I play VHun for Donovan mostly, but I like Demitri and Fish in that game, too... The combo system is interesting though... I wonder how a new Vampire would play out if the chaining/linking system in VSav and the juggle system in VHun were somehow merged together with VSav's speed...

Yeah, you've gotta turn the settings down to "low" so it can run decently... But any machine should run MB unless you're running Windows Me lol... No new MB to come down the pipe anytime soon... UNIEL is kicking so much steam since its release... At best, maybe there will be more character cameos, but who knows... I for one would love Warakia to pay a visit in UNIEL...

It would be nice if the VSav players from other countries came together for something like the VSav tournies they have in Japan... At this point, I think uniting both players of VSav and VHun (Vampire Hunter) would do wonders imo. I know some people who can only adapt to VHun's playstyle, and because of that, they find themselves not going to tourneys or even hosting at events where people are willing to try said game... Perhaps we all can start drawing out those who play VHun, as it appears there's no scene, or those that do play aren't as vocal as those who play VSav...

At the very least, Capcom should attempt a kickstarter for Vsav 4 to truly gauge the level of interest... I'd definitely support it, and would spread the word... I mean sure, typically having customers buying copies of an older game would suffice for some games like SF2HF, but not too many people are familiar with the Vampire series, and the majority of those that are familiar are casual, so either they'll buy it and play for a month or two, or they'll just simply pass it by... I also feel as if Capcom thinks every scene for every fighting game they make is the same size/capacity as the SF scene (competitive + casual), and that's simply not the case... I feel Capcom also doesn't truly know how to "evovle" in terms of marketing with their fanbase for some of their titles... This kinda goes back to what I was saying earlier. The execs must've thought "If tt worked for SF, it must work for VSav" without realizing how truly understanding how different the game is (in comparison to SF), and the type of audience(s) this game attracts...

Yeah I wish that were the case... Sadly, even with that combo I posted, some argue that she's "mid" at best, although there's a bit more to their reasoning... I just posted the vid to show how deadly "low tier" characters can be... There's tons of things she can't do in 02UM that she could do in 02, like linking hcf+P from her teleport dashes, you could cancel d.D outside of Max mode, etc... She damn near had an infinite if I recall correctly... In a nutshell, her damage output, and how easy it was have virtually been stripped from her in UM... The usefulness of her tools have been slightly dimmed as well... I personally say she's still good, as I've witness some really strong Vanessa play... The player did have to put in some work though... Angel is considered slightly stronger than Vanessa mainly due to the fact that most of what she can do in 02 can be done in UM, minus her corner infinite--- and while she got a few nerfs, she actually received a good buff with her qcb+C move having KOF 01- like block stun, and her SDM is beefed up, too... I will admit though, the tier list overall does need an overhaul... -

I used to think that, but then I noticed people started doing the hcb, hcb, df+P shortcut... There were tons of people not using meter at all, and if they did, it was for special spamming since they didn't know how to do his actual BC combo... But there's always that few who actually knew how to play Nameless, which made matches more fun imo... Yeah, there's tons of characters who are equally scary, if not scarier, than Nameless... Kasumi and Orochi Chris are two I can easily say are annoying and deadly... Even some low tiers are ridiculous... Vanessa has this crazy BC combo that does a huge ton of damage... I can't wait to get into 02UM!! I like 98UMFE also, but I love how 02UM plays overall, BC combos and all... I definitely expect to see an army of Nameless players spamming j.C and a bunch of other moves, but there's so many characters that have anti-Nameless moves, Yuri is a good example... Well, if the community at large feels the current VSAV is fine and that a "newer", more polished version is needed, then the only thing left is to work towards bringing more and newer players to the scene... "Advertise/market" the game kinda the way the Smash scene does their game... Look how long it took for them to get any type of recognition in a seemingly "SF/Mahvel-only" FGC... The same goes for the MK community, but it took MK9 to drop, and even then UMK3 was still getting support (sorta)...

So I'm a bit upset at the fact that Savate was traditionally a French fighting style (or historically, it's been credited to the French), but the character isn't, but whatever... Honestly, Catalina = Christie to me... Maybe she's just another "easily accessible" character, but we'll have to wait and see. It'd be kinda cool to have a French character in a fighter that's not VF's Lion... As for T4, I liked the direction Namco was going with it, except for the 1+3 position shifting... The overall dynamics of the game made the game interesting to me... But to each his own... For those complaining about the combo system, it was all an attempt to make the game accessible for casuals to have some equal footing with those who are competitive, or those who aren't competitive, but happen to know a bit more about the system than the average person who just buys the game and starts mashing... Inputs were made a bit easier, and other combo possibilities where made so that you didn't necessarily have to do one specific juggle for max damage per sé... I still play games like Tekken 3 and all the characters that could do 70dmg (1/2 life) combos only had like a few specific combos that you had to know to do max damage, like Jin's laser scraper to demon paw or Lei's max damage with his Rush Combo... I don't mind the bound system, but I do miss the more Tekken 5-ish style of juggles that were more like an advanced version of Tekken 3/TTT... As someone else said, bounds also give relatively "lower tiered" characters a fighting chance. I know in T6, everyone could do 1/2 life combos, so it eventually went down to what tools your specific character had in terms of poking, frame traps, throw setups, etc... ...But yeah everyone who played T4 can agree that Touch and Go (airport stage) was one of the best tracks in the game... I liked how some of the stages' songs would change during a KO also... The only things I hated were the Arena infinites, that damn SNK jeep in the garage stage that was glitched out, EWGF, Steve Fox's 3,1,1~ infinite, and facing the armada of Jin players who spammed his jf Laser Scraper, which contrary to what people think, it's easy to beat...

Japanese companys cannot be bought out by "foreign" companies... There's some law on it... On a side note, I wonder if Sega, being originally an American company, can be bought out even though it became a Japanese company??? It would be great for something to happen to further benefit Capcom as a whole, including their Vampire series... Capcom does have titles that could use a revival, but most companies now are in that position (i.e. - Sega, etc)...

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Tencent decided to take over Capcom and buy them out... I think by far they're one of a few companies that could buy them out right now... But aside from all of that... How much "advertising" did Capcom put into Vampire Resurrection??? I mean they put some time into seeing the game come out, and they wanted to gauge "interest" in the game, but outside the FGC, and a few articles here and there, not much else was really said about it... For what its worth though, there was a bit of resurrgance in both Japan and the US... I came across new consistent players alot, and still do from time to time...

I read somewhere that Anita was supposed to be in VSAV, but there wasn't enough time to work on her as a character, so all that's there is the small little portrait hidden somewhere in the data files... As for Dee being added in Vampire Chronicles (?), he was a completely busted character. Instead of a hodge-podge of Donovan and Demitri, a completely new sprite would've sufficed... Even if they kept the character sprite, it would've been ok if he were give different normals and specials a la Lilith... VSAV is considered to be the best as far as Capcom fighters go, but neither the community is expressing or, nor Capcom is listening & willing to put the effort to gamble a fortune on a title that gets "enough" support... For something like this to actually go down, we all need to start getting people to purchase the game at least... Those who have the ability to stream the game, do so, and those that watch streams or would be willing to watch these streams, spread the word... Rotanibor streams this game quite often, and I do plan on getting back on Rebel Up when I'm done with my travels... I know Saltmines down in SD has been trying to do some things with the game, and those cats are waiting for me to return so we can battle--- I do know they're at least leveling up as am I. The point I'm trying to get at is that if we want something done for VSAV, we all have to be vocal... I am also apart of the VF community as well, and look what they had to do to get VF5FS for consoles... I signed the petition that tons of people signed, and that badboy went straight to Sega directly, and all of our (VF community) voices were heard. Even those who don't frequently play VF helped out to support the FGC at large... Things like this require us all to reach out to whoever we can to support something like this... Perhaps we can hit up Ono-san... I mean he's all we've got unless someone has connects to one of the original Dirty Beret members... Even then it's still a long shot... I know we all have the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality regarding the game, but I honestly want a VSAV that can attract both old and new players... SF did it, KOF did it, JJBA did it, VF did it, VSAV can do it too...

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that.... The problem becomes whether the community at large will appreciate it enough to support it... Would the team making it render the game in 2.5D or will it be all sprites? Would it be hi-res, or will the characters be palette swaps from VSav. WIll Phobos and other characters be added to the game, and if so which version will they play as? For the "weaker" characters in VSav, will the gain tools from other games (i.e. - Felicia's "projectile" from VHun)? Those are just some of the questions that would come up if anyone were to recreate that which is VSav. Again, I personally wouldn't mind because I'm open to the idea; however, the overall scene would have to be supportive enough to warrant some type of creation. As it stands, half of the people on sites like this would rather keep VSav the way it is, and others are praying for a new one to be released. I personally would like for the new one (if ever there was one to be created) to bring some sort of balance that attracts vets, elitists, newblood, and everyone else in between...

For vs Linne, when she's up close I've been patiently waiting for those overhead/throw mixups and open opportunities to use 2B > 5C into whatever combo (typically BnB). At a distance, I've been managing to abuse that 5C > 5A and reacting to whatever Linne does afterwards, especially if they jump in at a specific range--- a well timed 214B works wonders!!! Granted, this Linne player is equally new, but he's pretty decent so far, especially when it comes to coming up with mixups (he plays Noel and Ibuki respectively)... Sidebar (sorta): I'm working on figuring out air moves/specials 214B move beats out right now...

This probabl won't happen, but I'd love to see a NeoGeo Battle Coliseum 2!!! I still play the first NGBC to this day!!! Beef up to fighting system a bit, add more cameos, and I'm sold... The 360 version even had good netcode...

Great, and very informative article!!! I do wonder though: I've seen tons of Japanese players do some modified version of "the triangle", where they do everything but backdash, but instead move forwards and apply pressure from air to ground again--So it's more like a "buzzsaw" perhaps... Anyway, aside from movement, how does this differ from the triangle approach??? Lastly, I've also started noticing in matches that Bish seems to be one of the only characters who can actually apply some real sort of pressure to Zabel. Who else in the roster has somewhat of a chance in that department vs Zabel??? I kinda feel like Lilith has some game in that arena mainly due to how most players use her ability to interrupt and force abare with her dash attacks. -
So I wanted to revisit the Bubble, 632kk, gas setup. After conversing with a fellow VSaver, I'm starting to see some untapped potential in 632KK, gas. This setup alone allows Fish to put the opponent in a bubble trap for FREE!!! I tested this out with the whole cast, and the ONLY escape to this is going into DF. Some people have said that wasting 2 stocks of meter "isn't going to be good" for you anyway, so why do it??? Not all of the cast have some form of armor in DF. DF also costs one meter, so essentially they're left with two options, take the extra damage from Fish, or waste meter to save themselves, possibly putting themselves in another setup. There are ways to force the opponent to waste meter without this setup, but I honestly feel this type truly benefits Fish if he has tons of momentum already in the match, especially round 2 or 3, where this setup can easily close out the match. I've personally used this setup on a few occasions. I just need to pay more attention to when 632kk actually hits so I can quickly charge for the poison gas attack. Let me be the first to say that this setup is obviously better vs some characters than others. From my personal experience, QBee, Demitri, Lilith, Morrigan, Wolf, Bulleta, Jedah, and maybe Sasquatch can fall victim to this setup given the right circumstances. You have to keep in mind the opponent's meter also. Knowing this, and keeping momentum will definitely make this trick work wonders. For those that doubt, this is no more different than those that use DF to rush and bubble trap the opponent. Many people thought that was pointless, but after watching the "Devil's Playground" tournament, I see how effective that can be if done correctly. ------------------------------------- Regarding connecting jump-ins after gassing crouching/short opponents, it's probably best to do j.lk (whiff), j.hp, then combo afterwards... st.mp (1hit) > st.mk > cr.hk... I've also used st.mp (2hits) > cr.hk. You're still close enough to force another bubble trap if able, and you can still apply pressure.
