  1. The Mikado GG tournys are on Tuesday unless they have more than one per week cuz I went to the Tuesday one while I was there. Matt, that time frame is fine. let me know when you book your flight and stuff
  2. yea Matt would probly know better than me since he actually lived in Tokyo all the time where as I only live there on weekends lol
  3. blog is updated! I also uploaded a ton of pictures from the trip, but I should have more coming eventually. These are all the ones I took but there are some I wanna get from other people and add them too. This blog update is very long, so I only did part 1 today. I will post part 2 tomorrow, so go ahead and read part 1 for now, which covers G3 and up to the point where we get on the bus to leave for Osaka. BTW, I do not have full results for G3, and I cant find them on the site, if anyone has seen the full results or any vids (they were taping everything) please post a link. RTL, I really dont know cuz I am hardly around on weekdays since Tokyo is very far from me, but I saw some of those guys playing like at least 3 of the days in Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue during the time I was in Tokyo before we left for Osaka. also Matt, now that SBO quals schedule has been released, we can talk about when you wanna come visit cuz I have a better idea of whats going on EDIT: was at work earlier so I didnt wanna check but I just checked and theres a bunch of G3 vids on Niconico already EDIT 2: Upon further inspection, those are old...
  4. wow so there IS a European GG spot this year? Does that mean there is a US spot too? Just curious when and where it is. I wouldnt really be able to go to them anyway but I was under the impression there was no foreign spots so I just want to get my information straight. Sorry to hear this thing is ending up so difficult for everyone. I hope its huge and legit and lots of teams get to try out for it.
  5. When I said theres no international spots I was refering to the catagory B games. Im pretty sure there are none for those, but I could be wrong.
  6. oh shit, happy birthday!

  7. so the official quals schedule is now up on tougeki.com... im glad to see that even though the category B games will only be getting 16 spots, each block will have way more preliminaries, so in a sense, the tournament isn't even getting much smaller, its just that less of it will take place on the final day. Some blocks have as many as 6 to 8 preliminary spots, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the block finals. All block finals used to work round robin style, but with that many teams, I dont imagine they would have time for something like that. Anyone have any more specific insight on how they will plan to play out the block finals? I checked on the site but didnt notice anything about it. Did I miss something? In any case, I am pretty hype about going through quals again this year. Is anyone gonna come travel to Japan to try and qualify now that theres no international spots?
  8. lots of good Japanese players can use multiple characters well
  9. oh yea, pics are up from last weekend
  10. thats very possible
  11. oh then its probably not n-otoko. I know what he looks like so I can easily confirm it if I see him playing Testament, but its probly not him. But yea, I noticed 0 was playing as Chipp too. Kinda odd, maybe he changed mains.
  12. Oh and regarding G3 Johnny-o cup, if anyone wants to see the brackets and schedule its up here http://game2d.web.fc2.com/ggxx/ (click on the 5th link from the top to see the brackets and schedule) for those who cant read Japanese on Saturday, there will be the singles tournament first, the brackets are already up and determined. This is not an open tournament and participants are already determined by the ranbats that were held (that I completely missed) After that will be the 5 on 5 team tournament which also had pre determined teams finally will be the classic 23 on 23 all events on Saturday I will not be able to participate in but I will go watch and play casuals As for Sunday First theres a ladies tournament (i wont play in that of course) then there is a random 5 on 5 team tournament which I am pretty sure anyone can enter so I will enter that last is the Accident Core tournament where the damage setting is set to double damage. I will enter this too should be fun also random question, if you look at the team tournament brackets, it shows a player named N.O is signed up as Testament. Im not sure if this is the same N.O who would usually have his name as N-男, but if it is the same guy, it certainly would be odd that he would change characters after winning SBO twice in a row with Venom. Thoughts?
  13. sometimes when 2 top players or guys that are friends are there playing eachother, they dont even stand up after losing cuz they wanna play a long set. Sometimes they might stand up but will sorta like guard the seat and sit down right away too. Thats pretty much what Sadou and Isa were doing last week. It sucks cuz sometimes I wanna jump in but I dont really get a chance. But it doesnt happen that often though. I never really see anyone say or do anything about it. Its probably considered rude but most Japanese people wont bother to call them out on it. I dont care that much really.
  14. well as of now, Mikado has 9 AC cabs. Usually if someone is waiting by a cab to play and you get up, they get on and they play. in the instances where I play one player multiple times in a row, usually it means no one is waiting to play on my specific cab and there are enough other cabs for people to play on. I always do get up and stand for a few seconds after losing. if no one else gets on right away or is standing right by the cab I just got up from, I will go back on. maybe there are times if I was to wait for like a few minutes, someone else might jump on, but if no one is directly waiting to play behind me and there are plenty of other cabs with comp for them to play on, i dont wait around too long to get back on. There are plenty of times though when I wanted to rematch someone but another guy would get on. usually if thats the case, if I really want the rematch i just wait till their match is over and hope the guy who got on after me loses. otherwise I might try to beat the guy who beat the guy who beat me in the first place for revenge for beating him which prevented me from my rematch, in hopes that maybe the original guy will get back on (awsome sentence!). got it?
  15. frc, yes they will probably film it
  16. blog updated I took pictures too, ill post again when they are uploaded
  17. its hard to give exact numbers of how many players play each game, but both games get played and there certainly isnt any shortage of GG comp. Mikado has 9 GG cabs now and they were all full this weekend
  18. they will, ive already asked a lot of top players and they say they plan to enter again
  19. man, I dont even remember. He told me this like well over a year ago or more. I havnt even seen him since last years SBO qual season but if I had to guess I would say hes a scientist of jacking people's turn to play next at the arcade
  20. glad to hear that the GG tournament was hype! Keep it up and dont let the US scene die. Congrats to Jan for winning it all. btw, what happened to midwest/west coast/latif? Didnt enter? how many entrants?
  21. Baiken is not necessarily Faust's hardest matchup as far as official ranking/whatever goes. According to Maruken, the matchup is 6/4 Baiken. I asked him. However, its just my PERSONAL hardest matchup because the way I play usually involves trying to lock people down with as much garbage and pokes as possible combined with intuitive zoning, but since Baiken has her instant counters anytime you hit her with anything that is blocked, it completely changes the way I have to play compared to most matchups. Thats also sorta the reason why I always hated May, because she can just jump out of almost anything and the way she moves and with her jump combined with hit box, lots of my stuff always whiffs. This is a similar problem but much different in many ways. In any case, I feel better about it now and I want to play the matchup more this weekend. Hopefully some good Baikens will be at Mikado. I know nothing about Maruken being an actual teacher, I didnt ask him his occupation lol. But yea Gin the Slayer is infact a scientist for real haha Matt, the Kebab thing is kinda a collective influence, everyone is just fiending for them lately, and at least they are better and probably healthier than McDonalds all the time :P
  22. cool pictures are up
  23. blog updated no illness this time around! I took a lot of pictures this time. Ive been lazy with posting pictures lately so I will upload a whole bunch of pictures, some from other weeks, later tonight.
