Strangely Compelling, I think.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Narroo replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
For those not wanting to run through the voice acting thread but want the meat of the localization news: Strangely Compelling has been confirmed as the localize'ers through the arcade credits. And yes, there is Engrish. -
Can we start a petition for ArcSys to stop using "Strangely Compelling?" I feel we should make our voices heard. Even with budget localization, this is still insulting; how many other games from Japan in recent years get such as bad localization?
-
I might not buy this game if they're still using "Strangely Compelling." I know they're on a budget, but this is starting to become insulting.

There's totally reason: I want to understand what the characters are saying! Makoto was amazing in BBCSE simply because of her lines, like: "SPOOOOON!" -

But, we still haven't confirmed who is actually doing the dubbing and translating. Aksys is only confirmed for the publishing and if way forward is responsible for the dub it's probably going to be 90's quality acting. -

So wait did Aksys do the localization then? I know your publishing, but do you know about the library mode because Aksys translated it? -

Why would 3D make a difference? Would it be a rending issue? -

Haven't played it; how good is it? I hate input lag with a passion, even small amounts, which is why I like GPPO. I don't mind roll backs, so I'm willing to sacrifice a bit in connection quality if it means no input lag. -

That's unlikely really. They usually cut corners on American releases and their online usually is only good enough to be serviceable for Japan. I really doubt they're secretly reprogramming the netcode, which must already exist for the arcade version, to use GPPO or some other great system like it. -
Chrono Phantasma Story Discussion [fun tentatively allowed again]

Noel vs. Valkenhayn Mister, are you a beastkin...? Being able to transform must be amazing! And, umm... do you mind if I touch your tail? ...Honestly I kinda want to too, except Valkenhayn is a jerk. -

I think YRC is the only 25 meter option now, isn't it? (How much is Blitz Shield?) -
Why did Yu Narukami need Heroic Bravery anyways? Why did he need a gap closer for his combo strings that ends in either a strike or a command throw?
-
Adachi's Voice actor was bad in Ultimax. It's Captain Johnny Young Bosch, who also happens to do the main character in that game as well. Adachi sounds like Yu Narukami trying to sound creepy but failing miserably.
-
My experience is that almost everything Sho can do, Narukami seems to do better. So, 2B can combo into 2C? I did not know that.

To me, Dishonest are things like Teddie's Awakening Super: "Circus Bear." Circus bear is a completely invincible, unblockable, full screen super with a super fast animation that cannot be reacted to. You have to react to the super flash and know the timing and dodge it blind. How much damage does it do? Depending on the character and the version used, easily a third to half your health bar. So, if you go into the fight without knowing that the thing is unblockable, or the timing on it, you're screwed. There's nothing really as frustrating as loosing to a Teddie that you've been beating black and blue because he used Circus Bear on wake up and you simply don't remember the exact time to dodge the thing. For a bonus, if you do the SP version, for an extra 25 meter he'll do the C version followed by the D version! Two supers in one! Two chances to get screwed up on a move with no counterplay! That is dishonest if I've ever seen it.

I think Boss Sho may be able to cancel his DP into an air dash. I swear I've seen him do it.
-
Wrong thread. Whoops!
-
I've been thinking the same thing. Sho has terrible anti-air options. On the ground, the only anti-airs Sho has are his 2B and Moon Smasher. 2B has a super long animation which makes it unsafe on wiff- which happens often given how so many characters have attacks that magically stop them in mid-air. Also, it's hit box kind of sucks and it's head invincibility is a bit low given it's long animation. Moon Smasher...may or may not be air unblockable. I tested it out in training and it appeared to be air unblockable (and I updated the wiki), but then in matches it's been air blocked a few times. Other than that, it's an SP awakening skill and is very unsafe on block. Other than that, he can try to take to the skies himself, except his move-set there is more focused against grounded opponents. j.B and j.C are both aimed downwards, j.2C is for mixing up people on the ground, and j.A is alright, but difficult to convert to a combo in the air, I find. In fact, let's give a special mention to how Sho seems to actively try and end combos against air-borne opponents! If you hit someone with 5B and they jumped, you better be ready to hit confirm that on the first hit, otherwise 5B(2) is going to end your combo right there. Similar with 2B, except the second hit there can be followed up with Sweep if it hits just right. If it hits wrong, god knows what's going to happen because that move, which is our anti-air, is a bit unstable against aerial opponents. If you do start comboing aerial opponents, the attack string is rather unstable. Particularly, were proration can take away descending fang options, unless you have 25 meter. For a high proration combo, you need to furious action them. If the opponent is too high though, there's nothing you can really do.
-
So, what's the current opinion about Sho?
-
So, about Moon Breaker, his awakening SP skill. In training mode it seemed to be air unblockable, but I've seen it blocked in the air. Is there a window on that?
-
Boss Elizabeth may be immune to status effects. I just played BOSS Sho against BOSS Elizabeth in versus several times and not once did a status effect trigger.
-
I have a question about Challenge #20: How do you combo from Mind charge to Maziodyne SB? Thanatos always disappears before I can make him use Mazoidyne. Is the timing really that tight, or is there an input trick?
