Everyone plays differently Star. Why are you going to assume a player's playstyle before you even play him or her? The reason why top players consistently place high is because they treat each player they face individually. I remember in an interview Daigo talked about this very thing. You shouldn't generalize people especially in something where everyone is given lots of options. It's a scrub mentality to think "this is what makes a top player" because there are a variety of playstyles that are effective that might not fit your criteria. I'll just leave this at that.

[CS1-CSE] Road to Ikaruga - The Bang Social thread - Do you even 3c?
Seiki replied to DaiAndOh's topic in Bang Shishigami
what's the combo exactly? -
Papstr is right in that if you are falling for what you think is "stupid shit" then you are either a) stupid (since its working) or b)if you are not stupid, then it isn't stupid shit because why would someone stupid fall for "stupid" shit. Also, I guarantee you Zeno doesn't play even a fourth of the amount you do and I know he primarily plays smash yet you were struggling against him when I was watching you two play. Honestly if he played the game more he would have an even chance against you. Now that's not to say you aren't skilled but it doesn't mean he isn't either, and to be frank he was playing haku the most logical way against you. You like throwing out a lot of attacks with Noel cause it's safe, Zeno isn't really risking a lot by throwing out drives because he has a high chance of countering you since there is a high chance you are throwing out an attack. Although he lost he definitely had the right idea and you can see he missed a lot of drive counters due to just mistiming but he threw it out there on reaction to your attacks. (Also abusing his invincible moves and long range attacks applies here as well.) His errors are merely a lack in just playing the game but his strategy was spot on.

Yeah Bang really needed the 5b buff. His poking game and frametraps are lackluster in CSII because 5b is pretty slow. Plus the 5d being back to launching the opponent gives him the much needed midscreen damage he needed. I'm really looking forward to extend but I'm hoping they add more characters than just Relius if they are making it a stand alone disc. I really don't feel like a single character and balance changes is worth 40 dollars. For people who didnt buy valk plat and mak it might be but...for those who did I feel it isn't worth it since CSII patch was free and relius is probably worth 5 bucks like the rest of the dlc characters. Added story content for the dlc characters is not worth the additional 35 dollars so it feels like a rip off to me. but eh I like arcsys games...I just hate their marketing.

Lol people thought "Naimat" was my handle for a while.

a) I dont say it all the time, this is the first time I have b) Don't expect people to listen to you if you are giving them empty advice, and if you don't care if people listen to what you have to say then why post it in the first place? and c) quit editing your posts so fcking much. I read it one time and then the next it's completely changed. I can't keep track of an argument if you are constantly changing your view. Write it down on paper or whatever before you post or better yet, think before you type.
-
@Star: I hate when people basically tell you "yeah you can be doing more stuff in that situation and I'm just going to give you general broad advice that doesn't benefit you at all because there isn't much context in it to begin with" No shit Valk has mix-ups and every character has an answer for almost any situation but if you are going to give advice be specific otherwise it's no help at all so no one is going to actually listen. Just saying hey hit the lab doesn't really help and most people ignore general advice like that because it's understood. It's like telling someone "you need to eat if you are hungry". No shit I know that already tell me something that's actually helpful.
-
I just have to focus on observing the opponent's pattern more. And people who mash on block will beat out my high/low mixups since they aren't true blockstrings, but that's what frame traps are for and I just need to incorporate it more into my game. Like I said before, I have all the knowledge, the tools, and execution to do really well. I just need to polish it. RIght now I'm just a rough diamond that needs to be cut.

I don't want to play to win so I'm not going to switch characters just because I'm losing. And there is no denying I like playing Bang more than I do Jin. I just need to play BB more and drop learning other games like SFIV which I don't enjoy as much as I thought. Let alone my research is occupying a lot more time and so is work so i dont have the luxury of getting good at multiple games. I know Bang is a viable character and I know I am skilled enough to win a tournament I just don't practice enough so my skill isn't polished come tournament time. I think come January I'll have enough time to get myself into good shape...maybe even back to how good I was in CT. idk. If you guys thought I was good now...it's nowhere near how good I was in CT, but that was because that's all I played everyday.
-
If I'm going to win one of these tournaments I need to focus on BB and limit the number of fighting games I play.

Everybody go the fuck to sleep. Seriously. Ya'll can talk bout it tomm. like gentlemen but on the realz Star the tourny is just an incentive to make everyone get better and the money is just to reward the person who deserves the work they put in to the game. It doesn't prove anything else, so idk why you don't just enter for the hell of it. Idk if there is some pride involved or w/e reason there is no excuse to not enter...unless you don't has moneyz but being out of practice is no excuse. The majority of us still enter and we are out of shape. Even if you can't play at your best because of controller issues you can still test skills outside of execution. Your yomi and pressure can still be used to win matches and to be honest the fact that you are limited in not being able to do those high execution combos puts a bigger emphasis in using mindgames to compensate for lost damage which in turn can make you a better player. There is always a positive side to everything. Even the holocaust. You need to think of a problem as an opportunity to learn from. Now go the fuck to sleep.
-
If Star doesnt mind I would like to commentate on some matches. Preferably some with skilled players so I can apply my knowledge.

probably the best simple editing I've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afU-67D6geo&feature=related

star doesn't need a costume. He already looks like that to me. Especially when he plays CS2 broken Noel.
-
billy why dont you just play the damn game and decide for yourself. Seriously. I don't mean a few matches. I mean treat it like a game you want to learn. And once you get the hang of it see if you like it then form an opinion. So many people play a game for an hour or two and think they know everything there is to know about it. You have to spend time with a game, especially a fighting game, before forming a decent opinion. Before I get into any fighting game I look at high level play because that is where the game is best represented because all of the important qualities and aspects of it is shown at that level. So, If you are too fucking lazy to play a videogame watch some japs do it.

telling you man slowly but surely Tager is going to become potemkin. He's going to go from grappler to poking god.
-
It's not like it means much. The gaps in the tier list are smaller than in CS2. Really any advantages are just match-up specific. Tao v. Bang is still 6-4, Tager v. Lambda is still bad, etc. etc.

Storm is african...not very american but yeah. I kinda chuckle when skrull beats storm and he says as one of his victory phrases "hahaha inferior race". Ofcourse he means human race...but I let my mind wander~

Chandler...you are a god. @Milln: exactly.

I think that because Nova has some of what several characters have it makes him original. Because combining all of these different tools makes him a different character. The sum of the parts is not equivalent to the individual parts: a key part of logic. Just because he has tools from several diff. characters doesn't mean he is going to play like them or even use those tools like them because the summation of all of those moves creates a new design. Not to mention the properties are different for the moves he copies. His stone smite ground bounces and doesn't have as much range as skrull's (not to mention is more applicable), his dive kick can only be initiated after doing a stance and it can only be done from the ground, and I mean he has his own unique set of tools. The vertical shot isn't like taskmaster's at all. It covers a lot less ground, is faster, and causes a ground bounce. That alone makes its use different. I can't say much for his supers except the red life factor is pretty cool. Overall he isn't as unique as some of the characters of the cast, but I wouldn't say he is unoriginal. Capcom could have picked any number of moves from the rest of the cast to put into Nova, but it should be considered why they picked the moves they did. It can't be out of sheer laziness since those moves do accurately represent Nova in the comics. Also, it is fair to mention he does have some unique moves like aegis reflector (although I think PW has one too...), and different follow ups from his centurion arts that gives him different ways to combo than most characters. One last thing, his maximum nova shall be called "Big Taco"...cuz dats wut he says. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qHIpusRAgQ&feature=player_embedded#t=1m0s

I love the double ground pound intro with iron man and nova. PW and nova look sick and im glad PW is just as quirky as I thought he should be. definitely gonna make a team with iron man and nova. Lol nova has maximum nova. Maximum wesker is the shoryuken of marvel: everyone's got one. I like the extend intro's instrumentals. I hate the lyrics to death.
-
basically it's the same as cs2. no more combo videos midscreen. Big damage is only in the corner. More balanced roster. In extend though, barrier pushes people further away if you perfect barrier. I don't know if regular barrier has changed. The great thing so far is that it seems everyone is viable. There is no CS1 rachel tier equivalent and the game is focused less on big combos and more on mixups.

actually dec.2 weekend is good. Exams dont start till like two weeks into dec.
-
uhm idk i think dec.2 falls near finals...

The tier list doesn't change dramatically from one patch to the next the gaps do. The main gameplay elements for each character is preserved so diversity has been there regardless of the changes. And actually every element the community complains in terms of character balancing netherrealm has responded to and fixed. kung lao low hat, vicinity blast infinite, kabal block infinite, johnny cage's nut punch, etc etc idk what jason is talking about but if it's any company that listens to players' feedback it's netherrealm.
