  1. Was I the only one who got ages from the Japanese official site?
  2. Fiona is certainly above Yoriko, I'm sure most people will agree to that, so I place her in low tier rather than bottom, with the rest besides Lise being mid, and Lise being top, mostly because there's no real better way to tier this game. also yeah, pbj summed it up nicely, but I was joking about it before his explanation with the sentence I posted it in. Also, the normal clean hits are actually only moderately hard IMO and do about 50%, but yeah the super... argh. I can hit the normal one about 60% of the time or more on a good day, but I've only ever hit the super's clean hit once, and it was on training mode because that was the whole reason I was playing the game. I don't know if it's just me being retarded or if it's actually hard, though, honestly.
  3. Maori is more like Juda in HnK than Dizzy, but I suppose if we're trying to find a match for Dizzy, she's it. She's also 100 times harder than Dizzy, though. Also I don't know if anyone posted the combo DVD stuff (they probably did), but here's Fiona's. For some reason it seems to keep turning people I show it to off from the game. Oh, so pbj posted that like 3 posts above me, haha. the arcanadvd youtube profile has the whole thing, some of it is practical and some of it just looks pretty. Either way, combo at the end of the Fiona one is just made of lulz.
  4. The game IS too hard to tier for the most part. Overplayed characters are overplayed mostly because of their character (Mei-Fang has bubz, so everyone plays Mei-Fang, or Kamui is the "cool" character, so everyone wants to play the "cool" character or however you want to word it), not their strength. Lise is top, Yoriko is bottom, and it's up to one's own interpretation from there. IMO, Fiona is still worth playing, and you can certainly win if you're good. She certainly has the damage, but she can't really pressure too much. Good pokes, range, etc though. Best arcana for a character is generally determined by what a character gains from that arcana. For example, Fire is considered so good for Fiona because Fiona can abuse the hell out of unblockable charge moves in Fire with her long range 3C. I'm not entirely sure this is correct, honestly, but Fire is certainly most people's top pick for her.
  5. PM me as well, I mostly just want to make sure this little image collection I have is from that game. >>
  6. Phantom Blood, well, I didn't finish it but it was ok. Got REALLY repetitive and I actually had to go re-read part 1 to get through what I did (I was SO CLOSE to finishing it, haha), but it was ok. Ougon no Kaze is the Part 5 game. It is great. It helps to have a guide to the bonus points, though, even after re-reading the manga some of them were a little obscure. I did finish this one, but I didn't do the bonus stuff at all.
  7. There is no Jojo's fighting game on PS2, the PS2 games are entirely different. D: but I would also like to say that Ougon no Kaze was neat, and I enjoyed playing it.

    AC: Combos

Can someone actually confirm that that works? It would be pretty awesome to end a round with that, so if it works I would want to learn it.
  9. I think I haven't understood this thread for the last week or so. ... I THINK.
  10. Is sirlin heading this hypothetical rebalancing, because if so I'm happy because then if puzzle fighter is any indication Q-Bee, Sas and Zabel won't be nerfed, but pretty much everyone else will get buffs or something. I play Q-Bee, Aubath and Lilith. I love this game. Prolly like my new favorite capcom fighter.
  11. Normal or mohora? Normal doesn't have many options in general, maybe the forcebreak slide into throw might work really well in that situation. For Mohora options I'd personally just run in or IAD in after her.
  12. It's balanced enough for me to take it seriously... mostly because of all the broken, but still balanced. F-12, you have to be in game -> configuration, are you doing that? Because I've actually had people just sitting in the general menu and telling me it wouldn't work.
  13. Arcade code is: Go to Game -> Configuration Up down right left A B C D You hear a WRYYYYYY when it's complete, and you get all of the time-unlock characters. (A - C are attacks, D is stand button)
  14. Honestly I start prolly 2/3 of my matches with 5H. Hit-confirm to ice spike for the knockdown and oki, it somehow works as an anti-air, and seems to stuff a whole lot of other moves. So based on my experience, that would work. Just a suggestion.
  15. Correction, Nehle, there is no holding up. I personally input it either: [2]8462P+H just because that's the actual input, or [2]874123641236P+H
  16. Will it ever WORK online? There's so much stuff with a small window of frames in this game that I wouldn't even care if there was online.
  17. Yeah I'm an idiot, just saying "I do 866 slower" isn't enough to actually get an answer on that one. I also realized today that forcing myself to do 96 works about as fast as my 866, so I think it's just down to practice and learning timing now.
  18. IMO, they're both actually sort of balanced, except that NGBC has some REALLY shitty characters, like Yuki and Nakoruru or something, and XI has Gato being completely stupid and otherwise not TOO much wrong with it, except maybe a couple of less good characters, like Momoko. And as far as getting people to play NGBC, I think it's that NGBC is really underappreciated compared to XI. I really don't think either game is THAT bad in terms of balance, by the way. If down to D tier is remotely practical, I'm fine with that. As far as I can tell, it is in both. Look at DarkGeese's Athena and Tung in NGBC, and the character usage in SBO for XI, where some D and C tiers show up in there quite a bit.
  19. This... this actually sums it up pretty well... huh. I mean, I'd personally say it's more of a "crappy characters, characters that are slightly worse than the good ones, and the good characters" thing, but that's pretty much right.
  20. I play on the CPS3 emulator found here. No xpadder/joytokey/whatever required, it takes inputs from the joystick on its own. Also, I use the Final Burn Alpha that comes with GGPO for other games that FBA will play, since it does the same. Joytokey annoys me. Very much. Guides probably don't exist, but there's someone who made videos of every character's bread and butters and put them up on youtube. Strategy and such is mostly up to you, but those help a lot on combos. Here's a whole ton of links: Jotaro, Joseph, Abdul, Kakyoin, Polnareff, Iggy, New Kakyoin, Young Joseph/Jojo, Shadow Dio, Devo, Midler, Rubber Soul, Chaka, Khan, Anubis/Black Polnareff, Mariah, Alessi, Hol Horse and Boingo, Pet Shop, Vanilla Ice/Iced, Dio Missing normal Hol Horse and I'm pretty sure that's it. A lot of the Hol Horse and Boingo stuff applies to normal Hol Horse anyway IIRC.
  21. Ai is better than Yuki but honestly I think she's just too limited to be any good. Tetris blocks are funny though.
  22. No more broken than most games people take seriously IMO. Really, excluding one character you need to ban, how is this game less balanced than MvC2? >>
  23. For the IADs, I do them faster on 956 but I miss 956 a lot for characters who aren't Dizzy. Is my slower 866 acceptable for the ABA loops?
  24. Missing Dizzy's IK, I think. You're also missing Sol's permanent dragon install, but oddly the rest of the secret moves are in there. And those were the only two where I really wanted to know the frames... >>
  25. I honestly think that Dizzy's IK might be fun to sometimes throw as oki for lulz but I need to go whiff it and see if it gets rid of my tension bar, because even if it's for the lulz, losing tension bar is not good.
