  1. Would that be Tao "Everyone says I'm really good but haven't actually won anything in years" Kaka? Anyway, Tao had some really well ranked players in previous versions. And I don't think it makes much sense that characters who had strong players with high ranks in previous versions of the game (such as, oh, Valk) are somehow suddenly "underrepresented" unless people think that they're not worth sticking with. :P I also have a hard time believing that there are "ghost players" who would be in the top 20 nationwide but can't be bothered to register a name on their card.

  3. GGs to Nemesis. But I don't think Lessons lags. OTOH, having a zero bar player in the room... :P Ugh. I don't know what it is about playing Jin... I just feel... constricted whenever I play him. I need to figure out how the hell to get out of his stuff. Like, when I'd rather fight Hazama than Jin, something is weird.
  4. I concur; I don't think giving a character a "mode change" that doesn't even REALLY fundamentally change how they work (VALK's mode change fundamentally changes how he works. CP Nu's mode change...altered the properties of some of her moves.) really doesn't count, to me, as fundamentally changing the character.
  5. I flailed around a bit and didn't see a better place to ask; How's the netcode in this game? Am I gonna have all the delay, all the time even when playing nearby people, or is better than that?

  8. I suspect that might be spacing specific, but I'll check. That said, you might be able to do 2BB. 4D actually has a really long startup before it can hit you. Will have to test.
  9. Yeah, basically when you get 50 meter, you start going into 3C from time to time. Though you can also charge cancel -> 2A sometimes, depending. You'll be vulnerable to just totally mashing 5A on their part, but any attempts to react you'll probably beat, and if they do 4D you'll either hit them or recover in time to block. Of course, 5B(B)>2B will usually beat this too.

  11. I dunno. I think most people whose character takes a nosedive just move to someone else. Respect for those that don't, but they're a minority, I think. Of course, maybe that's proof you're right. :P

I'm not really seeing the magic; Also, this is what everyone says every time a new version comes out, and then people play for a while and the official diagnosis ends up being "C-tier again." so you'll forgive my skepticism. They always seem to do some strange two steps forward, two steps back dance with her by nerfing stuff that doesn't need to be nerfed. I mostly agree with Kiba - if it wasn't clear, "Awful" is worse than "Weak" which is just "Not really as good as most of the rest of the cast" as opposed to "Outright bad." As for why she's weak, at this point, I have no idea. Building a character whose schtick is "Build up a special gauge, then get in and apply pressure" but whose special gauge neither helps her get in nor helps her apply pressure, and who has otherwise below average pressure tools just doesn't seem to add up. I'm pretty sure they just don't know what to do, which is why every incarnation changes around a bunch of stuff (Extend Tsubaki was supposed to be all about the install super!) Anyway, that's that. </Tsubaki>

  14. Haha, this is so easy for Tsubaki: CT=S Tier! CS1=Awful, but with some interesting ideas. CS2=Surprisingly decent, but minus most of the interesting ideas. CSE=Weak CP=Weak CP2=Weak Each time she's been weak she's been weak because of the same basic reasons while they shuffle around trading a bunch of random crap that doesn't really help her win for a different bunch of random crap that doesn't really help her win. It should be no surprise that the last time she was decent was also the last time she had decent normals. They keep switching around how easy it is to get charge and just how useless her charge moves are, rather than stepping back and evaluating how they actually want the character to like, work.
  15. The problem with this is that while it's "correct" it's also meaningless. "X has been good because the developers made them good!" is a pretty useless statement. The fact that a small number of characters have consistently gotten good tools is irrelevant. There's nothing "special" about those characters, unless you actually think that the dev team favors them for some reason - and that's not something we can KNOW. The whole point is that frame data can change. The only things about a character that CAN'T is basically how their moves look. And we all know that that has only a pretty darn limited relationship with what their hitboxes look like. This is actually why I get so cranky about balance issues in this game. Character X has been bad for 4 games? How about you, I dunno, make their normals less garbage? A few frames here and there makes a huge difference.
  16. Ugh. Do we have to go over this AGAIN? How good a character's normals are has almost nothing to do with their "design"; It's all FRAME DATA. Similarly, "damage output" is only nominally part of design. Do you think they "designed" Terumi to have bad damage output? There's nothing wrong with his design. They just made the tools he has too weak. Do you think he is incapable of being good? What if every move he had was +5 on block and did 2k damage. Oh, suddenly he's good, you say? But his "design" hasn't changed at all. Any character in this game CAN be good. It's just a question of whether Arc makes their tools good or, crappy. A character can have a great design and bad tools, because tools are implementation, not design. And no, the S-Tier Tager talk was NOT only about Nu.

  19. I actually did have fun, except at the very end. Though I had a couple of 'Argh, why did I give that away?" moments too. Well, motivation to practice.
  20. GGs to ArgentZero; Sorry I kinda gave up at the end, but I really don't like fighting Arakune, and when winning just means I have to fight him MORE it's like "Why bother?" ;P
  21. okay. F-ing seriously. My decision on whether I buy Extend or not depends on whether they put GODDAMN "train while waiting for opponents" back into player match or not.
