  4. Tenacious D Demi is a seriously defensive character. When people approach they fear the dp. This puts you in control of the match. Your first objective should be to stay neutral and remain defensive. This means (2) things. force them to come to you, you gotta play a lil reactive. Additoinally, gain meter like crazy. You can kara-cancels specials for double meter! 623hk~lp or 236hk~lp or j.236hk~lp. If people air block your DP, generally, you are safe. Remain in this mode until you have at least two meters. If you notice you are winning, don't even change it up. Oki centered offense All your combo's should end in a sweep. From here, you HAVE TO rotate your OKI based on which way they are gonna roll. use these tools w/ combinations of your opponents rolls to create neato safe-jump/MidnightPleasure/throw-select setups. Whiff lk bat drill whiff mk bat drill whiff hk bat drill whiff a pursuit 8-jump above their corpse. The drills set-up "which-ways", the "8-jump" set's up jump-in 50-50's & a Midnight as soon as you land will autocorrect to cover multiple roll options. (3) last points for ya. Learn to do Meaty Midnight pleasure. This forces them to Jump or blow meter on wakeup. BEST THROW OPTION IN THE GAME. MEATY, throw invulnerable command grab. Once they are trained to jump on their wake-up. Use cl.hp to stuff their jumps. This options selects a throw if they didn't jump & if they did jump, you gain an air reset which means you can do a dashing Midnight Pleasure or a dashing cl.hp for the same mix-up back to back. Lastly, You can activate a pursuit from ANYTHING that knocksdown. This includes all specials that hit an aeriel opponent. EXAMPLE: you throw a full screen fireball and they manage to get hit out of the air. They get knockdown, you can do a Late Pursuit & start an Oki game w/o having to approach.
  5. ARe there input tricks for the kara dash? like 616 or anything?
  6. I am under the impression that j.lk setups are legit. To clarif: If you get a knockdown, make a commitment to a setup based upon which roll they choose & they choose the roll you committed to, the UB j.lk goes into a super and resets the scenario. You have to guess the correct ground roll. meaning each knockdown has 3 follow thru's depending on which ground roll you wanna punish. Oh wow, these setups also change depending on positioning of the knockdown. Midscreen vs corner. A lot of variables huh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZEyzsJz1zM#t=1h17m42s
  7. Many thanks for the experiment. Be nice to know the exact windows of frames proceeding the whiffed normal. Maybe someone else could pick up where ya left off? I feel this zabel thread needs a concise list of UB J.lk setups sorted by Character, knockdown & Ground roll. (Easier said than done). I've seen: ES GuardCancel: 8-jump descending UB J.lk, ... cr.hk for KD. Dashing.cr.mp, IAD UB J.lk on back roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_L6KmcMPfY#t=2m1s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J88bA1xb6PI#t=12m22s Many many more. Any Zabel players have staple setups they can contribute?

  11. Played a few hours of matches last night. Had a good time. 2]D[ has a bounce that's blows further away. Gotta compensate Carl's spacing. 3]D[ has a lil more hitstun, can link an airdash on standing combos hurt Nirvana meter is perfect. She can do a few moves, & she can also die. overall happy w/ Carl.

  24. I have only (1) qualms regarding VSAV & it's entirety. Here's some light shed on my other qualm I have since suppressed. (1) of these as the fact that some characters have mixups which are too fast to react too. So fast in fact, the one doing the mixups can't even confirm dmg. I would get upset watching the best of the best players dropping dmg for frame advantage & going for more mixups. Haitani (One of VSAV's highest players) openly says the game is too fast and some mixups you can't react to. he says the defender is forced to make educated guesses on what the opponent is trying to setup. We call this YOMI. I was never a fan of YOMI b/c my only experience w/ the concept is in Super Turbo: where it exist strictly b/c of a players lack of options and the opportunity to be predictable is adherent. However, yomi exist in vampire b/c of the game speed and knowing this has helped me escape much more situations than relying on my reactionary skills. This makes a dynamic interesting game! Truely, my (1) qualm w/ Vsav is the fact that DarkForces & TechHit input can be so close that you often DF when trying to TechHit or you don't DF when you attempt to. Here's the reason's why. TechHit's = multiple buttons not on the same frame. To make this a lenient as possible you can do 1 button per frame. Most people either swipe left to right or flat palm left to right. DarkForces = P+K (same strength) & same frame. The input leniency is limited on this one to help facilitate TechHits. In application, it's unrealistically challenging to reversal DarkForce b/c of the lack of frame leniency. I seriously feel like it's 1~2frames in total. My recommendation would be making the command for DarkForces to be lk+mp+hk or lp+mk+hp interchangably. This way the inputs could have another frame leniency w/o affecting TechHit activation. This would also NOT overlap ES moves IF ES moves were (3) attacks and not just (2).
