[CP] Azrael - Gameplay Discussion (Pre-Console Release)
LegendaryRath replied to zeth07's topic in Archive
I don't care what anyone thinks of my character preferences. He's badass, that's all I need. It's like how my good friend only plays characters that he says are "beautiful men"... That's why he's going to play Amane. -
[P4A] Kanji Tatsumi Combo Thread "I am not done beating you yet!"

I've been using the second one you posted for a while. It's great and pretty easy to confirm into. -

^ Very well made! Some very creative stuff there -
You're not supposed to "zone" kanji with liz. He wants you to be in hugging distance (yes, that close) or full screen. Everything between those in absolutely terrible. Stay that distance that all of Liz's normals happen to reach, just like mitsuru 5A range or Yu 5B range. I have no choice but to keep getting pushed back. And once I reach the corner, I've lost. Also, use excessive amounts of 2B. If Im forced to block it then you can do 2B > j.B > stuff to put me back to square one. If you ever think I'll grab on your wakeup, don't jump, use 2B instead for a free combo. Think I'll grab after a tick setup? 2B. See me batman diving like a moron? 2B. Even if I land a fatal counter j.C on you, if you used 2B then I can't combo afterwards because you technically would have been in the air. it's so frustrating. I'll always stand by my opinion that Kanji is the worst character in this game, but only if someone knows the matchup, or at least has the patience to play super lame. Against anyone else, he's kind of broken. EDIT: Also, regarding that midscreen range like with mitsuru's 5A or Yu's 5B. It's so much better for liz (In fact this applies to everything about the matchup) because I can't use DP at all. against Yu or Mitsuru I can yomi it and at least paralyze them (but still have to contend with their pokes), but since Liz's normals like 5B, j.B, and her persona attacks can't be shocked, it's awful. I'm not sure what you meant by how he recovers quickly that you can't punish the DP. Every Liz I've fought recently has destroyed me whenever I DP. I just don't do it anymore against her.

I agree that Liz is pretty terrible, unless you put a TON of effort into her. However, I will say that I know a few people that make her look absolutely broken. Some people know my matchups so well, that they make it look like it isn't in Mitsuru's favor. But to put it bluntly, 99% of the people who play her will have an unbelievably hard time getting as much out of her as you could with other characters. She's bad, unless you're just a ridiculously good player. If that's the case, then you should play Aigis instead. It would be a disservice for anyone to be that talented and not play an S tier who rewards you as much as you put in. Ted, why are you mad at the Kanji - Liz Matchup? I'm supposed to be the salty one :P

What's the point of even using 6D now? Everything 6D can do 5D can do better... Now I feel like singing.
-
I've also seen forward grab > 6A > (they recover here) > Forward grab as a throw setup. I'll probably go for 3c as well
-
So what you're saying... is to get hit by 5A? Seriously, this guy is a threat to everyone around him.

Oh my lord.... Being able to convert j.5C into a high damage combo really does show how ridiculous OD will be. If only that new challenger hadn't appeared!

It's awesome to know that Phalanx can combo, besides just immediately doing BHS. That damage was pretty awesome too! -

I meant to get a combo afterwards. -

It would be cool if OD BHS could be a good punish. Speculation at this point. -

I've spent way too much time watching, re-watching, and just thinking about those new combo videos, specifically the 2 bnb oriented ones. I can feel pretty secure saying that Valiant and Hornet aren't going to be as dominant in our combos, at least not as much as we originally anticipated. Even when you consider the advantage of easy corner carry with Valiant, we can get from one wall to the other with a LOT of these other combos, usually earning more damage. In many cases, these combos can apply both weakpoints as well, for the relatively small price of just 25 or 50 meter. One thing that I'm really curious of, is how much damage and corner carry we can squeeze out of weaker confirms like 5A. I'm doubtful that we will be able to get both weakpoints in many situations off something like that, even with meter (I'm ignoring scud punishment for the moment). At least, I don't think it will be as easy. It's just one more thing I want to explore fully once the console release comes out. We already have plenty of proof that we can EASILY apply the upper and lower WP in many situation off something like 5B or any confirm where a WP was already applied. If stuff like we saw in those bnb vids becomes more prevalent (primarily the first of the two, with the midscreen combos) then we might start seeing a lot more lower WPs in matches. Just from watching the combos that end in TCL > 3C. EDIT: And of course, I didn't mention difficulty being a factor. Some of this stuff looks like it could end up being incredibly hard to make use of at first. Especially when you consider the use of links and IADs, this stuff could end up being almost impractical in a real match. But then again, I see plenty of people never drop stuff with Hakumen (which these combos remind me of, Ex Haku anyway) so it might not be too tough with the right amount of practice.
