Yeah, 2D has a pretty huge vertical hitbox. Its pretty much bnb by now to do 2D after jK or a close kabari-tetsuzansen hit and then go into a aircombo. And of course you also have the tatami into 2d hj-combos on potemkin and robo. So yeah, rather use 2D than c.S to make sure it hits. And 5s 2d, and especially 2s 5s are pretty brustproof so I like to do those off the counterhit instead (i might not always succeed with it though, but thats just execution). I only use 6H if I want to focus on okizeme midscreen, and then I do like 6H iad jP jD for a fastfall. So its all active choice's by my.

Actually you dont need a counterhit to combo off Baku. On normalhit you can combo into 2k 5s etc. Just be careful so you don't time the 2k wrong, 'cause then you will get the followup and it wont combo aka you die. So you do a baku, confirm if its either coutnerhit or normalhit. If it is a normalhit, do 2k 5s. Then confirm if they are crouching or standing. If they are standing and are tall enough, do 5s to jD (Ino is also tall enough). If they are crouching, and close enough, you can do 2k 5s tatami etc. Otherwise, do 2k 5s 2s. And of course, if its counterhit you can do dashin 5s 5hs tatami or 6k tatami etc for that broken damage (and aircounterhit is untechable, do dashin 2s 5s jS jD or like 5s 2d js jD etc.) Me and Yonasu(sl) capped some games yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x9a6TePjUA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7UjB9dr1CQ Feel free to watch.

I only watched a bit, I can quickly give some general advice: research combos (waste less tension, get knockdown, etc.) waste less tension (partially in the above) research counterhit-properties (so you can optimize the reward from them) there is pretty much no reason to do 2P in the way that you are using it. 2K is faster, and has a certain forward-momentum that will give you better options for combos. optimize okizeme and mix it up more than you are (but since you have to score more knockdowns aka optimize your combos it kinda comes with that) since you seem to pretty new to baiken, but not supernew to GG so. Just try to understand baiken better and think about how to optimize and utilize her abilities even better- start of by doing that and keep it up and you and your IN-friend should discuss the matchup more, so it won't look as mashy as it does atm. still pretty decent though, keep up the good work. as away if you have more questions nice that even in the states some ppl are still playing Guilty Gear (aka best game ever)

Long time no post! Southern Cross Ranbat 4.1 RoundRobin-Tournament 2009-10-03 http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=16EBD03AA8D1BE38 Another Ranbat for the South of Sweden has been held! This time, we decided to go for (the rather unhype) tournamentruleset of just going by one roundrobin. I just selected some "bestbouts" out of them all and here you go: (disclaimer: no whacky commentary this time, next time though!) Koas(JA) vs Svampen(BR) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCLj1Mmters Svampen(BR) vs Yonasu(SL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4pahCWBNxE Nehle(DI) vs Yonasu(SL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEQwL-EWRuQ Glenn(MI) vs Yonasu(SL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBaeWxrpgng Shinjin(BA) vs Nehle(DI) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6_TD0MnN_4 Nehle(DI) vs Svampen(BR) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVnK3com-Vw Shinjin(BA) vs Svampen(BR) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJkZG8xy_0c Results from the tournament are in the youtube-videoinfos. Stay tuned, for in November we will have another tournament were everybody that is somebody in Sweden will attend! And the format will be hype, there will be proper commentary and people will scream like little schoolgirls running away from that molester-guy.

The Good, the Bad, and Ugly as Hell Baiken Matchups
Shinjin replied to THE SERAPHIC 1's topic in Baiken
Yeah, optionselecting alot at during the defensive play is awesome I miss playing and hanging out with the GG-guys in Japan/Kansai I'm having fun here in Sweden also, but there is something different between playing Tsujikawa(SL) regurarly and Yonasu(SL) regurarly Even though he is trying to get those Japanese SL-strats going as well! It is a pretty even matchup though, and definitly doable. Use the tips & tricks that around on these recent posts and you should be just fine. Both me and The Monkey sit on alot of knowledge so keep on asking if somethings up. -
The Good, the Bad, and Ugly as Hell Baiken Matchups
Shinjin replied to THE SERAPHIC 1's topic in Baiken
honestly I just read the part about the combo, but yeah ^^ you get like 10 more damage by doing frc jD-combo for 25% more tension, so its up to you guys to chose how you spend it. I personally like to save it. still a good write up by the monkey, good work at describing the range-games and the poking game. depending on how the good defense the slayer has, your options after a knockdown will either be very very limited or, limited. like monkey said, bdc is really strong and can kill your mixup in alot of instances, as well as his 2p. If you want to use 6K for killing the 2p, be aware that range is key. Against alot of characters you can kill abare by pretty much doing just moves that are + on block (like 6K), but Slayer will effectively kill all pressure-extension with an IB followed up by a 2P. So you can either just take advantage of the fact of that you will most likely have the upper hand when it comes to positioning if he blocks you're mixup. If you wanna play it a bit more risky, using 6P as a counterpoke after +moves beats his 2P cleanly. also using iad back jS is important to stop him from using mappa to counter you'r back-tatamis when he is a bit closer to you and you want to get some distance. Jumping up and using jP can also be a good reaction on him instantairdashing, since it will in alot of situations stuff you're opponents jS, which is Slayers natural counter vs airthrowing. effectively using counters is also very important in this match. Now the better the Slayer, the less they will use the moves I'm listing below, but if they do you should be sure to counter them appropiatly. (on block) 6HS, Sakura Mappa, Sakura, or IB punish 6P, Sakura (look out for frc on 6P) 2D, Sakura, or IB'punish if it hits you early into 2k 5s tatami It's Late, Sakura 5D, Sakura You can also, you kinda have to read your opponent to do this one, counter his 6K. Unless it hits really really really late, you'll pretty much always score a aircounterhit. Preferably Youshijin, but Baku is also a viable option if you want to use tension for no proration. Bursting Slayer can be difficult as well since he has very burst-safe combos. So your options are either to do a downburst on the bounce after 5HS, the bounce on a jHS-counterhit (if you ate one) and maybe on certains j2K in his combos (you kinda have to know how his combos work to be able to burst on those efficiently). Imo, downbursts is the "safest" way to go. using kabari is also dangerous versus good slayers. on close distance they have the option of jumping. on longer distances they can just use it to build while in dandy. They can either Dandy -Sfollowup or Pilebunker to clashit, and then cancel that into another dandy or 5P or whatever. Heck they can even cancel it into DeadonTime and if you pretty much do anything else other than FD-cancel, you die. You're 5D is Dead on Time on block, keep that in mind. Tatami without frc is Dead on time on block, keep that in mind. Using 2HS in pressure comes with a risk. It is guaranteed SB into 2P 5K (into Dead on Time). Buuuuuuuuuut most of this stuff is stuff you only have to worry about in Japan. -

Shinjin replied to THE SERAPHIC 1's topic in Baiken
only time you ever want to do tetsuzansen frc in a combo is if you want to make it burstproof. Dont waste that tension. you also get more damage without the frc. and if you are close enough (which you should be after 6K counterhit into kabari) you should do Tetsuzansen 2D hj jS jD. -
5K , DOT FRC , jHS , 6HS , 5HS , FB PB , 5HS , iad , jK , jK , 5HS , iad , jD , j2K , jS , 5P, 5P, jS , jP , jK , jc , jS , Footloose Journey and you have a dead Millia this character is Justice

Well NO taught Dogura how to be pro so ^^ But yeah, both of them are beasts, but Dogura should play more GG and less SF4. But on the other hand, he is trying really hard to qual for SF4 together with Efute so.. We'll see! I'm kinda wondering how the playquality of this years SBO will be, with so many people playing multiple games. And there should be alot of Dogura vs NO-matches up on GAMEacho youtube soon though. They hogged the cabinett after the ranbat to practise and record some games, and I'm quite sure that Tsujikawa slayer that lost to some foreign baiken-player in the pool also played alot of games after Dogura vs NO so.. So for all you NO fans, there should be alot coming your way soon.

We know you all love that Caer-commentary so here you go: "The second, and last, episode of the Southern Cross of the 2009 Spring-season ranbat was a awesomely fun ranbat, or so I am told. puKKa has now (finally) fixed the vids with synched commentary-audio and awesome picture-quality for all of you to enjoy a great showtime! Of course, alot of awesome Caer-commentary, alot of bullshit, and if you end up watching them you will most definitly end up having a better day. We promise you. Though Glenn & Nehle will be sad though. So don’t watch their vids. No, you have to watch Nehle vs Yonasu. Heck, watch ‘em all. Southern Cross Ranbat 3.2 Playoffs 2009-05-03 http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F401455AFFBD46E3 " Watch it for some GG-entertainment galore! want to play gg... but no time to play gg...

Well, that would probably be mixi, but if you`re not using it its probably a bit too late to use that as a forum for finding a teammate since you have to have a pretty big network to reach out to alot of people. And yeah, the Japanese BBS`s are pretty unorganized. There are some decent threads, but it doesnt really feel like the correct place to search for teammates. The best way would probably be to ask (via mail) your GG-friends if they know someone that could team with you, and if they could introduce you. Good luck!

Hey, I came up with a pretty nice combo vs Eddie last night. 413 damage for 75% tension. 5HS , DOT frc , jHS , 6HS , 5HS, iad jHS , 5HS, iad jK jK , 5HS , jS jK , 5HS , jS jK , 5HS , iad jP x3 jK , 5P , hjP x7 , jK , Footloose Can anyone beat 9 HS in one combo?

if you slashback the second hit of badlans (aint that hard if you actually blocked it) you get counterhit-DOT though... (if you fail just do 5K dot)

If people have any questions they would like me to ask japanese-players in general, or any specific japanese-player (in kansai) when I interview them, hit me up via PM or just post them here ^^ Might be your only chance!
