  1. There's a good number of excellent matches done online or at non-major events, so that can be shown off. Also, we have a big casual community, that's why we're in half the trouble we're in with the overall lack of serious players. At this point, having gossip articles to pull in people to also browse over the more serious articles could help. Some players just need a nudge or a spark of inspiration. If you believe that I am a bit misguided in my reasoning, then let me know as you've definitely been more involved in the community in this regard.
  2. Would this be interesting, important, and/or helpful to a good number of people? Front page. Increase the activity and number of reasons to visit the front page and you'll give that page usefulness. I think there are a good number of people who are willing to help. However, I think some people are waiting for input/being told what to do, avoiding stepping on the toes of better players than them, or just wondering if it's even worth the large amount of effort. This first push is going to be the hardest but it'll be the eye-opener the community needs.
  3. I know this, I watched both the vlog of your house and DodgeObelisk and the matchup against MysteryKage. It would require people to send in videos and to be actively involved and comfortable in this. And a lot of this is being done or has been in the past but not put on the front page. As for volunteering, I'll do whatever thing that I possibly can with the budget that I have to help. Skills are still under question by some people but I'm game for a good number.
  4. Perhaps we could do a "Matches of the Week" thing pertaining to recorded online play/tournament play to showcase some of the known and unknown talent and better play. It would give the front page some constant activity every week. Secondly, it would allow players to have a steady source of videos to watch and draw proper fighting strategies from. I'm just thinking that if we put a lot of the good videos and information that's in character subforums on one centralized page (the front page), that would give it some major purpose. I'm not saying take away a lot from the more important sections of the forums, but throw up some things from the stickied threads like important tournament dates or the scene interviews like Polka had in mind. I know I'm probably reiterating what someone already said but I hope not.
  5. Honestly, discussion on this thread just brings to life the problems already wrong with the community that the people in the know have already figured out. The people that will change this community for the better will do it by their actions and not their words.
  6. I...I didn't know this was in Columbus. Hot damn, vacation time! And BB for now, though GGs a maybe.
  7. It's called "fuzzy guard" as you are using the game's fuzzy logic against itself to create a blocking situation that normally wouldn't happen. When you block an attack standing, your hitbox will be as though you were standing for the entirety of the blockstun. The game will still register your crouch block but you'll still have a standing hitbox. This "glitch" allows you to use instant overheads to hit a crouching opponent you normally wouldn't.
  8. Ahhh, I got you. I just meant that "safely into" was the time of the frame trap between j.A and j.D itself. Hell, I don't even know if this was brought up before and I hope it helps. NOTE: I tested it on Plat, Makoto, Bang, Ragna, and Tager so it seems universal. If the fuzzy guard j.A works, you'll get an extra two frames of hitstun (14). Good luck with the tests.
  9. It safely frame traps into j.D if they mash out after j.A. If you read your opponent right, they'll try to do something or fall out of hit/blockstun and you'll get the reset into j.D. If your opponent guessed right, then you can just j.4D the next time and hit them from behind and low. Secondly, you can easily cross an opponent up and it makes it all that more confusing. It's not a misnomer as what happens after j.D was none of my concern as you should get the hit into great damage if you can read well. Otherwise, there are other options to pursue to shake your opponent up.
  10. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10681-CS2-Valkenhayn-Technical-Discussion I don't even surf that forum.
  11. Time the neutral tech and use its' invincibility frames to avoid it or forward roll if you see them going for it.
  12. So, after watching one of Luna's newest vids showing off how meh j.B is as an overhead, I got bored and screwed around a bit with Noel. I don't know if anyone has already found this or what not, but here's something I found interesting: Basically, if 5A/5B are blocked by a standing opponent, you can mix them up with fuzzy guard/instant overhead them with j.A or hit them low with 2B/2C. You can't combo much off of rising j.A to my knowledge. However, this mix-up situation serves to rattle and confuse an opponent who was getting too comfortable with blocking low and watching for overheads. The resets off hits/j.D trap (upper body invul) on blocks are just generally safe and effective ways to get your Drive starters off of rising Fuzzy Guard j.A. Hopefully, this will help and thanks for entertaining my crazy idea.
  13. Yeah, I see this being great news for Hotaru and Tsubaki as you can use them a little more loosely against jump-ins/approaches. Otherwise, Kishuu is the best news I've heard in a while. However, if Enma doesn't have the projectile invul as well, you'll have to use it like Dudley's Ducking Upper. In the end, that's going to be worth the magatama.
  14. It's like ryoko said. If you use a special that would use two or more magatama to execute and miss/whiff, you don't suffer the normal cool-down of 3 seconds (180F) that you normally would. It's a universal thing, as any character that spends 25% or more Heat at once suffers a cool-down period where they will gain 75% less Heat they would have normally. The difference with Hakumen is that his auto-gain stops in addition to the normal penalty. So if it whiffs, no cool-down. If you hit/get blocked, it goes into effect. I think this will allow you to throw Hotaru out a little more liberally.
  15. For 6D (→D): 6D > Hop (His Dash) > 5C > Gurren > 6C [2123] 6D > step and jump forward > falling j.2C > 5C > Gurren > 6C [2336] 6D > Hop > 5C > Zantetsu > 3C [2634] For 2D (↓D), you're going to have to bite the bullet. I use the 360 pad and the dashing does take a bit of time to get used to. However, I can do everything I need to just fine now on it so just keep practicing.
  16. This way I see it is if it staggered them long enough to connect with the second hit of Renka without pulling them in, you could do any other special/Shippu else in that timeframe.
  17. The proration on 4C in that loketest is the same. The only big difference I see with the charge is that you can special-cancel 4C while you can only Distortion-cancel 6C. Still waiting on what people have been testing with it. I think a charged 4C pulls them closer.
  18. Hakumen's 6C (Charge) frame data does not list how many frames it will take until the attack will come out after releasing the button (which is 8 frames). It's listed in the "Startup" cell but incomplete in the notes.
  19. Not the same at all.
  20. It's the first loketest of an update that is not anywhere close to being released on console. Almost none of the people that will/have read it will be affected by CS2+ anytime soon. These changes are not at all final and it would only cause an unnecessary shitstorm.
  21. I think the idea of the first few episodes is a great starting point. I would keep the first very basic episodes short and simple, while continually transitioning to the format you are going to use for the show. I would publish the basic pre-recorded shows all at one time and have the first live show a bit afterwards, giving viewers enough time to see if they would be interested and comfortable with the format. The live shows should allow the people to talk and discuss things at a comfortable length without feeling too long. One thing I dislike about podcast or web shows is the fact that people will go off on a random tangent without having a certain point or intelligent input. Make sure to save the recording to be uploaded onto YouTube for those who were busy during the live show. It'll allow people to watch videos multiple times if a concept that was discussed is a bit difficult to understand the first time around. Also, people can subscribe and have it brought to their attention that a new show was recorded and posted. Lastly, you can use that medium to post "Hey, we're going Live in X" or "Hey, Show's on Saturday at 7 PM PST" videos to encourage live viewing. Overall, that sounds excellent and I don't know how I would help (other than spreading the word) but the invitation's out there.
  22. Yo, guys, can we get back on topic? I'm sure Dacid appreciates the thesis paper on how he can constructively improve his commentary, but let's get this back on track and show that we can have a discussion on the subject matter.
  23. Just a mass response: 1.) It is 3721, I got the last two numbers backwards. 2.) Damage Values and Meter Gain is important to have because these may not still be truly optimal. Also, having multiple routes and difficulties can give players different ways to go if these are too difficult or to find something new about said combo. 3.) The Zantetsu combos you noted take 4 magatama when the other one takes three.
  24. Honestly, it's not just going to tournaments, but also one of the bigger games as well. There's two reasons for this line of reasoning: 1.) Your word means nothing to a lot of people if you haven't proved yourself in the overall fighting community. Secondly, if you beat the others at their own game, you show that you're not just good at the "reject fighter" as I have heard people say before. Then, you can advocate the smaller game that got you into the competitive scene on a bigger stage and to a wider audience. 2.) You can't expect people to want to warm up to and play your favorite game if you don't do the same with them. Having a "I HATE CAPCOM, BUT PLAY BLAYZBLOO WITH ME" mentality is not going to get anyone anywhere. This may detract from what I've said in the past but I've started to see the error in that. That aside, I think that the "anime games" stigma is pushed more by us than anyone else. If you've never played the game before and saw a crowd of people that only played one game exclusively (and mostly avoided the others), I wouldn't blame you for looking at them a bit weird. Branch out, play other games that other people are playing, show them that BlazBlue matters in some sense and the fun/reward someone could have playing it. We're all a part of the fighting game community and I think that we should share a common interest in other games as well. We're all a little awkward/weird in our own way. I agree that any posts on SRK's front page are good for BB. I would stress quality over quantity, but the more people see it, they'll get curious and ask the others at the local tournaments what the game is about. If you get that ball in their head rolling, you're golden. Hell, both sites would get more visitors and wouldn't really steal from the others. Posting stuff on DL is good but we need to focus on the forums section where everyone looks for information. We're not at the stage of a self-sustainable community or do we bring in traffic because of the front page to make it a primary concern. If we get exposure on SRK, those interested are here to look for specifics and not more news like which they had read to get the notion to come to Dustloop. We need to get video guides (or an equally streamlined idea) and a common format in which to present others with information on BB/GG. Artistic individualism is good and all, but we're trying to promote competitive gaming and information. We need mods to work together to make every sub-forum able to equally stand with the other. This means complete match-up threads, similar formatted information, and people that will actively give more time than they should for the good of the game. Whew, that was way more than I expected to type. O_O
