[CSE] Arakune Video, Critique & Discussion Thread

Oh, huh, that's simplier that I thought it was. Thanks. So why do I see them do fakeouts so often while doing 6AHold? -
[CSE] Arakune Video, Critique & Discussion Thread

So the 6D unblockable is basically; D Bug Down > Air Back Dash > D Bug Launch > J.3ACD > J.2C > D Bug Down > 6DB > Wait For Tech or Falling to the Ground > 2C(6CDBug). Does anyone have the notation for how a basic 6A reset works? -
Evolution 2011 at the Rio, Las Vegas NV - July 29-31. Get hype!
LordSpectreX replied to TGS's topic in Archive
Oh goddamn it. Why do I have to be in Vegas from the 31st? Damn it all. -
Against Tager, I cannot do a thing now. Seriously. Because Ara's jump is so slow, I am just pure atomic collider bait. Going in the air is risky even pre curse now. Fakeouts are useless for baiting moves, and Gadget Finger and Tager pressure is not longer simple. I get two options on gadget finger wakeup. I can either backdash/5A/guard and get 360d cause backdash is far too slow now. Or I can jump with my very slow jump and get atomic collidered. It's basically a 50/50 mixup with the risk being 3k damage. Not only that, If Tager has me in a blockstring, I can't do shit anymore. I can't backdash cause it's too slow, and I can't IB>5A as easily cause IB is so much slower. Keeping pressure is hard too. I cannot IAD J.B > IAD J.B repeat anymore against ANYONE cause it's too slow. Tager can just 2A me out of it for free now. If I try any other approach, he can just sledge/atomic/2C me. The only thing I feel like I can do is just turtle and zone. Once I fuck up and he gets in, it's basically over unless I get lucky. Another problem is Tsubaki. I can't deal with this matchup. Two things happen. I rushdown, and everything I do gets 2Cd. OR i zone. And she justs runs in or does her +5 on block full screen 236C to punish when I touch the ground. I can't even touch her. I basically spend the entire game trying to bait 2C and do j.D. That's it. Basically, I just dont understand how I get in with Ara now with J.B > IAD J.B being so horrible.

Really, that combo should be the norm. I've been testing that combo against the current main curse loop, and that one is almost better in every way. Not only is it easier, and gives more meter, but another interesting thing is that from a start like 6A>5CD or 6C, it does about 400 less damage, 100 if you omit the 1st 5C after 6C5C2C. But after a 2C, it does even MORE damage than the regular combo. Probably even more if you omit the first 5C, but probably not by much. So unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't see why the normal combo is better.
-
Wow, this works amazingly. Thanks. Do you mind if I steal it? Everything about it is easier. The loop, the timing, the reset. It even ends at the exact right time if you started with most of the curse bar. And because j.236CD is quick, it's easy to adapt to how much meter you have left. Though why is that double jump there? Don't you just 5C before the launch, then jump forward, j.c, DD etc etc?
-
Nah it works still. Though for me, it is so situational. Either; 1) I don't have 100% meter. 2) D Bug doesn't pop them up, especially after J.2ACD, without assistance (since if you do 6B to help it, you can't do the unblockable.) 3) The D Bug does pop them up, but Curse is still active, causing 6BBug to hit them. 4) Or, the D Bug does pop them up, curse ends just on time, but they tech in the air after the 6B. 5) Or, I do the unblockable too early in the combo and they don't get reset by the J.B. Basically, I need 100% meter. I need them to be in the amount of proration I need (not too little so they dont get reset, but not so much they tech in the air.) I need the D Bug to pop them up without help, and I need the curse to end during the time between the d bug going down and the d bug going up. It's so irritating. It's the D Bug pop up that annoys me the most though. Sometimes it happens really early in the combo and I have absolutly no clue why. As soon as I think I have a reason, I do the solution again and it doesn't work.
-
Someone mentioned a JP wiki with combos and resets? Where is that? The one I found has neither.
-
That works even better. Thanks. Thanks to you Oda. You're right. It is just about possible. Pretty hard though. I'll probably be better off doing Back Throws for reliability. Or just save the meter. Lol.
-
Problem is, that's a back throw. If I do a neutral throw into distortion, it won't move back far enough to pop them up. I'm starting to get the feeling that the full combo of a Neutral throw is impossible, but I want to confirm before I start getting into the habit of Back Throws. Excellent, that solves my problem. I was doing 6C once the D Bug lifts them, when what I should have been doing is doing 6C just when it is about to lift them. Thanks man. Already knew this, but thanks, that confirms it. I'm sure the pop up works, but the second part was more correct. I'm supposed to do the J.2A then J.2CD as early as possible so that the D Bug Down drops them on the ground as near it as possible.

Okay, I'm going to restart what I was talking about in the CS thread because I didn't explain it very well. The first problem I have is after Throw>236236C>5D. After jumping, I cannot find any way to get J.C to connect. I've tried; J.A > J.C. J.A > J.B > J.C J.A > J.A > J.C. J.C J.B > J.C None of these have worked, even once. I've tried super jumping, I've tried delaying it, doing it as quickly as possible. I've tried moving during the laser. Nothing works. Not even once. Yet alone stable. J.A > J.C DOES work if some hits of the laser miss. E.g. 6A > 5D > 236236C > Move back to pop them up > 5D > j.A > j.C. But if the laser hits them directly after a throw, it just doesn't work. The J.C just doesnt connect. The second problem is during a curse combo. This is the curse combo I use, written by Skye; (Starter) > [6cd] > c/d bug > j.236[cd] > release cd > c/d bug > 6c > 5cd > 2c > c/d bug > j.2acd > c/d bug > (Finisher) There's two problems I have with this. The first is doing this midscreen. When I do this midscreen, the C bug from the 6C hits the enemy, keeping them in place. Then when I do 5CD > 2C, it crosses them up, sending them behind me and making the D bug to miss. This probably has a simple solution but I can't find it. The second is more complicated. Now, whenever I don't start with a throw or a direct hit with the D Bug. So I start with 6CD, 6A>5C, 2C, j.C etc. The D Bug that comes FROM the J.2ACD doesn't pop them up for the finisher. This happens. J.2ACD > A, C, and D bug hit > Opponent lands on floor > opponent techs > D Bug goes up. This is a massive problem as it means I can't finish with a 6B>FOG>RC>j.4B reset or do a Laser Super. Are there any solutions to this?
-
You mean like 5D > j.B > j.C > j.D? But the problem is is that I need the D Bug to pick them up after the j.2ACD. Positioning can't be the problem because it happens in the corner too, 2C isn't an option cause I need to do a finisher after that D Bug pop. B Bug is just about possible, but that means I need the curse to be there when I summon the B Bug, but for it to disappear when I do 6B > Pit Super to force a reset so the Bug doesn't hit them. I suppose since the problem is J.2ACD, when the D Bug pops them up after the 6C5C2C gatling, should I do J.2ACD as early or as late as possible?
-
I'm having a couple of problems with CS2 Arakune. The first is doing xxx > J.A > J.C > J.D. xxx being Laser Super > D, 5C or 2C etc. I can never get J.A > J.C to connect anymore. I've tried super jumping, delaying it, doing it as quick as possible and it just doesn't work. J.C always whiffs. The exception to this is big characters like Tager. The second is proration during Curse Combos. I do the listed one, which is D Bug Up > j.236CD > D Bug Up > 6C > 5CD (5C6D in corner) > 2C > D Bug Up > j2ACD (j3ACD in corner) > D Bug Up > Finisher Finisher being a curse setup, a curse reset (6B > FOG > RC > j.4B for example), or a Super. The problem is, unless the first D Bug hits directly, or I start it off a throw, the D Bug after the j.2ACD rarely picks them up. Even if It does, it doesn't allow me to do 6B because they then tech in the air. But I need to do as much of the curse combo possible so it runs out when I'm trying to do the reset. So what am I doing wrong? If I start it with anything like, say (6A > 5CD) or (2CD) or (6CD), the D bug won't lift them up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoyKGMwZ7dA& (Ara Vs Tager) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbPvoGsVPuw& (Ara Vs Lambda) I won a Day 1 CS2 tourny on sunday where like NO-ONE has played the game except for one guy who didn't even participate. Still, I'd like to know if there were any bad habits I was still doing. I know I did j2B a couple of times in the Tager match, I was trying to do 664B but for some reason it did that instead. I also know I have to do 2A-5A (VV) more and make sure I get 100% curse from a 6B if I have meter for it. The few random pit supers in the Lambda match was mostly me experimenting with the matchup seeing if they were useful for punishing stuff. Thanks guys.

In CS2, if you do a 6D Bell Bug and stay in place, can Tager sledge through the bell bug and hit you if he's as close to the bell bug as possible?
-
I see. Thanks. What about her mixup and pressure?
-
If someone doesn't mind saying, what are Platinum's cons?
-
Ah, I didn't know that. Well, considering that, I suppose it's techincally possible that Ragna could Inferno Divider on the exact frame the combo is reset but...yeah.
-
While it seems amazing, I don't quite get it. What's to stop them from just holding back to block it once the J.B forces them to tech?
-
Tried being evasive. It worked well, even beat some West Coast player, then I faced the best Lambda in the UK. That stuff is too hard to beat. ;_;
-
Alright, I'll try being more beelike. Looking at Senkei's vid, I notice I don't Barrier Cancel Airdashes as much as I should. So I'll try and be evasive. Thanks. BTW, Senkei or anyone else, how do you do that reset during curse that put them back into the loop for not teching? The one Senkei did in the Second Set?
-
Thing is, being evasive isn't really something I get. I mean, If I'm supposed to be rushing her down constantly because zoning is stupid and just gives her 5 charge, then how am I supposed to do that when J.B gets beaten except when I do it very close to the ground? Plus, my mixup from J.B sucks because I can never get J.B > 2A > 5B > 5D to connect on Tsubaki. CS2 maybe, but ugh. But the real problem is is that I don't know what I should be doing. Even against Lambda, I know what I need to be doing. It's hard, but I know what it is. Tsubaki, I have no clue about how my rushdown should work, how much I should zone her, whether I should be passive or aggressive, whether clouds are essential or a hinderence, if I should stay high or low in the air, or keep my ground etc etc. Which is why I'm asking this in a video discussion thread. What I need is a video of how an Arakune should be playing against Tsubaki, even if he loses. But all the videos I see, either the Arakune does stupid things (like me), or the Tsubaki is terrible.
-
I get it. Yeah, I noticed after watching some Arakunes that I don't Airdash in the air as much as I should. When I jump, it's usually to either J.D/Summon a cloud, do IAD J.b, fake-out, or get out of pressure. Btw, against rushdown characters like Tsubaki, should I be summoning clouds or using J.D high in the air? Cause I noticed that while doing those low is useful in zoning matches (Hazama/Lambda), it seems to give them more time to punish me as I can't cancel them into an air and I have to land (and recover land) before I can block.
-
So jump around summoning clouds? While dodging his attacks? Sorry, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what you're advising me with. Are there any videos of Arakune's beating good Tsubakis? All the ones I saw were when the Tsubaki was awful or when the Arakune gets beaten. Usually quite badly. Not to mention a lot of them are old. I'd appriciate it. Thanks.

I'll get started with that tonight then and then get it done by the end of the week. Though I may just wait for the holidays and do it then. But I'll be done ASAP.
