[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Cross-play online as well? Good news I suppose. It might even broaden the availability of people since I assume there are some PS4 owners who didn't own a PS3 prior. -

I'd have gone with "Blah blah Death Note blah Shinigami Eye blah" considering the circumstances. Also damn does Ragna look good in a suit. I wonder if this is Mori's thing now? I'd like to see Noel in one personally if he releases another one. -
Don't those always end up as DLC later down the line anyway? Though yeah my bad, that isn't pre-order bonus (even though most will pre-order the game anyway).
-
Layman's terms? Equipped: Has long-reaching normals, arguably better meter gain and access to Calvados (laser blast of doom). Deployed: Now those swords help in controlling space, pinning the opponent don't while you try to open them up. You attack in tandem with them or out of sync to get in the oponent's face. Transhi (spinning blade overdrive) also becomes available here. Note that you also have the option of sending out 1 sword as opposed to both.
-
Yes yes Hazama, you did all of that and we all applaud you for it. But pray tell, do YOU have a swagtacular bike that you can ride on in Unlimited form? No? Well gee that's too bad. Great job SD, these have been great.
-
Adachi eh? Neat I guess. Pre-order DLC though? Eh, if I tolerated Kokonoe and Terumi, then I guess I can tolerate this. But wait, if Adachi is confirmed, does this mean one more potential character is in the works? Not giving up on P3MC until the very end Not necessarily. At the time, ATLUS region locked the game to prevent reverse-importing of the English version by the Japanese players since the release was near simultaneous and cheaper to obtain. This may or may not be an issue again.

I disagree with respects to myself. I know the extent of my ability as a player and trust me when I say that it'd take a miracle for me to be as good as some semi-average player. Let alone setting the bar to Damosu's level. Still, just because I am 99.9% likely to be stuck at scrub level, that doesn't mean anyone else is. Oh come now Strife you can't have overlooked them in the video thread http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7965-p4au-elizabeth-video-thread/page-2. I'll admit that I went a little overboard naming characters like Yu, Chie, Labrys and Kanji in my previous statement, but there is definitely videos of the others. They're even dated for you to know that it's the 1.1 version. But I will concede that it might even now be too early to draw a definitive conclusion and that I went a bit overboard beforehand. I guess it is better to wait until the game hits consoles considering they're bringing in new characters that might just shake the balance of the game quite a bit.

Wait what? No, that's not what I meant at all. I meant scrap Lizzie and only Lizzie as she is, then rebuild her like the Million Dollar Man into something much more fearsome with jetpacks, lazerbeams and kung fu grip.
-
This is all mostly observation and opinion on my part. If you disagree I would welcome your take on the matter. Anyway... I drew my conclusion from watching the match videos available and comparing them to the previous version. And in all honestly, not much has changed. Lizzie continues to struggle against pretty much everyone unless you're Damosu or in a Lizzie mirror. And when I say "not much has changed" I mean that outside of the players just now attempting to use Randomizer more frequently, the results are roughly the same. Yu, Aigis, Mitsuru, Teddie, Yosuke, MINAZUKI, Chie, Shadow Labrys can all wreck her day. Naoto, Yukiko and Yukari outzone and shut her down easily. I think even Kanji has little to fear from her. Akihiko generally comes out on top due to how easier it is for him to bust out damage, while Labrys and Sho have little footage go off of against Lizzie.

Hey more characters announced means more chances for Makoto Yuuki (P3MC) becoming playable so "hoorah". And even if it turns out not to be him well then "hoorah" anyway for more potentially fun characters to play with. It's win-win for effectively everybody...unless you hate the characters they may or may not release. Then you're just spitting salt.
-
As days pass on by, I can't help recall the claim that Lizzie ought to be scrapped and then rebuilt from the ground up. I know I was the one most excited for her changes when they were first reported, but it is as most others predicted: they're simply not enough right now. They helped, don't get me wrong. Just, not enough for it to actually matter. Which means we never actually moved from vanilla P4U2.
-
Pretty much. This is less a "build a character with finite resources" and more of a "pump'em full of Super-Soldier Serum and see what happens". By the way, I think the defense stat pulls more toward HP than lessened damage considering the HP of enemies gets pretty high later on.
-
Funny thing about Golden Arena is that, even if you hit the lv.99 cap, you can still "level up" and get stat points. This was shown in one of the lv.99 Yukiko vids. Similarly, I do not see anything that indicates a limit to your character's stats (hey there 173 LUC Lizzie). Assuming this is not patched out later, it truly does allow you to create "your version" of your favorite characters. It sorta reminds me of the absurd damage and stat caps found in Valkyrie Profile and Disgaea series, except less restrictive.

Lizzie having a Shadow version wouldn't honestly be possible. And even if it did exist, it changes virtually nothing other than make it harder for Lizzie to escape death. Think about it: she has Mind Charge. That move was designed to force her into Awakening. But since Shadow versions cannot enter Awakening, it becomes even more of a death sentence even if Shadow Lizzie could have 9500 HP. Added, it's not like she can chain multiple Ghastly Wails in a single combo to make the crazy combo damage like the others could (you'll notice they very rarely utilize SB specials during Shadow Rampage).
-
Wrong. He is clearly paying attention to them unlike Akihiko who had the ability to ignore any and all bootylicious babes (minus FemP3MC but she's not canon so she doesn't count). Ergo, Ken is not Akihiko. Too early to tell. We don't even know if Koromaru is limited to specials and supers or if he will have normals. Heck, we're not even sure how his gauge even functions. We might as well wait.
-
Honestly, when making transitions to stick (I'm still stuck at that point), just use whatever you find more comfortable. I personally set up my buttons in a: [A][C] layout for BB and [A][C][D] layout for P4A. [D] Honestly, you should never force yourself to practice something in a way you don't like. Pick what works for you.
-
Possibly. Or since we know Ken is a big Akihiko worshiper (at least, he was) they could easily make Koromaru's movements as follow-ups like Akihiko's hook and so on. It's one way to make him both simple and incorporate the 2-in-1 character feel for him. I still like this "translation" better. "Don't be fooled by his looks! He's still an asshole!" cracked me up quite a bit. The fact someone actually took the time to go and let everyone know in the comments about how this is "not a proper translation" whenever they thought otherwise was amusing. I guess Ken's got himself a secret service protection fanbase somewhere.

Nice try ATLUS and ASW, but you won't be getting me to shell out money for BGM DLC, even if I happen to like Burn My Dread. Likewise, no glasses DLC for me either. The game's perfectly functional without them and honestly, non-P4 characters look extremely weird with them on to me. That said, selling the previous Story Mode as DLC is actually a pretty merciful and even helpful in some ways. Newcomers who missed out on the last title and want to know what happened can catch up without having to shell out more money for P4A itself, while those that bought the original can easily skip the DLC.

Some things to note: -Yes that is certainly Orpheus, but it is also the one used by "Makoto" (Male P3MC). The one used by Female P3MC would have a different silhouette. For reference, here: http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110524224532/megamitensei/images/6/65/Orpheus_female_render_by_misachanchibi-d347r8n.png -Canonizing Theodore (which they did with Lizzie's lines referring to him as her brother) does not necessarily canonize F.P3MC sad to say. Personally, I would rather have M.P3MC wielding Orpheus in light of the recent movies. It just doesn't "feel" right seeing anyone else wield him. I had the same feeling with Aigis summoning him too. I imagine I'd feel the same if Theodore used him, but then again, I never played P3P so maybe I wouldn't mind...

By Nyarlathotep's tendrils, Ken looks surprisingly scary. Please let that spear attack have only max range like Amane's C-attacks. Good grief. That Mediarama thing is also pretty worrying considering I can already imagine you sending out Koro to attack while you have Ken heal himself. This makes him one of 4 characters that can heal themselves during a match (the others being Yukiko, MINAZUKI and Elizabeth), though I imagine he might have an easier time of it. Though this begs the question of how much his health sits at? Did the Famitsu article mention anything in regards to that?
-
I think it's just the "hit" effect. It kinda overlays on Koromaru's mouth, blocking out some of the details. Rest assured, he's baring his teeth quite fiercely. Someone mentioned that since Ken uses a spear, he'll have very long reach with his attacks. I like the idea though to compensate, he would need to suck at close range, requiring Koromaru to get him those hits in at that point. Ken even mentioned in P3 that this was a primary weakness for him during combat (not that you'd notice considering attack range was not something to worry about in the game) so hopefully it sticks.
-
"Find new reasons to hate him"? The funny thing about that is that people don't need to find any new reasons to hate his guts. For them, all they need to know is that his actions led to Shinjiro dying that much quicker and robbing them of a party member. You seriously can never underestimate how popular Shinjiro is to fans after all. I personally don't like Ken, chiefly because I found him useless in P3 and I really wasn't a fan of his design. They fixed the latter somewhat in P4AU and he's partnered up with Koromaru so that's 2 positives added. But I am not going to go around pissin' salt all over because he's around again. Who knows, he might even be fun...oh wait I forgot, P4AU added Rise. I'm betting people will play Rise far more than Ken, regardless of how effective she may be over him.
-
Pretty much, though I've honestly never heard her even say that voice clip line regarding Theodore in actual gameplay. By the way, regarding FeP3MC; you can't exactly expect them to make her playable either way considering 1) Lizzie has confirmed the male P3MC as canon meaning she's all the less likely to appear and 2) they haven't even made the male version playable so what chance did she have? Anyway, Ken looks, eh alright I guess. At least he's gotten more mature looking (something about his younger, P3 face really made it hard for me to look at him or take anything he said seriously). Shadow type Koromaru is awesome though. Guess I'll just have to see how he plays in the end. That "Baptism of Light and Darkness" has me intrigued at least..
-
"Ken Amade confirmed to be playable..." -Woohoo, hello new punching bag. Oh this will be so swe... "and he fights with Koromaru as one character" -Oh sonuvabitch, I don't want to beat up Koro-chan. I don't support animal abuse. Beating up on brats like Ken? Well he's had this long-time coming so that's fine. But Koromaru was awesome from start to finish. Ugh, this just plain sucks. Well played ATLUS, ASW. Well-freaking-played. Guess it's back to designating Junpei as my punching bag. In all seriousness, I am somewhat conflicted about the news. I love the fact we're getting Koromaru, but I don't like that he comes packaged with Ken of all people. Though that begs the question how their Shadow-type will play. OH GOD THE NIGHTMARE FACE!

Huh, that's an...odd thing to pull off. I mean what purpose does it serve? It doesn't affect me since 1) I unlocked Kagura by playing through the story and 2) I never liked Noel's old costume and Astral, but it is still surprising that ASW would take the DLC down for the PS3 version. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but that's the first time I've heard of DLC being removed from PSN for a specific console.
