  1. I think Mellis has the right idea as far as improving as a scene. It's up to individuals to find their motivation and make time for taking shit seriously. Personally, though, I'm seeing a lot more of that happening recently. I feel the only reason we aren't more on that lab grinding/tech sharing status is how scattered we are in terms of skill/motivation/actual games we play. I'd like us all to play a wider range of games more seriously, but if we're gonna be real it's pretty obvious anything outside of Gear isn't going to be widely played. Atm I'm still interested in Xrd but I'm not really feeling Leo. Thinking I'll try Sin and Ky next, but if they don't click then I probably won't be playing Xrd anymore. I'd pick up +R if we started heading back to it. I'm also really starting to get into Street Fighter in general.
  2. I'm fine with the usual last saturday. Guess I'll use this post to start an interest/setup check for running Melty Blood next month. If it comes down to it I can bring a desktop but no monitor.
  3. Fighting Games you definitely want to travel for: Persona/Suplex/VSAV Majors you want to travel to for 2014: Final Round, NEC, Death & Rebirth Part 2? Ohio events in general. Versus games you want to play at MTNG's: VSAV, GG, Melty Blood, Persona, GUNDAM VS GUNDAM, CP Non-Versus Games you're playing for fun right now: Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, Waifu Emblem, Monster Hunter <3333 Games you're waiting for: Dark Souls II!
  4. VSAV got me really hype, I'm glad we finally had a tourney for it. Haven't felt that rush in a good while, and it definitely inspired me to practice a lot harder. @Kyle - I feel like the main things holding me back were a lack of match-up experience with Q Bee, not being able to reliably tech hit on pad, and having a weak rushdown game with Jedah. I had to rely on playing mad defense and throwing/poking/blood orb grabbing my way out of gaps in pressure. Show me where the silly Jedah stuff at. Tad taught me a bit, and it got me thinking on how to apply my normals better. For now I'm working on learning midair blockstrings and testing out where I can use renda stuff to stop jabs and condition people to let me jump on their faces harder. Having more knowledge dropped on me definitely won't hurt. Can't wait to make my way up to Ohio or see you guys down here. On that note, I'm finally going to put real effort into learning stick. On top of maybe being able to tech hit stuff now, I feel like it might be a good way to hit the reset button and rewrite my habits, not to mention clacking around on those buttons is satisfying. GGs everyone.
  5. I like this. Ah, thought we were talking after KOB. I still think there's much more interest behind games like Melty Blood or possibly VSAV. Only time I have a problem with Suguri is when it's going to replace what people want to play. If we can run everything I have no issue with Suguri getting played. If the scene prefers Suguri in general I'm down. I'm not "FGC cancer". I'm not trying to come up with excuses to get rid of Suguri and I'm not being hateful. Just calling it like I see it. Criticism isn't mutiny. Just because I don't have that experience doesn't make my point invalid.
  6. Wasn't the whole reason Fenix hardly got any casuals because we're lacking in suguri players anyway? It'd make more sense to run Persona, imported copies of CP, or even Chaos Code.
  7. Love this. I'm definitely down for this, and if MTN starts carpooling down I'll do my best to make it too. I'd love to see some love for Darkstalkers and Melty Blood.
  8. I wish. I can only play on PSN for now. Though I'm pretty dead set on Jedah now, I might dabble with Hsien Ko.
  9. Just as I start to feel like I'm getting the hang of Jedah on my own, I hop on dustloop and see these vids. <3 this game.
  10. Crashing at Vocal Sabre's for the weekend, so I'll be able to get some matches on PSN for anyone who's down. Gear, Persona, Blazblue, 3rd Strike, Tekken, whatevs.
  11. I wanna. . . play. . . VSAV. . . I feel like I'm the FG ghetto. . . also, ggs to my 2nd hand net going out for 24 hours right before I went to play Klein.
  12. I'm not going to be playing anything for awhile, but when I'm back it's at the top of my list.
  13. All I'm sayin' is the disparity is even more prevalent in fighting games than it is in Chess. True balance is rarely ever achieved in any form of competition.
  14. White's advantage isn't enough to force a win. That's like saying a match-up is unplayable because it's 6-4. If both sides play flawlessly, the match will end in a draw. The whole draw vs w/l thing is a debate in itself, but I don't see how anyone can see chess as particularly unfair when we play fighting games. Also Star's not telling people that he topped Sonic leaderboards :@ also i'm the reigning champ of starting internet arguments
  15. I'm like a jack-of-all-trades in games. A bit above average in everything, high level in nothing. Kind of frustrating sometimes.
  16. Injustice looks cool and all, but my body is busy getting moist for sexier games.
  17. Shoutous to Eshi, MTN, and people I didn't get to meet. Turns out I'm going to be sticking around TN for a while yet. Though I probably won't be going to any meetups for awhile. Don't forget me. <3
  18. Man. . .I feel like the characters I've played so far have left me with a weak understanding of how to mix-up. Like in BB I relied on counters/pokes for wins. In Persona with Liz I play like a gambling addict, and now that I'm playing a pocket Narukami I've learned that I'm way too reliant on muscle-memory. It makes my pressure seem telegraphed and when I try to be spontaneous I end up feeling mashy. How do you guys practice mix-up/pressure?
  19. I get the feeling Chandler would be a god by now if he wasn't busy finding all this crazy stuff.
  20. why do people play any fighting game? they're all fraudulent. they're all (usually) fun.
  21. I'm not supposed to start drama over this, so I'm deliberately being vague. Probably not vague enough, but whatever.
  22. Right? I don't mean to keep bitching, but I was just so mindfucked I had to put it down in words.
  23. So apparently when you play a character with limited options, you're supposed to take at least two of those options and never use them. Elizabeth should never attempt to fight back, because she's a mere mortal in the face of divinity. If you use the options available to you, you're scum that wishes your character was broken.
