How is evo not worth the trip? The best of the best(imo) will be there. Biggest cash prize pot GG tourney going down this year(I think..). Plenty of time for amazing casuals all day/night long. Whats not to love? I also think that american/foreign sbo shots are a sham, but I guess they are the best way to promote gg over seas

lol, seems like every other post is about sjiad combos these days:kitty: How to do the combo to Johnny: 1. What ever launch > 2s 5h regular IAD jp... what ever you want 2. What ever launch > dashing c.s f.s 5h sjIAD jp... what ever(5k might work in the place of the first slash because it's only purpose is to lift johnny higher) You can use the same combos on Robo and Pot if you have trouble with them too. If you hit with a ch2d when you have dash momentum(which is a lot of the time) you dont even have to do that combo. You can just straight up do 5s5h sjs h d, and in the corner you can even do dashing 5s > dloop. Hell, if you're so worried about the sjiad combo you can even do ch2d into gb, or even fafnir. Both will be dloopable on all but the lighter characters. Reaver, if your opponent is walking forward out of your fuzzies, that means your meaty isn't actually meaty. I also suffer from this problem, especially now that ES and Honnou both have stumbled upon that solution, but as long as you're not fighting faust it can be resolved just by doing a stricter meaty. It's easy to fuck it up though if you are used to timing things to be a safe jump, and you didn't jump soon enough. On a random note, I love it when these forums are active, even if it is just this months round of reaver bashing edit: Can we start an Evo count off? Who is gonna make it out? I know Frank the Tank came last year Tit so you should just hitch up with him! Is the imfamous Ryan-Bill coming? Maybe his nerves have been hardened over this last year and he can truly unleash now in tournament settings. Juicy G is MIA but one can hope... MissedFRC, the rest of your crew is going so you should too! Zany mirror matches were fun that time you guys came down to ptown, sucks I was half passed out throughout the day. Kamui? I don't even know where you're from Reaver, this could be the ultimate chance to show us all, once and for all, that SVlv1 is infact the ultimate move in GGdom.

Oh yeah, here's that music video I was talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ1u2_PopPk

The only time I do gb ac frc lv2 gb is when I some how forget to hold down d after the first charge. I don't know why, probably because people see the ac frc like you said and panic to punish, but 2d gb ac frc lv1 gb hits a decent ammount on most people, especially deeper into the set like 3rd roundish. I do how ever some times throw a meaty lv2 gb on my opponent if I don't have time to do something else but I want to have some pressure(like trying to start a comeback off an awkward kd). Ironically usually after that I just do another gb and frc it to open up another guessing game. But it sounds like your set up has some merit though. If you can really put them in 32 frames of block stun consistantly. The only problem is at the end of the day, you're still using charge to recreate the effect of them getting up into okizeme(even though they just did get up right before). The key seeling points of it would be the confusion factor and not really give you the opportunity to do something really hard to block. You didn't mention it in your post, and I can't imagine off the top of my head, but do you have time to jump? Maybe even a jump they would be forced to block? Last random note... I was messing around with that set up and you can do 2d cc 5k as a block string it looks like(w/ running momentum of course).
-
New oki wise??? Not really. Order Sol okizeme is pretty basic for the most part, with out much room for expansion. I think the fanciest set up possible to him is a short(very short) running gattling into sweep into brp(cross up) and then brp frc into your meaty. The worst part about that is setting that mixup up is too pricey damage wise most of the time :/ And it doesn't hit people with fat otg hitboxes. What are these new tricks you're developing? Unless they are super gimicky posting them up wont make them any easier to block.

I hate May/Chip/Millia. Mostly matchups where your opponent will present them selves in a way that pinning them down and making them fight is very difficult. Sure, some of my normals will beat out some of theres if they approach me wrong, but on the most part I'm just plain forced to play reactionary GG and hope to just nail them in the face with a well placed ch and kill them. That and I hate millia tick/roll throws Pot is just a bigger target, and eddie has no guts

Just had a random idea. Do you think it would be good to make a Japan thread in the Match Finder section. I always feel bad about going way off topic with random bs in here, and it would be a good way for people who are coming to Japan and want to set up meets/drinking/whatevering to set that up. Courswe this thread would live on to chronical ES's adventure's but all the other random bs could be in the Japan thread. Could be helpful I guess, though our merry little band is pretty much disbanded come summer time In other news, GG's every one on fri/sat. It was great hanging out with you 722 and we should totally rock a casuals night in Minakami some time while I'm still in Japan:yaaay: That cosplay chick is rushing me down pretty harddd

I'm sloppy in a lot of my inputs as well, dont get my wrong. I just dont see why you would want to intentionally roll that input. Some times when I do a dashing 2s 6h I'll get a dp if I accedentally roll to 6

There is pleny of new combos that see varying degrees of use in competitive play. For example 0 and even Inoue will use dj.d going for a knock down where applicable fairly often. There are also the sji.s d s dj.h/s d(on pot you can actually land and do more combo, maybe robo/johnny too but I've only ever seen 0 do it on pot). Not sure if it's in the first page but the combos into kara cahrge kept lv1 gb are also pretty main stream. That said, not knowing how to do those combos isn't going to make you any less of a hos player, it's just that when you reach that lvl of play the only thing left for you to build on is your combos, and thats why silly stuff gets invented. On the topic of sjiad combos, I think what you might be reffering to with your "late cancel" theory Reaver, is the minimum height requirement on hos's sj air dash, which is actually quite high. I noticed it when I originally switched from jam to hos, because Jam's iad/sjiad has almost no minimum height so you can input it as fast as possible, but with hos there is a big(in gg terms at least) pause after you input the sj. If you make a concious effort to sjiad slower, I have a feeling you will nail the combo more often. That, and try hitting p later than you think you should. When I figured out that the sjiad combo wasn't all about just pounding out the input as fast as humanly possible I started getting it a lot more. In regards to using j.k instead of j.p, or instead of j.h, its all about your opponents height. Ie: if you feel you have juggled them too high(for some reason after a chj.h you picked them up with 5kssh or something like that), and especially if its a girl character, then you might want to go for the kick because there is a decent chance you are going to end up too low for even the punch to connect some times. Use jk/s instead of j.h when you connected the p but are shakey about the j.h because hitting a combo is better than falling out of one. I only use j.h in that combo on heavier characters and characters with long hit boxes like slayer/axl. It also feels like the launch off a non ch fafnir is lower so connecting the jh is easier in that combo. That said, I would never do sjiadjk over p just for the extra damage. oh yeah, why do you guys roll your super jumps? That just sounds like you're asking for input misses when just hitting 196 is so much cleaner and has no such risks. The only time I get accidental tk brps is, ironically, when I try to 1f jump/fd asap jumping off of a forward jump. Hmm, I guess the only thing I'd add is Kamui, if you really consistantly do 3 rep loops on any one in match play you have the tightest hos combos in the states, maybe even the world :P

So you could say RF is like the En of Faust?

You totally forgot the deep philisophical discussion about the inevitablity of robots taking over the human race. lol Sucks you lost to HH :/

If you're manly enough you can do iadjk jk off of almost any 5h launch you can get close to your opponent and low to the ground(ex: 2drc, ch BBU 6h 5h and most times off of iadjh 5h). It's only reallllly worth it though if you are going to take them to the corner with the iad part, so you can land and do a 5h into sjh d blah blah your combo of choice. And if you're super manly you will hj install the 5h after the iadjk k

I have to hop the shinkansen back to Tokyo from Osaka. Hopefully I make it out friday.
-
The twirly cape move is Magic Carpet Ride. Pretty exciting blog entry. See you guys this weekend I guess? You'll be in Tokyo right?
-
For combo #9 in that list posted on the last page, the counter hit something is the fireball super, just in case any one was wondering.

Good read. I guess Monty's situation wasn't anything close to those rumors we were hearing. Played Blazblue over the weekend at a con I ended up going to. I was expecting a GG meet but Veteru has converted all of Washington basically, and they happen to have two player owned cabs + 1 in a bowling alley, which shocked me a bunch. I finally had a chance to goof around with some of the other characters for free, and I think I might be playing that game more aggressively(especially after seeing firsthand how many good people have jumped ship ). It was good to get home... but Oregon life is just so slow. Counting the days till I fly back. Hell, I havn't even been drunk since Osaka. Can you tell Shuji to bring my ff4 the weekend of the 24th next time you see him?
-
Off of 2d rc you can go into 5h iad jk jk or 5h js jk 5h loops. Also, not 100% sure on this, but I thought it was generally considered that jd kd's are superior to pb kds. Fun combos though. On pot you can even jh k djh k 5h
-
Epic. You guys will be out the weekend of the 24th right? And when is Rod's bday?
-
WTB Osaka blog entry. Oh, and I didn't lose to Alex Rod

Sorry to necro bump, but something on the first page was marginally incorrect. You can safely bait SV with 2k, just not in the same way you bait the lesser dps. If you do it meaty enough you should recover in time to block, it's just not something you can do if you have to close a lot of ground after the kd.
-
I dunno how much of that stuff youd want to steal. If you read the comments on there it's just a bunch of people loling about how random he is and how much his combos suck. They also talk about how his opponents suck and the overall lvl of play at TRF has really fallen off(though I dont know if I can agree with that). Slayer dosn't have to do short gimpy combos into kd to get good oki, you can do long brutal combos into kd and still get the same oki so I personally wouldn't spend a lot of time dedicating your self to becoming a walking random number generator.

Man, thats pretty funny to watch, but if you understand anything about melty blood it makes a little more sense Fist tip would be to understand this game is not run forward and 2a(2p) into combo. You have to either trick your opponent into letting you hit them, predict their movements and counter appropriately, or just plain do something that they fail to block. Moving GG is much more calculated as the vast majority of characters have viable ways to anti air and control space, and depending on the match up you are going to want to move and attack differently. It's really hard to explain in a way some one unfamilliar with the game would understand, but I believe when and if you fight some one who has some experience with the game and feel you can't touch them at all, you should ponder a little more over this stuff. Combo-wise, I only use ky for fun at home in training mode, but the name of the game for him is basic hit > c.s 2h H VT > kd or another rep of that combo. You can do it of stuff like successful anti air, your throw frc, hitting with a greed sever, off an impossible dust, ect.. Basically any time you juggle your opponent with c.s you can go for it. If you don't feel like you can turn your hit into that combo, your next best option is to gattling into sweep(ie: 5k c.s 5h 2d) and then cancel the 2d into CSE(236d) to force your opponent to get up into your big fireball, giving you enough time to try to break their guard, and/or bait their reversal attempt. You can also run up and tick throw off the last hit(throw them right as they get out of block stun). Once you can do his air combos and combo into VT knock down consistantly, you can begin exploring his other, cooler, and much more impossible to block mixups he has, as well as nifty stuff like stun edge frc combos, but until then just make your zappa buddy wake up into cse every time. Run up 5d will work like a charm for a few weeks, but once you get a little more comfortable with the game you're going to need something else. Just be aware that in the event that the zappa guy gets the same advice you're getting, he'll probably be told he can run under cse, so be aware thats possible. Oh yeah, blocking is always good too.

How many of you guys actually use x > 2d > bhb ac frc > dloop? I have a tendancy to play inbetween lvls 1 and 2(as much as I tell my self I want to play 0 style) and with out that combo hos's combos off a low hit are rather lacking. I mainly bring this up because I usually force my oponent into the corner and just mix them up repeatedly with jumping oki, and on a high hit I can go into the fuzzy guard combo, but on low I just take the kd and start running and jumping again. Still dont have the run jump frc timing down pat, but I can do it, and given a frame or two of liency by my opponent I'll probably be black beating it like crazy this weekend. Does respectable damage. Can you only do it off bhbl2?
-
Forgive my poor notation, I wrote j again infront of the s indicating a jump but I guess that failed. Yeah, jump after the kick and do what ever you want.
-
Rod, you better watch out! I remembered a good combo off lows you can even do at lv1:yaaay:
