That's nice. She didn't make it to ARCADE players until several months after that. No one has sunk years of their life into that character.
-
Oh come on. Which formerly powerful characters are now "sub par"? By all reports, all the same usual suspects are still tops. Except MAYBE Kokonoe? Who no one sank tons of time into anyway, because she wasn't even out for that long.

The Brain Box (Boston, Massachusetts and parts of New England) Thread
Airk replied to Troll Badguy's topic in East Coast
Maaaan. I already have like 4 things lined up for Saturday. I am literally booked solid from 11am until 10pm. -
BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)
Airk replied to Jotamide's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
I wouldn't BANK on it being for sale for much more than 20 or 25% off in the winter sale; Usually games that JUST came out don't put up big numbers there. oh, and /buy. -
5A anti-airs in general are rage inducing. Pretty much every other anti-air in the game is designed so that you have to commit to it in some way - holding down or forward - but no, characters with 5A anti-airs don't even really need to time them, especially when they hit in an absurd arc in front of them. Die. Azrael, die. Another example of a character who has tools that way exceed what he needs to do his job, and then people wonder why he's top tier...

Is this when I put in my stock comment about "This should be in beginner mode, also, if you are looking for sparring partners/tutors/rivals/whatever, for the love of Bob, post something about your geographic location so you can find someone with a decent connection to you East Bumblepud, Arkansas or wherever the heck you are"?

GGs to everyone I played tonight, on the off chance that any of you are here.

[10/28/2016] AniClash 47 - BBCF Online Tournament
Airk replied to Viserys's topic in BlazBlue Online Play
GG's to people in this. Kinda frustrated that one of my matches was functionally unplayable from my perspective though. Must be nice to not have to react to things. -
BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)
Airk replied to Jotamide's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Yes, that was my point. Of course, I just got a notice today that MS has somehow managed to renew my XBL Gold even though the only credit card they have on file for me is expired? Weird stuff. -

I'm in. :P -
This assumes they don't sell CP2 as a standalone product. And since this is currently up for debate, it makes me uneasy.
-
Yeah; I admit, even as someone who advocates for this game, it's really hard to tell someone "Yeah, buy it, don't worry about the fact that in a couple of months, you may have to buy it again." =/

New BBCP,P4U,GG player looking sparring partners.
Airk replied to Shiroyasha1's topic in Beginner Mode
These threads are probably best placed in Beginner Mode; Also, when hunting for sparring partners, its usually useful to at LEAST list your time zone, but ideally you should give a general idea of where you are (state, whatever) so that you can find people who have a decent connection to you. People should feel free to send me friend invites if they want games with someone in Massachusetts. I also have a moderate amount of experience coaching people and evaluating play, so I can probably give some advice. -
I'm going to keep playing CP for the foreseeable future. Unless I decide to bail for CSE on Steam. ;P I have game loyalty, damnit.

BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)

I'd play CSE with people on XBL, except I'm letting my Gold expire because I don't play anything online on that system anymore. -_- -
BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)
Airk replied to Jotamide's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Yeah, I'm totally going to pick this up when it comes out. -
Ooookay? So maybe they shoulda just left the game at CS? That was pretty popular too. There was absolutely room for improvement on CP. The fact that they screwed the pooch again doesn't mean they shouldn't be touching these games. It just means that, like I keep saying (but apparently not loud enough for anyone from Arc Sys to hear me) - that they need to stop doing this stupid "throw it all in a blender and radically change how the game works." nonsense, regardless of what whiny "I'm bored, it's been six whole months!" fans seem to think. They need to work at this stuff with a light touch and mostly just address the characters who are too weak. (And characters like Nu2 or Kokonoe 1.X that clearly stand above where they ought.). There's really no reason to touch mid tier characters at all most of the time. And yet...

Sounds good, but I'm away until next week. Will try to come back rested. z.z
-
Man. I kinda want to play you, but I'm tired and you would wreck me. z.z

Ugh. Christ. Anime game players. "This game has been out for like 12 months! And they've only changed it a LITTLE! It's old and boring now! I'm gonna go play some super unbalanced screwy games that no one will be playing in 3 months." Seriously? These games aren't that shallow.

That's because I am basically forbidden from bitching about my character in this thread, but screw that. As a Tsubaki main, I am negative hype for 2.0 because her damage went up a bit and they basically removed any purpose for her drive at all. (Yay! I can use a stock to get 250 extra damage!) I exagerate slightly, but I would rather play a Tsubaki who is slightly less good, but at least doesn't basically do the exact some combo every time. (Something -> DP -> 236A whiff -> etc.) If you're going to make a character with a drive that fills up little magic bars, you would expect those bars to be good for something, and yet, somehow, they're even LESS good this time out. So I have a character that has moved from "pretty bad tier" to "sortof okay tier" at the cost of going from "Reasonably interesting tier" to "More boring than Ragna" tier. So no, stop pretending that "if your character was bad in 1.1, you are hype for 2.0" (And honestly, considering, I don't see too many characters who were tops in 1.1 who aren't still tops in 2.0, so I don't think there's a lot of ground for stating the reverse either.) Did SOME characters get changes that will result in their player bases being excited for 2.0? Probably. Do those character correlate with the 1.1 tier list particularly? No, not really. Also, sorry Ached, but the removal of Nu's 4B was instantly overcompensated for by the dramatically reduced startup on 4D. Any other changes would OBVIOUSLY have propelled her upwards, but they went ahead with them anyway.

2.1 in time for console release! You heard it here first. :P

Having "good internet" helps a lot. Having "good internet speed"... not so much. At least, not in the way people tend to think about "speed". Most people think about "internet speed" in terms of your upload/download MBPS. Which is pretty irrelevant for these games - the amount of actual data sent over the pipe is pretty small. What matters is how fast that data gets to where it's going. You can get fast downloads over satellite internet, but your lag is going to be awful. Do some googling of "Bandwidth vs Latency" for more information. The two factors are usually correlated, but not necessarily.

"Good enough" for what? :P She's always good enough to die in a fire. :P

BBCSE coming to PC next month (one step closer to CP?)
Airk replied to Jotamide's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Well, truthfully, there isn't any meaningful system requirements style differences between CT and...heck, even CP. They're still rendering the same amount of stuff on screen, the same sprites, etc. There's no reason the sysreqs would change. That said, more info would be nice. :P
