Fatal is tricky. -

j236A has an orb too now huh? I wonder if she can still do the orb "oki" without using a charge by delaying a dive. Hopefully orb > D dive followup is still in too.

That would make sense, but this is Arcsys here... People on Mu's jbbs pretty much sharing our sentiments from what I can decipher, apparently there looks like two open spots on the character select screen. Let's keep up the faith.

The main issue with Arakune compared to other characters is that most of the cast doesn't have any tools to interact with his gameplan. Unless you have a good DP, you can't challenge his jB, or get out of his gapless jB pressure. You also can't really meaty him on wakeup because of his Slayer backdash BS. Letting him hitconfirm more easily off of A mash lets him get rewarded for doing stupid/"scrubby" things. Another problem is how dead angles and green bursts use up your guard primers in Extend, making Arakune's curse pretty much the end of the round like CT for most characters. He basically became this character that gets rewarded for being random, and punishes the other player for trying to use their defensive mechanics. As opposed to CS2 where he was still strong but had to work harder to curse and the other player got more than one chance after being cursed. I still want to see what Tsubaki's sonic boom and command grab look like. -
If they're not in, I'll be salty, but find some other character to play. I'm still hoping it's like pktazn says, that they're not sure of how their Overdrives should work and they'll be playable in another loketest. I'll say this much though, I never found any character in the game to be as much fun, and offer as much creativity, as Mu does (except maybe Rachel), despite some of the dumb stuff she has. To not include them would be a huge waste of two characters that still have a lot of potential.

Well, maybe "deserves" is too much, but it would certainly be nice to not be "that character everyone forgets is in the select screen".

Goodness knows the poor girl deserves it. Two games of being a bad character, and one game of being a decent-but-autopilot character. It would really fit the story that "Dark" Tsubaki ain't playing around anymore too. And yeah, hopefully Overdrive is more tame like HD-mode than X-Factor. It's looking like they really want some characters to gain more combo options in Overdrive mode. It's kind of hard to see what direction they want to take with the game; so many changes.

So just to confirm, is Tsubaki's mugen Overdrive-exclusive now? It looks like the command for it is still on her command list, but I was under the impression that all characters that had "Install" distortions had them moved to their Overdrives. Also wondering if 3C and 6A are still FCs, and if 3CC still has bonus proration.

Rachel's new move sounds pretty lol, still holding out hope for my cowgirl. =( Also BlazBlue got HD mode now. Now that there's more information it sounds a lot more balanced than I thought. -
Maybe they could speed up like her SG powerup in Abyss mode. Inb4 they'd slow them down to CS1 speed, then they speed up to CS2/CSX speed in Overdrive

Loss of unblockables is sad, but it looks like she's getting some interesting new tools and and actual DP for once and becoming less one-dimensional. Liking the sound of the blades super. Can use it for enough time to approach/mixup, or maybe even get some charge if the blockstun is that long.

Arakune is S-Tier in Extend; a mash into 40% curse, 100% curse near corner or off 5D hit midscreen, random 2C fatal into full curse, stupid full curse super, and jC instant overhead crossup BS into 7k. And if you actually manage to block his mixup in curse, you get your guard primers broken and die anyway. He requires execution for his more advanced stuff but once you learn that stuff he's probably one of the least interactive characters in the game. Also I'll be mad disappointed if they fucking removed my character from the game. Anyways, P4 tomorrow.
