  1. I see. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. About that, what happens when a PS4 and PS3 players face off online? Considering speed mode blurs out the backgrounds on the PS3 does it do the same to the PS4 player too?
  3. Ouch. Harsher words never spoken mate. Moving on, I am saddened to hear the game is having problems on the PS3 (heard no mention of the PS4 version) but them's the breaks I guess. You go for the cheaper version and you will be bound to whatever problems it might have. Considering my internet has been running like a 3-legged, overweight horse past his prime and that I have not been able to secure a PS4 for myself, I guess I will have to wait out on the title for a bit. If nothing else, the NA LE delay makes things a bit better for me in this regard.
  4. Well you know what they say "One rotten apple to ruin the whole bunch" and all that jazz. So I had some time to let Sol's voice sink in. It's marginally better now that I've grown more used to it. Keith Silverstein definitely sounds good in actual combat. The problem is the cutscenes and dialogue. I don't have a problem with characters talking like a blender full of gravel most of the time...when it is appropriate. If you do it 100% of the time, you're going to come across as "corny" and "not serious", neither of which actually befit Sol's character (IMO). Still, that's just the demo. Who know's what he'll be like in other routes. And I have gotten a chance to hear Venom's voice. Uuuuuh yeah it is pretty darn terrible. As is Erin's Ramlethal. I figure it HAS to be poor direction though as neither of their ENG VAs are rookies (or at least, Erin most certainly is not). Erin could have used a little softer tone from her Bullet voice and it might ave worked a little bit better. Ah but oh well, there is always the JPN option, much as I would rather both sides be so good that I have to struggle between picking them...
  5. Speaking of that, Sol's current voice reminds me much more of Brian Drummond (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONy4BR68siw#t=193) as opposed to Steve Blum (which incidentally is shown in the video too). Still can't seem to get to used to it. But then again I probably need more exposure to it before that happens.
  6. When people are talking about CP2.0 Nu are they comparing her to vanilla Kokonutz or 1.1 Kokonoe? I admit I haven't been following CP2.0 much lately (hype just died down) but I find it odd that Nu would come back with a vengeance. I was betting more on Amane being secretly dirty OP and Lamb-chops being a monster.
  7. Yeah, the physical manifestation of the voice director's incompetence. Well technically he should be called That TEEN/BRAT considering his body's current...state. Oh I totally agree. Much of my frustrations are just first impressions anyway. It is most likely to change once I have the game in my hands and listen to the voices at my own preference (the background music really does obscure a lot of the voice acting from the videos I saw, despite the music being fan-tucking-fastic). I plan to and will adhere to being as fair as I possibly can (keeping in mind that personal bias is always present). Even if I do end up switching to JPN primarily I will at least spend time with the ENG cast. As mentioned earlier, I like a good number of them. Tara Platt is always a joy to listen to and considering she was my pick for Millia (2nd in fact) I have absolutely every intention of listening to her full performance. Her getting I-no's role as well is a surprise so I will need to look into it too. I like May. Eden Riegel is a good fit there. Bedman is a hoot. I'm surprisingly OK with Fitzgerald's Ramlethal, but I need to hear more before making the final judgement. Still need to hear Venom, Potemkin and Zato though...
  8. Well he was That Man in Overture though it is debatable if you consider him an "antagonist" or if you even consider Overture to be a "fighting game".
  9. The thought occurs that, while the voices are either hit-or-miss (and in some cases it really shows), perhaps we're so taken aback by them because we've grown so used go hearing Joji Nakata's Sol or Junichi Suwabe's Venom? I mean by no means am I justifying a poor performance, directing or miscast but perhaps we're more critical of the dub because (save for the sole exception in Overture) the JPN voices were all we ever heard in GG? Perhaps in due time they will grow on us. I mean hell, Sol's voice fits when he is actually fighting (more or less) but when forced into cutscene dialogue it falls apart. Much as I don't view it favorably, the VA definitely has potential but needs improvement...or better directing. Yeah probably the latter. A part of me wishes it didn't come to this in the first place though. This is the long awaited next installment of the GG franchise FFS. You'd think that ASW would shell out everything they possibly can to wow their audiences like they did with BBCT and then start getting sloppy as more games are added to it.
  10. True, except this time I can actually understand him and follow along .
  11. Just heard Yuri's Bedman and I have to admit, I lul'd. It's not what I'd call "amazing" but it is definitely good for a laugh. It's like they came up to him and said: "Hey lad, you remember Blur from the original Transformers?" "Oh yeah I remember that guy. Talks so damn fast". "Splendid! Because now you have to do the exact same thing for Bedman". "...;^;"
  12. She went from characters that have adrenaline constantly pumped through their every orifice, to a character virtually devoid (mostly) of any emotion. I'd call it a miscast but then I remember Erin also did characters like Parasoul from Skullgirls and I wonder if she was just not given much direction to go on or she really just couldn't figure the character out...
  13. Alright first of all, my dear God, what have they done to Sol's voice? As some already pointed out, he sounds fine during the fights. But outside of them he sounds lost and confused (read: misdirected). I share the sentiment that it might not be Steven Jay Blum, if only because it sounds more like someone wanting to be the guy. Ky threw me off when I first heard it. He sounded "too young" considering this is supposed to be a matured, sophisticated ruler. But after a while I got used to it. Millia is Tara Platt. One of my personal picks and she does a fine job here. I got no real complaints. I am so used to Erin Fitzgerald these days that her Ramlethal sounds alright. Could be better at points but eh, whatevs. Her Lucifero familiars are also done by Sam Riegel (P4G Teddie voice) so it's not all bad. Sin's OK. May sounds..."cutsey" but without the sheer ear-bleeding I experience when hearing her during JPN fights (cutscenes though she's far less irritating). Axl sounds phenomenal though. I'd play him for the voice only had I ever actually cared what happens to Axl but details. I haven't gotten a chance to hear others but so far, I have mixed feelings. Some parts are good. Others that aren't really stand out. Oh...what a "delight".
  14. I play on stick sure, just not at a comfortable enough level yet where I need to have one on the PS4. Plus for 5-button fighters like Guilty Gear, I tend to prefer playing on a controller (even for 4-button ones like BB and P4A I am not as good with a stick as opposed to a controller). It's not that big of deal breaker for me. But we'll see what happens in 2-months. I would like to own it on the PS4 but that will depend on how much I can save up.
  15. Been looking for a reason to get a PS4 for sometime pretty much but couldn't justify it considering nothing it currently has makes me want one right this second (Kingdom Hearts III, FFXV and Type-0 are not going to come along in a while and Destiny is not my thing). Xrd however IS something I want and comes within a reasonable timeframe. Sure, a PS3 version would be cheaper but it's not much of a headache right now to splurge for the holidays. I could always go look for a used PS4 and save a bit of cash too (though that's not really my thing considering you never know who did what to the system, how long it will last you or if the retailer did anything more than check if it turns on). The question remains though whether or not I should go for the Limited Edition since I know that jacks up the price but I am a damn sucker for illustrations and special boxes. Pffft, what self-respecting gamer still bugs their parents to buy them games? Ones with some form of disposable income anyway? I have not asked mine ever since I was 12 when I learned that rather than wasting my time begging, I could just do odd-jobs here and there and get it myself. Though I would like to see the scene where little Timmy asks papa Marcus to buy him Xrd. Marcus: So...why do you want this game again son? Timmy: Because there's a lady in a white dress who has boobs like mommy.
  16. December 16th is surprising. I'd have thought January would have been a better bet but this is awesome news regardless. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to get a PS4 and the game by that time. Hopefully I'll have enough saved up by then. Guess I'm starting my 2 month countdown.
  17. Been playing Minazuki for a while now. Honestly, I like that he's so simple that even a craptastic player like me can get a feel for him. He's pretty flashy, but has a very simplistic moveset that makes him much more ideal (for me) to learn the game with than Yu ever was. Admittedly I am still in the "mashy phase" but I've been slowly trying to learn from everything I've done and get rid of the habit. For instance, I was furiously (pun semi-intended) going for his BD which, as I've quickly learned, is a terrible idea. It's a decent reversal but it seems to lose to a lot of others like Yu, Akihiko and even Adachi's own BD (and a lot of others I most likely have not had used on me). It clashes with them too often which cancels it out and opening you up for damage. Still I love the character and would love to learn to use him much better. So I would humbly ask for some advice on some things: -5D/j.D/j.2D. What is the best way to utilize them and when? 5D and j.D feel more like combo filler to me while I think j.2D is best used from far away against say zoners, but would like clarification. In addition, since I know the most common follow-up to it is 236/j.236C/D what is a simple combo to go with it? Please note that I am pretty terrible at combo execution but just something to get me started would be most appreciated. -I've been doing his challenges to get the hang of the timing. So far, my favorite thing to do is something like 5AA>5B>5C>214B>4B>4B. Although that one induced a yellow beat so I should probably switch it to 214A>4A>4A instead. But from what I heard, you could technically throw in 2B and 2AB in there as well. So could you recommend where I should be using them to try and maximize damage and how tight timing is? -Blood and SP Drains are his throws but when is the best time to use them? That's it for now. Thanks a lot in advance.
  18. I dunno about anyone else here but as it stands, I need to physically and mentally force myself to hit both 6+A/B/C/D. It becomes easier if you do it slower and then speed up as you practice but geez does it ever wear out your left thumb quick. It also feels "weird" and "unnatural". Before I could do a quick 236236, let go at the last split second and press the attack button and the SP skills would come out when I wanted it to. But here, unless I am hitting the motions really hard together with 6+attack button, it won't do them. And because it feels awkward, your input speed suffers and some of the easiest Challenges start being ridiculous. Curiously though, I have little to no input problems on the stick. The double motions are pretty easy on it. Guess I'll use this game to finally get comfortable with mine. Looks like I am not the only one. It's odd though, P4A never had this problem for me. Even after I bought a new PS3 with a different Dualshock 3 controller, all the moves worked as they should. Yet suddenly I cannot do them in P4AU even though it was apparently always there? Something does not add up.
  19. I am. I have more problems with the double motions not coming out. Apparently the buffer was changed or something and my thumb is still sore from trying for 2 hours to get Minazuki's Wings of Purgatory to come out when I want. It's pretty bad.
  20. Started playing today and good grief, this ISN'T the Lizzie I fell in love with. From a single Score Attack run and some Challenges, all I can say is that nothing feels like it normally would. Everything looks and feels sluggish and downright weak. And I get that there may be some bias on my part there but I was willing to keep an open mind here. Turns out it is a failed optimism on my part. About the only part I like is how easy it is to catch the AI sometimes with Debilitate/Randomizer which is oh-so satisfying to pull off.
  21. Well got my Marie and Adachi. But I have to ask: is anyone here having problems with 236236 or 214214 motions? By Igor's elongated nasal cavity, I keep trying to do Minazuki's 236236C/D and I keep getting his teleport. It's the same story with Sho who keeps doing his rekka instead of the multi-hit SP skill. I have to input 4123641236 (or the reverse) to get any sort of results. And I KNOW for a fact that it isn't my controller since the motions work just fine on P4A.
  22. Yeesh, wish they'd hurry up with the Adachi and Marie DLC on PSN. Why is it that whenever something is supposed to be free there's plenty of little obstacles and hurdles you need to plow through to get it yet when you need to pay it's there the moment the clock turns 12:01 AM? Ah well, I've waited a month to get P4AU so a little bit more for free DLC shouldn't hurt. Not like I was planning on maining either Adachi or Marie. But I'd rather still have them to learn their basic stuff and get used to fighting them y'know?
  23. How about Makoto? Perhaps not with Particle Flare but how about Big Bang Smash? Note that I am posing this as a question as I am uncertain how good/bad BBS is at the moment. Noel's Fenrir is also a potential candidate with OD Guard Cancel.
  24. I don't think it's too terrible. Better than fighting and losing against a character (Margaret) who you have no means of accessing yourself. Besides, it's only a week more of waiting and in the meantime you can fight the NA version players to your heart's content. Not like they locked the whole Network for the NA players for that 1 week anyway.
  25. Yeah, Blazblue has a lot of problems in the story department. The characters are great for the most part and the lore that surrounds the franchise is intriguing. However, as others pointed out, the story is not well constructed. A big problem with this Zedar90 already alluded to: there is a LOT of information that is unavailable in the games and even more so for English-speaking fans. You got Light Novels, you got manga and you even got other games that connect to it and expand upon it but it is still information that will be missing if you simply play from CT>CP. Especially so for CP considering the NA version lacks the Library mode which the JPN version had in which various terms of the lore are explained. CT was a starting point. Your confusion is not unreasonable. Stuff like what the fact the whole thing is a time loop gets mentioned (I believe in Ragna's Bad End where he merges with Nu-13 and a blast obliterates him stating "Loop #724 is a failure. Beginning loop #725") but you won't know the important stuff like: -Why is this happening? -Who issued that blast? -Who is the person/entity observing these "loops" and for what purpose? -How does anything these characters do connect to the overall plot? CS is more or less the same (though I will avoid spoiling it for you). You'll be going through multiple character's perspective and some questions from the above will be explained but then even more questions will arise for you. CP attempts to correct this method by going with 3 separate story paths that ultimately converge into a single true end, and even THAT fails because even more terminology and mysteries are thrown your way. To its credit, it DOES attempt to answer some big revelations but those only make sense if if you played XBlaze or have an understanding of what went on during the Phase Shift novels. Bottom line: you need to be aware of certain aspects and terms ahead of time when getting into Blazblue story. Even I am still unsure how some terms even work or how some things function in this universe but yeah, try to get acquainted with the supplementary materials at least in some way if you can. Otherwise you'll feel like you're missing some parts of the conversation.
