we just messaged cranky about the sign, and it seems we can disregard it since at christmas and new year's eve this sign was there and people we're in the building anyway

lol it's cool. there are only like 4 sticks at the HQ atm, so as long as at least some people bring theirs we should be fine. There was a sign on the building when we got here that said it will be closed tomorrow. I'll get in touch with cranky and we'll see what this is about, but we might have to change venues for tomorrow, it might be at Foonzo instead, but we'll need to talk to them first as well. keep checking this thread for updates, when we'll know for sure we'll post on twitter as well. @Kaeru : I don't know, depends on the above. but probably 3PM

Alright, we're awake, things should proceed according to plan (even though I'm always late). Don't worry, Cranky, I think we got this (for the sound and stuff). For a list of who's bringing what, today and tomorrow will be a good test, since Brice's console won't be operational. Anyways, planning on getting 6 setups, but I think we have a lot of options here. At least one PS2 (brice/twiggy/rhannmah/nolan), a 360 (Eb's I guess), minimum 4 PS3s : an assortment of me/brice/kirbster/air/rhannmah/kaeru. I'm also going to bring 3 CRTs and 1 lagless monitor and, unless anyone is up for bringing theirs, 2 CRTs from the HQ.

Eh after Eb left we finished Strike Witches season 1, shit was lulz. We'll try to open the HQ tomorrow around 2 PM. I'll have akatsuki blitzkampf on my laptop, you guys gotta try this game out. Rhannmah, you coming tomorrow/need a ride? Aiming to leave around 1:15 PM.

Yeah well, dunno if you'll be there Thursday, but we'll have our regular meetup at the HQ from like 2 PM till past midnight, if you feel like hanging out with us. The tournament is Friday, we'll probably get started around 7:30 PM-ish, but we'll probably open the HQ around 2 PM or so, and we might go to this place : http://foonzo.com/ on Saturday, but we'll discuss it Thursday and Friday. That's pretty much the plan. We'll post the exact opening hours when we'll know for sure (like, the time at which we go to sleep the night before). Woah 7 hours in training mode, I'm kinda scared now :P Since AH3 came out on PSN today, I went ahead and made a thread on homing cancel (the dustloop equivalent) in the regional section, hopefully we'll get some more people playing that game at the HQ. @Nolan : keep practicing, maybe our GG scene is actually going somewhere I've been spending some time doing arcade runs on my end.

MvC3, guess we could do something Thursday or Friday if people are hype for it, I remember having mentioned it a little while ago, can't really dodge. I suggest Thursday, because Friday, MTLSF guys are going to take your money . MTL vs LK, depends on how things go. So far, just the FT5s are for sure, rest is tentative I guess. I'm still up for it, but yeah, we'll see.

Oh btw, nini, and well this concerns every one else too, I think the info about what's going next weekend with LK got a bit mixed up, heck even I'm not sure and I'm kinda organizing stuff (with Eb). So whatever, let's discuss it. I think the best plan is to stay flexible and go with the flow, but here's what I had in mind... Thursday, meetup, same as every Thursday. Friday, open up in the afternoon for casuals and fun, (10$ most likely) BB tourney starts around 7:30 PM. Then if we're it's not too late, FT5s with LK. After that, depending on what time it is and how we're all feeling, maybe go to a bar, someone's place, I dunno, probably drink, anyways, it's a "go with the flow" moment. Saturday, depending on how things went Friday, plan was that people who want to, meetup at Foonzo, and then we're pretty much downtown so anything else we want to do after is right next to us. Rules for the tournament are probably going to be the same as our usual monthly mashfests, 70/20/10, double elim, singles, best out of 3, winners/losers/grand finals are best out of 5. Unlimited characters are banned, training stage is soft banned, you know the deal. As usual for our meetups, we'll have GG/AH3 if people want to play them, MTLSF will probably have some regulars there playing marvel or SSF4, and of course, there's always the cabs with MvC1&2, but I don't think we should have a tournament of any other game, don't think we'll have enough time.

If you're hyped for playing a lot of GG... there's already 1 at the HQ, and not that many people play at the same time. Mais si tu le FEEL....

About the Makoto matchup, I play Nini Heart regularly so here are a few things I keep in mind. Never use 5C or 6C at neutral. The risk/reward is way too fucked with Makoto's 3C. You can't even rapid to keep it safe. Also obvious, but jumping in is a bad idea period. Air to air is bad, makoto's j.B is really deceptive and godlike. I think it moves her hitbox or something, because it really often screwed up my air-grabs, and it comes out pretty fast so if you're not max range it will usually beat your j.C. On counter hit, expect either 4K-ish and corner oki or 6K+ if it's for the kill. 2A whiffs on her 3C, just in case you were wondering. The attack on Mak's 3C comes out slower than it appears, so going for the foot invulnerable 6B is tricky, don't do it unless you know the timing, and even there... just grab her out if you know the timing (like don't react too slowly or you get CH). Uh don't be too liberal with your DP on this one, if she parries that shit with 50 Meter, GG. Commet cannon is really dangerous if you're putting steins out and you're not exactly fullscreen. It doesn't go fullscreen, but sometimes it's deceptive, try it out in training mode to see the safe range if you don't know it. On counter hit, pretty much GG. Nini likes to use his 214B/C with barrier to get in, you can air grab this, but if you get predictable and the Makoto goes for lightning arrows instead, GG. Be REALLY careful with your bursts. The obvious one is don't burst a drive if he has 50 meter, but at all times, try to time your bursts really well with an attack, but you probably already do this. REALLY IMPORTANT : commet canon breaks 2 primers point blank. 1 for the drive and 1 for the projectile. Watch your primers. Orb oki in the corner, best thing to do is block, DP is too slow and too far to hit. Super can work depending on how he times the orb. Makoto's j.2C, don't anti-air it, it will just clash. Don't push buttons if you block, way too much + frames on block, even IB isn't enough sometimes. Don't fight this in any possible way, just dash away to safety. Last thing, dunno if omni does this, but whenever Nini drops a combo in the corner, 90% of the time, he grabs for the "reset" so just keep an eye out for this. The best way to play this matchup IMO is kinda like Tager, put up steins max range, dash under jump in attempts and be unpredictable. Command laser is really good but be careful with BBS.

Lol I was teasing you, that's why I said it the way I said it. What I really meant to disapprove of was this : With uni finishing at the latest in early May, I think we could fit a monthly poverty between the two events you mentioned. Maybe a CS2 release tournament, a CS1 farewell tournament, a get NAH out of their homes to play GGXXAC before MAT8 tournament, a "let's see how many people actually play this game" AH3 tournament, etc. I dunno how busy you people will be with summer jobs, I just got mine and I'm pretty sure it's a 9-5 weekday-ish schedule, so I think people might show up more, and be willing to participate in events more. My 2c.

Hard(er) mode : play Rachel or Platinum in previously mentioned nerd-fest... oh wait. There's a restaurant called El Zaziumm that's not too far from the HQ. They have a 20$ sandwich called "Le Monstre", and they give you a T-Shirt if you eat the whole thing and all the fries.
