Thanks to everyone for coming out to FFIII, it was a big success! A HUGE thanks to everyone who ran tournaments (Humbag, Marcus, Syxx, Frankie). Without you guys I wouldnt be able to pull this event off. Thanks a million for your hard work. Also thanks to Amar and the Nickel City staff. The venue went really well for us with no problems. Im glad everyone could come out and play soem games. Great to see everyone. Sorry if people wanted to talk to me more but I was running around a lot trying to take care of things so I was pretty busy. If anyone has any questions for me feel free to send me a PM. I have the full GG results on my laptop but im on my work computer right now. I will post full GGXX results when I get home in a few hours. Next year I will announce the event much earlier so that we have more time to prepare. It was a great turnout though regardless with something like 130 people in attendance. Also I think Ukyo recorded some GG matches on his iPhone so hopefully he will upload those. Thanks again everyone!

If you have consoles and games that we will be running for the tournament official games, please bring those. People who come to watch still have to pay the venue fee since they still have access to casuals and also Nickel City staff will be collecting at the door.

Yes, it was originally going to be at Galloping Ghost but they just dont have a large enough party room and Nickels has always been a reliable venue and its more convenient so were gonna have it there. Arcade tournaments are always good in their own right (I live in Japan, so I play on arcade all the time), but for a tournament this size, running it on arcade would just take too long because we wouldnt have enough setups. One machine is not going to be enough per game. Console just makes more sense, and lots of people use pad. Console has been the standard in the US for years now. Now, if you want to bring your boards and get some stuff hooked up at Nickel City for casuals, I could ask the owner if he would be ok with throwing some games in but we probably wont need it. If interest for it exists and you want to bring it I will ask.

I made a Frosty Faustings AV. Its nothing special but its better than nothing. (This is the first animated gif Ive ever made lol) Please feel free to use it if you want to help promote the tournament, or better yet, please make your own (better) FFIII avatars! Jimmy, this is actually the first year we have had it at Nickel City. The other 2 years it was at a different venue. And yes, There will be casuals going on so dont worry. Feel free to do money matches too Also, I added an early pre reg list to the first post. I know for a fact tons more people are coming that didnt pre reg yet so keep them coming! This has pontial to be a very big tournament!

if you want to just come and play casuals then it would be the 10 dollar venue fee.

Well everyone, I have good news! The venue is changed. The tournament will now be at Nickel City! GGA is probably a nice place and all, but the party room there is just too small. With nickel City we can use their whole party room and everyone gets access to the arcade area as well so there will be much more space. And as a result of this, I will be adding more official games. As of now on the polls, the highiest ranked game is acutally KOF. I didnt realize KOF was so big but if everyone wants it, we will be having a KOF tournament. I just hope people can bring the game cuz I dont even own it. 2 next highest games are BB and Melty. I will ad both of those too, so we will have 5 official games and as in previous years, if theres space and time, people can run side tournaments as well. Is that incentive enough for you all to come now? The first post has been updated with the new information. Please pre register for the new games as well by posting in the thread. Would anyone like to help run these newly added games? As you all probably know, closest hotel is Red Roof Inn right accross the street. I added the info in the first post.

Wow airfare to Chicago is only 200 dollars? Thats dirt cheap. EVERYONE should be coming to this. If SuperFX and Hellmonkey can try to be on the same flight or on flights that arrive close together maybe I can pick you both up at the same time

Expeted turnout? Hard to say. I guess thats all up to you guys. Last weekend NEC had over 50 GG players. If the GG players want to make this big thats up to them. All I did was put the wheel in motion. At the very least, I can tell you that there are a lot of Chicago players who have actually been playing quite regularly again (both old and new blood) Cue - You better come! We got lots of games to play and things to consume.

thats easy dude, I never said I was going to sleep and im getting dropped off at the airport. Infact, my very plan is to get fucked up with all of you so I can get on the plane wasted and pass out for the next 12 hours! Please help me have a nice wasted flight back to Japan.
