BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)
Airk replied to Jotamide's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Huh! Intriguing! I'll be keeping my eye on this. -
Wait what? I thought charges were easier to get this time around due to increased charge speed?

Yeah; Right now she looks better, but less interesting. Which is a real shame. =/ Have we seen anyone do anything with Install Super yet? That's where a lot of big damage punishes have historically come from. Though I guess looking at those proration/damage numbers, we're looking at substantially less damage on something like 5C (CH) > 6C > Install > 421D > 236D > 214D > 22D > Stuff because 5C and 6C are basically exactly the same (tiny bit more damage on 5C) and 421D > 236D prorates more and does less damage, and 214D and 22D both do less damage (though prorate better, so maybe things will work out a little better there, though probably not enough to make up for 421D > 236D going from 99P2 to essentially 92P2.) So I expect, depending on how D moves are modified in Install this time (IF they are) that we've probably lost some damage on this sort of 'big punish' situation too. Could be worse, but just doesn't look very exciting. Edit: And oh, yeah, Frost Monarch - Command Grab does a whopping 1200 now instead of 960. :P Which actually seems to be a pretty surprising psychological buff.
-
Not sure why you'd think that; Very little seems to have changed about her neutral game other than 236D being safer, and her DP got lightly nerfed in that the reward you get from a DP with 2 charges went from like 2700 to like 1500. Oh, and the command grab does better damage now. If anything, I feel like that adds up to a more OFFENSIVE character.

Because Terumi doesn't care about winning, he just cares about making you feel like crap.
-
I'm sure it's partly that they don't want people to complain about it, but I'm also pretty sure that it's MOSTLY the fact that it's a feature that's going to be used by like 1% of their userbase and which probably takes a relatively nontrivial amount of time and effort to implement.

This implies that there is such a thing as a "final game". You can ALWAYS make up more nonsense "story" or flashback or WhoCaresIt'sAFightingGameSoTheyFight. If the game keeps making money, they would be well advised to keep making the game, and I don't think Arc Sys is going to turn up their nose at more money.

Gee, I wonder why it's so laggy! This game must have crap netcode!
-
Technically, that's because whoever said that was basically making stuff up. Mori said "I'd like to release BB on PS4, but it needs to be special, with extra bells and whistles and crap or it will be a disappointment" And whoever posted that it was going to be on the PS4 has decided that CP2 is special enough. Which I think is absurd, but hey.
-
I'm actually almost HOPING for a full release of CP2 at this point if only so they can swipe some of the upgrades to Lobbies that they've been advertising for Xrd - the ability to meet someone in a lobby and then basically spin off a private 'challenge room' so no one interrupts your set is pretty awesome.

Nice work there Mcgreag, but I think if you changed the spacing, 2A would actually win - the hitbox around her arm would extend upwards enough to hit the hurtbox on the wing, but there's no corresponding hurtbox on 2A to get hit by 5B. That said, it would be a miracle of spacing and timing for this to work.

I DID give advice for what to do if you don't have it too. Is it a great situation to be in? No, but you've got some tools to use and you need to out play them. It's not super huge in their favor because swallow moon is nowhere near as good as say, Hazama chains for playing the "screw you, come get me" game and the threat they can present from up there is usually pretty low, so you can pretty much just walk forward and see what they do. Also, note that "sit on the life lead" is not the same thing as "sit around and let Platinum cycle all the items she wants." But if does mean that you don't have to go flying after her and let her hit you. Also, honestly? Maybe I'm unfamiliar with the matchup, but it seems like frying pan really isn't that scary because the places she can set it up in are all DP/Backdash bait since she needs to be pretty much on top of you to use it. Honestly, I don't understand why anyone is still starting matches with 22B; It loses to way too much stuff, and a 3k or whatever combo on the rare chance that it hits isn't worth the risk. Anyway, while I'm no expert, I like to start matches vs Platinum with IAD forward or superjump forward. Because all the options she's LIKELY to do either give you the advantage (like if she tries to jump back or backdash to get an item) or at least don't leave you at a disadvantage. The only stuff she has that blows this up is stuff she's unlikely to do at round start. (The only thing I can think of that wins here is raw heart car, and even that doesn't really result in that much damage.) Most Platinum players like to fall back and try to get an item, so this lets you get pressure going. If they press 5B or 3C at round start, odds are everyone misses and you're pretty much back at neutral.

Get a life lead and sit on it. If you're behind, you'll need to look for patterns in their movement and DP/2C/air throw them out of it.
-
It used to be, I think, that the mook would contain this info and spare us the annoyance, but these days people have to test to figure this stuff out, and then they may or may not put it on the wiki.
-
That is hilarious and terrible.

Still doesn't really make sense to me, but I'll take your word for it.

Yeah, it's a little bit silly, at this point, to speculate too much on "will you or won't you use combo X?" because the answer is generally going to be "Well, I'm going to put in what I feel is an appropriate amount of time in the training room, and if the combo ends up stable enough, I'll use it." and that's a squishy, organic answer that's going to be different for everyone. I still drop super lame combos in CP (seriously, last night I dropped a Stuff > 214B > jc > j.C that would've killed.), mostly as a result of just not having played it enough, and I have a tough time confirming into some others. but as time goes on, I improve and I use more combos. I don't think there's a magic line for "This combo is just too hard for anyone to use." though maybe there is with netplay (Screw you, CP netplay, Extend was better. Or maybe Xbox Live was better, but yuk.) depending on your connection. tldr; "It depends"

My biggest gripe with this conversation is that it took Errol THREE POSTS to explain any why's and wherefores. It went like this: Chzchan: This is exciting! Combos! Errol: They're hard. Chzchan: Well, there's gotta be something... Errol: Fuck you, I'm not explaining. (No, seriously, that's pretty much what the second post comes down to.) Chzchan: .... Errol: Okay, fine, you have pushed me to the wall, now I must actually explain. I don't think there's anything wrong with either type of discussion (YMMV), but how that discussion was executed really upset me, and I think if something needs to be moderated, it's BEHAVIOR, not content. I don't know where all this sudden anger is coming from. =/ For the longest time this was the most civil place on Dustloop.
-
I'm gonna be honest here - I don't think there was really that much actual COMPLAINING happening in the Gameplay thread; There was lots of pointing out why Tsubaki isn't good, but that's NOT the same thing. There seemed to be a lot of ignorance there, and that has since been corrected. Maybe it strayed into 'complaining' at the end, but it did not make up most of the conversation. Just my two cents, however.
-
Can we not play the "no, YOU were being inflammatory!!" game? Please? -_-
-
Guys; I understand that this combo piece is going to be hard possibly to the point of being unusable, but I really feel like you're being unnecessarily mean about it; Not everyone has good information about the requirements of this, since not everyone reads Japanese, so would it kill us to share this information without all the sneering? =/ And no, so saying "It doesn't work" and THEN mocking someone for doubting you when no one has explained why doesn't count.
-
I never get excited about combos for my personal use, because I SUCK at combos and by the time I get to the point where I can almost do a couple of advanced ones, they release a new version of the game. :P
-
So apparently the music for Tsubaki's theme music power up is mariachi? Who knew? :P Some of that stuff was sick. Still trying to parse it.

Wow. That's...really dumb. "This super is only for Comboz nao, okay guys?" Love you, Arc Sys.
