  1. Ask them about our two upcoming events in Montreal too (LK-Easter and MAT8). [/shameless bump]
  2. Huh, well it's a major in New Jersey in June. Didn't some people from Toronto go to NEC? I dunno, people from the SF crew in Montreal are hype for that, so I figured it was an event that people that are road-trip distance from it and that like travelling to events might be attending.
  3. Well, quoting what the SF guys have in mind... So I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of people who know their clubbing. I can't say I hate clubbing since I never tried it, but I just don't think it's something I'd enjoy. Really depends on what people want to do on Saturday night, though. Still have a lot of time before the event to plan it so everyone can have a good time. please read this : Yeah so this is for after MAT8. I was thinking about going East Coast Throwdown. It would be a road trip similar to Toronto, about the same distance, so similar costs I guess. Depends on hotel fees, gas prices, food etc. but should be somewhere between 100 and 200 dollars, maybe slightly more, I think. The only thing is it's on the other side of the border, so you need a passport. You need a "certificat de naissance" or something similar, so if you don't know where yours is, those are additional delays to take into consideration. Don't wait until the last minute and go "oh shit it won't get here in time". Those who are interested in coming, if you don't have one, start working on it, so you're sure to have it. I think last time I asked about this was in the old thread so please remind me your answers, my memory isn't the best. @Unsanctifier : do you know if you or others from Toronto are going to ECT? @Nolan : ouch. I hope the same doesn't happen on my end. Huge team project for Friday.
  4. Fun meetup today. Cranky was there when we arrived, so we talked to him about various stuff. Me, Brice and Rhannmah are up to date on cleaning info, so we should be able to take care of this at the following meetups. As for MAT8, Guilty Gear is in, we will have the HQ's computer&equipment for recording/streaming, and we'll probably share it with Tekken. He's willing to lend us the CRTs from the HQ if we need them (because they most likely won't need them, but they might), so if anyone is willing to bring a monitor/TV to the event, let us know, it has to be as lagless as possible though. Thanks Rhannmah for the broken PS2 controller and the GG matches. Shoutouts to BB still being fun (GGs kaeru, lol brice) Shoutouts to 3S being surprisingly fun Shoutouts to Marvel for being funny So apparently there's religion talk going around, guess I'll say my thoughts on that... I'm a baptized atheist. I think religion is good for some people and bad for others, depends what you use/need it for. So if you're religious, good for you, if you're not, good for you. If there's a god who doesn't accept good people because they didn't believe in him, then he's probably not really the god I want to spend the rest of eternity with anyways. I have never been to a club, I have better things to do because I'm way too shy/sadlife to enjoy it anyways. I am also curious however, so, at MAT8, if everyone is hype for that... Aquapazza looks like a fun game, kinda slow so probably easy to enjoy, but I don't know if we'll ever get even slightly competitive at it. If it's an arcade exclusive release, it'll probably take at least a year and a half to get a console version, by then the scene might be dead. Looking forward to what it will look like at SBO, it might surprise everyone and become more popular than every other fighting game that ever existed combined (including brawl and FF dissidia).
  7. It's okay lol. No stress, it just means we'll have enough time to warm up properly before you arrive Oh and we'll probably open closer to 1:20 or 1:30 then. imma take my time with this breakfast.
  8. @Rhannmah : tu viens auj? Jvais partir autour de midi pour chercher brice, si tu veux jte lift aussi comme l'autre fois. @Cranky : yep, what the others said also applies for me.
  9. Oooh I have options. Well I'll see who makes the best offer... after all, all I want is the cable itself and I'm not really in a hurry reminder : we're thinking of opening the HQ around 1 PM tomorrow.
  10. And so the quest for an old PS2 controller begins, can anyone help me with this? I'm willing to buy it used from someone.
  11. oh shit I assumed it was the same PCB as TE round 2, not TE-S. Well guess I'll just wait for the next gen to come out, It's good to know he's working on it. People are saying how easy it is in that thread, I really can't wait for him to finish. Maybe I could build the RJ-45 PS2 cable while waiting. Is this cable also used for the MC-Cthulu and other mods towards PS2? Just so in case he ends up not being able, I won't have it done for no reason. Also, we'll very probably open as close to 1 PM as we can tomorrow then. We'll talk about all this, I just feel like if I don't post it I'll forget for sure. @Nini : good idea. are you still coming tomorrow?
  12. At what time do you guys coming to the HQ want us to open tomorrow? Just so we don't open at 1 PM and no one shows up before 7 PM. Pretty sure I'm going to give Brice a ride, so we're not going to depend on Chambly's horrible Sunday bus schedule. @Nini : do you still want a TV? Unless some shit happens like last week I could bring it to your place tomorrow and give you a ride to the HQ after.
  13. Wow. Maybe I'm underestimating this, but I get the impression that using the tools they have at the HQ, if I get there early on a Sunday, I could finish in one session and still have time to play. Seeing as the PS2 mod requires an RJ-45, looking at the optional step, is the pt.4 (ps2 cable) of this tutorial, http://shoryuken.com/f177/rj-45-multi-console-cthulhu-arcade-stick-tutorial-ver-2-a-231734/ what I should follow for building the cable and this specific piece http://www.amazon.com/Neutrik-NE8FDP-Ethercon-Through-Connector/dp/B00067JSTG all I need as materials in addition to a standard short RJ-45 cable for the sticks's side? Just making sure, because this sounds way too perfect (cheap and easy), and like wtf, I have a ps3 but bought the 360 TE for modding purposes and kinda regretted it because the piece I had in mind went out of stock but now this... Sounds crazy. I was just telling myself that I was going to delay this, but heck, why delay it when this is available. Having my own PS2 stick might be a good motivation to finally learn melty XD now to start thinking about buttons, artwork and other stuff... Anyways, thanks for the heads up. @Eb: looks like next sunday it is.
  14. @Nolan : Yup, complete opposite for me. I go with the characters that poke/reset/zone with lower damage, but then I screw up and end up on the receiving end of what you said. @Eb : Well, next week is probably going to be really busy for me (I'd be really surprised if we manage to finish our project before Thursday midnight aka the due date), so I probably won't go to a meetup next Thursday/Friday. Unless you're there this Sunday, it would be the following Sunday, I guess. @Ken : I think GG is getting more and more people interested. Just play some casuals against another scrub like me at meetups, eventually you'll get a good feel for your attacks (spacing, situations, unsafe shit) and get used to landing/confirming BnBs. Me and Brice play at least a game or two of third strike every meetup, I think Airmaster and maybe a few others would be up for some casuals, but hey, I'm really horribad at that game, all I do is jab/roundhouse/DP. I'll show you some AH3 next time, good thing there's a computer at the HQ, because I really don't know every character's BnBs, but hey, (2A-)B-C-SUPER is usually enough when you're not used to the game. If you want to practice at home, you could plug in your controller/stick and then use joytokey and whatever driver you need (Motioninjoy works well for ps3 controllers, sticks don't always require you to download a driver). Stick layout is ABC controller layout is: square A triangle B Circle C Cross D R1 E D E A+B (+motion) is supers, A+D is grab, A+B+C is extend force, C+E is burst. A is light attack, B is medium, C is strong, and D is homing. E is special, kinda like in MvC3, if you use it with a motion, it is 100% arcana specific. 5E knocks your opponent away. 2E is a universal launcher I think(need to use homing cancel to follow up as well, usually), some characters' anti-air too. [5]E and [2]E are unblockable or guard crush, j.E is character specific, but can work as an air combo finisher and all E moves usually are slower and have greater range than C moves. But hey, this wiki has a lot of info if you want to look into it : http://arcana.mizuumi.net/wiki/Main_Page Battle Fantasia would be fun to try out at a meetup with everyone not really knowing what they're doing and figuring it out as they go, don't see it becoming much more than that though Melty looks like a really great game, but I'm going to put priority on other games first. We don't always have a copy at meetups, barely anyone plays it, but it's a game I'll definitely learn after I feel "decent" in GG, AH3, CS2(if it comes out one day, lol). @Unsanctifier : don't you mean Valk too?
  15. Woah, I keep forgetting that one. I tried it out in training mode but never remembered to use it in a match... too many different setups It looked effective though, I should really use it.
  16. I hope I'm not getting annoying with this, but you keep picking the sophisticated characters, and they come with their sophisticated way of dashing.
  17. Random + wierd. Sounds fun. (well, until people figure it out )
  18. Guess I'll answer for him. Looks like Order Sol and/or Slayer, but you probably could have guessed that Could you give me some answers to those questions for my zappa (top players, other than mitsurugi)?
  19. Learn millia and some arcana heart character too (j/k, carl trolling sounds pretty hype) @Kaeru : so you said you could repair cables?
  20. Oh it's cool. All we had at Nemesis was what we brought. Consoles are generally not a problem, people bring their PS3s to the HQ twice a week. The only problem is really the TVs, actually, if you guys aren't planning on using them, can we borrow the CRTs from the HQ? (unless some people in our community, other than me, are willing to bring theirs) 3 tables is great, unless way more people than planned show up it should be enough, thanks for those. Depending on attendance, I might bring mine if we think it would be useful and have enough TVs, but that will be confirmed later, like a backup plan.
  21. Yo cranky, this is Pedro. At Nemesis we were running on 4 setups (3 blazblue and 1 other games). I think this time we should get a bit more, people were waiting and watching a lot, but the tournament still ran smoothly. I think we should go for like strict minimum 6 TVs, and no more than 9, so anything in between would do the job. Like last time, it would be possible for us to bring some of our own stuff, but I don't know at what point people are up for bringing their TVs. I'm still willing to bring either 3 or 4 screens (1 evo monitor and the rest CRTs). PS2 games will necessarily be run on CRTs, but I can bring those, keep this in mind. Heck if we somehow suddenly decide to bring additional setups last minute, can I bring the 2 foldable tables from my place? I'll get back to you on streaming, but depends on how many people from out of town. If it's almost only us, just finals or winners/losers/grand finals on stream is enough IMO, we'll just record other stuff. But if a lot of others show up, it would be interesting to have a stream dedicated to us and tekken, kind of like with final round... if this is possible. But yeah, it's kind of far so we're going to try to get a bunch of people from team NAH to show up, but it's really hard to tell how many exactly we'll be. Last time we had 25 participants so I'm sure we'll be at least that much. @Unsanctifier it's cool lol, try to get some people from toronto to come with you to MAT8 though
  22. Ugh I was so tired tonight, had fun anyways. Barely played any BB but it was cool, my combos are rusty for some reason, guess I'll get there early next time and warm up properly. GG and AH3 are still way more interesting than MvC3 imo. Zappa's dog is gonna need work though (well, as in slightly more than the other modes). Well, GGs guys, hope Sunday will be as hype. Big thanks to sphyra for bringing your PS2 stick. Shoutouts to nolan for showing up. don't forget them converters so you guys can get recorded without a handicap. And uh, shoutouts to the SF guy who hung out with us but I can't remember the name.
  23. Wow 2d 236d sounds interesting, I've been using that combo ender every now and then to mix things up, but I usually go for (air) 236a after the final j.2C. Will definitely add that to my options, with that gold burst combo too, thanks! hadn't thought of sod4(RC) sod4, sounds lulz, kinda like corner SoD x n trolling in CS2.
  24. I feel like trying it out. I have no idea what the cast is, but it was made by asw so...
