  1. Well, not only that but Houtenjin is always optimal as the second hit in a combo. Adding any other hits before it just makes it less and less optimal (except Jakou)
  2. Raw, you know what I'm talking about. The standard confirm > 3C > they burst cuz they want to juke your Houtenjin like they always do. So in order to avoid that I go for a chicken block burst bait instead of 3C hoping I'll get the-- GOLD BURST I'M R DED AHHHHHHH WHAT IS THIS LAGGY SHIT THIS GAME IS DUMB GONNA GO POST MEAN MESSAGES ON DL NOW
  3. You can easily react to OD though. The problem I have with it is that you can't jump cancel Hazama's 3C. So if I wanna Burst bait I have to do it off of 5B or 5C (meterless, obviously) but sometimes they simply just recover from the stun so fast that they get a Gold burst on accident and kill me. And were you on BB lime? I can never tell with your ninja-online-status.
  4. Shoutouts to Lunar for turning us into growtchy old men.
  5. Everyone is laggy tonight. All my speeds are above normal too... Shoutouts to Gold Bursts giving people wins on accident. So glad they won't exist in CP. Shoutouts to Tager 6A > 360B for doing everything, and being like 10x scarier in netplay. Shoutouts to netplay tonight, just because.
  6. No, I haven't. I don't keep up with anything SF/Marvel, in fact I make a deliberate point of not caring about them. I couldn't enjoy those fighters if you paid me. It's thanks to them that I didn't play GG and didn't have an interest in BB for a while. I thought they would be similar to them. I'm glad I ended up buying CT on a whim thinking that maybe it could change my mind. It doesn't surprise me that those games have something like that in them though.
  7. My room is up. Anyone welcome. I meant that figuratively.
  8. Anyone still on? I'm done with my homework and want to blast the memories of it out of my head with CSE netplay.
  9. There is no off-topic in this thread anymore. I'm not blaming anyone, especially seeing as I'm guilty of it just as much, because it's just human nature. But, more to the point, this thread has long since outlived its purpose. It was originally about a trailer being released. I personally think we should get a new thread for "GGXrd Hype/General Discussion" seeing as we finally have a new GG to get hype about. I'm not trying to snub anyone here, I'm just expressing my view that the community definitely seems to have an appetite to discuss these things, so they should get a thread to discuss it in without feeling "off-topic."
  10. I suppose I should have worded it better. I meant rewarding players beyond the obvious reward of 1) meter 2) putting them in pressure and 3) potential + on certain attacks. Put it this way: you do something that completely confuses your opponent. You outwit him and land a hit immediately do a combo and it's all good. But if you had poked him a couple of times first, then done it, you would've gotten more damage. That just seems weird to me. It's like you're encouraged to hit your opponent's guard rather than just hit your opponent. I'm just a fighter who prefers endless mind games and mix-ups as opposed to endless block strings/oki. It could also simply be true that I think the Guard Bar is more relevant than it actually is to normal play. Can you give me an example on that? I've never heard of that before. Also, CT was imbalanced as hell and the Guard Libra was a hilariously bad idea. "I smacked your guard a bunch of times! Therefore my guard is better!"
  11. Well, +R Johnny does 6P > High coin > f.S which is a 1F link I believe. It sure as hell feels like one. Thankfully you can just do 5K if you're feeling like wussing out. Air Overdrive > dash > c.S is pretty fucking tight too. 5K > c.S > 5H > Killer Joker Travel > Killer Joker is pretty hard as well. Regardless, you should be playing Johnny anyway because Johnny is the coolest GG character.
  12. It's just a matter of preference. In GG you sacrifice your meter (in essence, your offensive capabilities) to be able to escape bad situations. In BB you have powerful, but limited defensive options that your opponent can begin to exploit if you rely on them too much. (Barrier Gauge/Guard Crush). I just prefer it when a FG makes a distinction between defensive an offensive options. In BB Barrier Block and Rapid Cancel draw upon two separate resources, in GG they both rely on Tension. I really love the extra layer of mind games that comes from having only 1 guard bevel left in BB.
  13. I still just strikes me as a silly system. Why should you get any reward for failing to hit the opponent at all? I just personally prefer that people who are excellent blockers should get rewarded for blocking an entire huge sequence of pressure. Instead it seems like they just get put at a larger risk if they get hit.
  14. Throwing out a whole bunch of mids while you've got them locked doesn't achieve anything, but it does increase the Guard Gauge. The more unnecessary hits, the better.
  15. BB taught me to punch the ceiling when my alarm goes off.
  16. My opinion of the Guard Bar has always been "its a more gimmicky way of implementing damage proration." I personally feel it rewards mindless pressure a bit too much.
  17. After watching that video I just barely realized they changed 2C. Does anyone know how +/- it is on block now? (after the final hit, obviously)
  18. We had a room, it's over now though. I believe you weren't invited.
  19. Because 3C has a 14 startup. 14-4 (GF +) equates to 10. Haku-men 2D has a 1F startup and 8 active frames, so 9. You do 5D it wouldn't catch it. You do 2D I get a CH. You do 5A and you miss. 2A would've gotten me though. I'm not sure if you can jump out of the 3C on GF. My guess is you could
  20. The insane bit is that RC doesn't stop my momentum, so I can just as easily do j2C > RC > land and do w/e the fuck I want Also.
  21. Also, j2C > RC > j2C > etc. is way too fucking incredible of a bevel breaking strategy. I wish that one time I did it I hadn't panicked and messed up my chance for a 720. I think my combo killed you anyway though.
  22. Well I've fought you so many times that I practically have all your stuff memorized by heart, I'm sure you could say the same about the reverse. It's just that we both know each other's styles so well the Yomi "stack" gets so ridiculous we sometimes end up doing the most retarded shit. I'm sure even when I go to another character I end up playing in very similar fashions. I'd love to hear the reaction from an outsider watching our matches.
  23. Everytime I play on Tager and run into difficulties, if I switch to Hazama I suddenly rape and have no problems at all. It makes me feel like it has less to do with my skill and more to Hazama just being way too strong. It's like a "if I can't win with this guy, I'll just pick the OP character so I can get wins" kind of feeling. Also, shoutouts to Tager jB for being way better than everyone thinks it is, especially Arakune.
  24. I started getting sledge on 360s. I stopped playing Tager because it honestly stops being fun when the opponent refuses to ever play the game with you. Even when I'm winning with him it just isn't fun because none of the usual gameplay aspects are present. Makes me feel like practicing all my setups and shit is just pointless. p.s. This is the second time I really felt like my 214 directionals are failing me. I probably need a new stick soon.
  25. It's called simply not giving a fuck about the game because the game doesn't give a fuck either. ggs
