  1. I can understand millia/ky/buri/chip on the low damage list, but johnny? Wtf? Have you ever been hit by a johnny when he didn't have 25% tension? That and combined with the fact that if he pressured you into a combo you probably have some guardbar. Sure he needs 25% for the kj frc, which he probably has if he didn't start the combo off something like ensenga rc, but come on... How can you even compare ky's damage out put to johnny's? If you get hit by the wrong thing when he's at lvl 2 you're fuxed. Sure its not like dot frc fuxed, but it's not "Oh noes I didn't block ky's mixup right:toot: ". Don't confuse low tier with doing little damage:vbang: Judging from your list, it brings to mind something I never really thought about, but one way to look at the tiering for AC is Damage > Mixup. In AC the ability to consistantly deal stupid damage outweighs the ability to repeatedly pin down and force a combo out of your opponent and/or the ability to produce the proper situation to put your opponent in the position to guess wrong. All of the characters you listed are based around repeatedly breaking your opponents guard and doing combos back into kd to reset the situation. When you think about it, it makes perfect sense, considering that while millia corner pressure is hard to escape, regardless of your character you usually get at least 2 free shots to escape, and if you can end her in two combos, that basically means if you can get her knocked down, she really only has to misblock one mixup and all her work has gone to nothing. Same with chip, although he's a little harder to get away from and pin down. Never really thought about it in that way, especially because even though I play a more power oriented character I still like to aim for mixup over damage, building them up to the point that I can trick them into letting me hit them with something big, whereas the more successful OS players spend the majority of their efforts on building charge to hit savage fang or something else big and painful. After writting all that, I think I basically re-affirmed(at least to me) that AC tiers are directly dictated by stupid damage potential, even though I didn't want to believe it.
  2. What can I say? I have calc class till 7 on mondays man. Got to rinse away the pain with some good old fashion dustloop browsing.
  3. Blog updated, lol
  4. I believe they were discussing tiers irrelevant to this thread, causing great confusion to all.
  5. Of course gb can beat out judge gauntlet if you do it close enough. It's the same as when you gb under hammer fall. He can't hit you if you're not there. Yes, RI can beat slide head, but if you're that close you probably have some tension, and you know what else beats slide head? Fuckin' fafnir. Never look a gift fafnir in the mouth. This is especially good against pots that like to do meaty slide heads from just out of the range you could normal block it. The reversal timing doesn't give you a ch, but if you're close enough you can get an iad combo, and in the worst case scenario that's 100dmg and a kd on the big man. I don't like rocketing against pot that much actually, unless I know hes gonna block it. the risk of getting randomly knocked down in a trade, and even plain the damage you take trading with pot is never in your favor, and if he sees it and hammerfalls, gg your face. As I said in that other thread, this matchup is about 2 key factors: Not IADing into 6p, and not getting pot bustered. Every thing else he can do to you is easily avoidable, but if not careful, puts you in position for one of the two above mentioned very bad outcomes. You also don't want to get knocked down close to him, but if that happened you probably got 6ped or bustered so I stand by my point. jp beats the aa grab if you jump and he tries to yomi grab you. basically, just try to be airborne a lot, or I should say smartly. When you find your self in a position in your offense where continuing pressure on the ground opens a window for buster, jp. Kind of the same for on the defensive, but you have more options. you can jump and punch, get him with sv, sj, ect. We have a lot of options, but some times it's hard to think when blocking pot pressure because the only thing going on in your head is "DON'T LET HIM GRAB MEEEEEEE". If pot didn't take so long to kill it would actually be a pretty good matchup for hos, but alas, where 1 mistake can kill you as hos, he's going to have to make a lot regardless of how manly your combos are.
  6. Its a fact. No ammount of exploring character potential is going to turn Ino into Slayer. This thread gets less and less relevant as time marches on. The longer we play the game, the more we learn the matches, and the less tiers matter in the end. Sure there is theory fighter to be had, and all the bs, but at the end of the day you know how to fight against eddie better than he knows how to fight against you thats all that matters. Statistically you should lose more times than win, but those numbers just represent an average. 2 years down the road, I still hate putting my quarters in against eddie. I don't think any shift in the tiers is going to make me feel better about that. edit: Oh, forgot to mention that yes, slashback is developing. Plenty of japanese players will sb you if you get ultra predictable. Blacksnake does the same stuff.
  7. I would just like to throw in that if you are going between 4 and 6 for successive parries.... you traverse through 5 giving you the neutral input you need... Parrying stuff like cse is still really easy...
  8. Dude, SV at the start of the round hits faust all the time. I <3 it.
  9. Slipknot man's hugefactor is not captured all that well in the pictures. I have no idea how that guy even fit through the door. Oh, lol, I almost forgot. I met like all of Buckcherry on Sunday. Too bad mogi was still out partying with some one else and didn't make it back while they were there
  10. There are also a lot of douchebag foreigners around. Japan doesn't have a multi-ethnic culture though, so they aren't as prone to political correctness or as understanding of why racial profiling is bad. If there have been cases of foreigners doing something bad/stupid, if you take into consideration how little the group of people you bar your service from/potential customers you lose, it's probably usually in the best interest of the shop to discriminate, or at least thats probably what the guy making that decision is thinking. No way to tell by looking how long some one has been in japan or how well they understand the culture.
  11. Oh, so thats how I've been inputing my sji combos all this time!!! It had always been a mystery:psyduck:
  12. How much are tickets? I want to see a handful of the bands, but a lot of them don't really interest me. If its like 5,000ish I might want to go, but I'm not droping $100 to see dragonforce and sonata
  13. Not getting serious with Saeko at all actually. She just lives real close so we hang out. Technically Mogi is still hitting it any way apparently, so shes more like my random dinner friend. On that note, chris helped me think up the ultimate Halloween costume. I'm gonna go as.... Mogi. Mame and nozomi both agreed to its awesomeness, but I have doubts as to the safety of such a bold move. Either way, saturday night is Loud Park, and there is probably going to be an epic party after. I support this with a strong guarantee that no doors will be broken.
  14. I really fucking hate the slayer matchup sometimes. Basically, your safest bet is going to be jumping, but fding those 6h's really owns your bar quick so you can end up jumping and not having the meter to block his potential normals and not even realize it. I honestly think that if the slayer is cautious enough, Hos is basically fucked in this match. 5s's only purpose is preemptively stuffing 2h, and that in and of it self is almost too risky to be worth trying. Rockit is pretty bangin', but 6p ch's it for free so you can't use it too liberally(though I'm pretty sure I've said it before, it owns the majority of stuff slayers tend to do in a neutral situation, ie random dandy/mappa). He can, and will anti air you. Even the mightiest of jh's will end at best in a trade, whereas you have no reliable way to anti-air him(or any one really for that matter, lolololol) and are forced to jump up to meet him or try to get out of the danger zone. I guess if your spacing was perfect, you could almost make up for all that with the ability to combo most grounded gatlings into fafnir into dloop, but I personally never land that combo, and I never see any one go for it I basically just end up running like a little girl until I can eek out some kind of kd.
  15. Saturday was the first time in my life I ever really wish I had my own digital camera. Honestly by the time that happened I was too drunk to even think of taking cell pics, so hats off to you bro. Besides that, been having interesting times with Saeko. Testing the waters at Jin tonight, but by the sounds of things I'll be drinkin' friday like always.
  16. Loving the increase in picture taking that is going on. Looking forward to the epic weekend that is to come(sadly my school is bullshit and does not observe monday holidays). I think I might hit up this concert Chris invited me to on friday night. Something like Lolita Zombie, lol. I doubt the music will be good, but I bet the girls will be cute, although theres probably a good chance it'll just be a room full of Yagos+Me and Chris
  17. To be fair, ib timing and slash back timing are two different cats entirely. FB bait is like pot/test 2d, aba moves, projectiles, ect. On a slightly related note, does IB keep your guard gauge down? Or is that just fd?
  18. Priceless pictures: Rod giving the inflatable guitar head, and the one of Antii with the chick he took home. It's not taking advantage if she was drunk before you got the bar baby. Also, is Rod flying in one of them? He''s either flying or its some weird photoshop shit, but his feet are not on the ground and it looks like he's standing... Lastly, just wanted to clarify that the "Ayano's Sisters" is actually Ayano and Sayuri. Hot dj sister has still yet to be caught on film(and damn, Sayuri is even hotter than my drunken self remembers).
  19. Seeing as in the few times I tested it I couldn't really get the 5h>jd part to hit, I'm just going to keep doing my simplified dustloop. 3-4 damage can be made up for with otgs in the instance that they survive where they would have died from a manlier combo, and in the instance that the otgs after the manlier combo would have killed, well, fuck, I'll just end the round in typical hos fashion with a jp:vbang: Either way, thanks for computing the damages so we can really gauge which combos to use. I actually thought the hj variation did more damage(I guess it does if you sji) and it's good to see that I'm not cheating my self too bad with my gimped combo. I honestly don't see the reason to use the sj variations except when you think they're going to be too high to get the first dust after the rejump. I get so many airthrows off keeping them low that it's not really worth it to take them up there unless you just plain can't do a running jump hs consistently(which if so, you should remedy that asap). for the tl;dr croud: Sorry WUT, I have failed. -The guy tired of getting punished for whiffing jh through teching opponents edit: I forgot that I wanted to say how giving up oki on sol because you don't want to get VVed is dumb because of hos's ability to safejump off like any of his knockdowns. I am also biased because my favorite style mixups are fuzzy guards, especially because getting a dloop off a fuzzy is probably the best feeling I get combo-wise outside of hearing "counter" after I throw out a fafnir(and it isn't me getting comboed)
  20. hj combo sounds like a waste, you can get way more damage out of doing the harder combos in the throw situation. As for the commbo you posted reaver, sounds interesting. I doubt it would work/knock down the lighter side of the cast, but having random 5h is always a good thing damage wise.
  21. I'd take a neutral situation over being forced to block something avoidable, but I agree for most people sbing gf isn't really something you can realistically count on. I just really hate hurdling towards some one that has one of those mystical j.h defeating anti-airs. And technically, in a neutral situation at that range, hos is a lot more dangerous assuming you're sitting on tension. Either way it's food for thought. What throw combo do you do on the sols? I've been kind of cheaping out and doing running jump 1/2 dustloop land 5s js d djd(sometimes another js if i feel like it's going to allow for the other jd) into either brp or nothing into potential tech trap. I know it's not the manliest thing ever, but I actually have been using this combo a lot recently seeing as the damage difference between it and a real dloop is minimal and it has all the same perks, just easier to execute.
  22. Dude, me and Artur actually met the Mikey couple the week you were hurt and at home. That guy is honestly a massive douche, and back in Australia. Artur and I both agreed that she is going to get burned if she gets in for real with him, and a lot of that night she spent crying on Arturs shoulder as I macked random girls >.> Either way, he had to flee the country to dodge divorce court lawyer fees, the mother fucker, and I doubt he's going to be back in Japan any time soon. Couple that with the fact that he speaks jack shit japanese and her english isn't so hot, I wonder how she even ended up with him? But yeah, sorry I interrupted that shit. Either way, Saturday was epic, and it was just a really good weekend in general. See you this weekend!
  23. I would just like to point out the fact that if the sol frc's the gf and you jump and go for a j.h, he will beat it with 5k or vv in the best case scenarios, and a massive 2h ch in the worst case. He can also frc directly into jumping p if you get ultra predictable. You basically put your self in a position where the best thing going for you is your ability to mixup with dj and air dash back, but realistically there should be no real reason for the sol to end up being forced to do anything at your mercy in that situation. Also remember, any time you can sv, he can vv. Toss that in your theory fighter pipe and smoke it. Not saying jumping forward in reaction to gunflames is a bad idea. On the contrary, it is imperative to getting free damage in a place where you should. I just want to point out that it's not as black and white as "If sol gunflames x is guaranteed" except in the situation of no frc. Also note that you blocking grounded normals in the air sucks up your meter just like his frcs. Why don't we all just suck it up and learn to sb gf on reaction? Only other thing I really have to add to this matchup discussion is how much I hate the massive sol combos hos gets nailed with.
  24. You know what confuses me? Why did random china street fighter guy switch to a mullet? And its not even one of those gay half mullets or semi mullets, he went all out:vbang: I managed to evade being captured on film this time, except for the one picture that has me molesting Sawa in the corner. A picture I hope chip never looks at too closely.
  25. What time is it happening? I just told the delivery people I'll be in my apartment between 3 and 5 on saturday >.>
