Thanks Zeero! Yay, 12 PM pool. Pre-emptive shoutouts to the "Being well rested and had plenty of times to push buttons before hand" passive buff I'll have! Also, tough luck Bill. That's a pretty rough first match you've got there. Do your best! -

Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters

Challenge accepted. SG is tricky though because I don't think they have Encore at Foonzo. How about BB 2 out of 3 with mains, BB 2 out of 3 with subs and if we need a tiebreaker GG 2 out of 3? Also, just to be clear, these MMs don't have to involve me. You can challenge anyone you want. -

Happy Canada/Moving Day everyone! Putting an end to my Evo grind by starting to come to Foonzo regularly again, starting this Thursday. Since it's the last Thursday before Evo, I thought I'd do something special if people are interested. Any pair(s) of people interested in dueling to the death this Thursday for $20 out of my wallet? I'll leave the format and rules of engagement to the people dueling. -

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
I haven't heard anything official on their end but I'm pretty sure it comes down to that it's probably cheaper for ASW to have Strangely Compelling localize and them implement the localizations than to have Aksys localize it. It's more or less what these things usually come down to. -
Doing the rhythm game online will probably be just like doing a combo with tight timing online. So, I don't really see doing the rhythm game online being too much of an issue since chances are if you're playing in a connection where you can't do the rhythm game, you're probably also not able to do your trickier combos and play at your best to begin with. It was described as a command grab when it was first shown on the UltraChen show but wouldn't hurt to test it when it releases to see which one it is. There might also be special rules in place for it like Air Unblockables, where it won't be unblockable if the opponent is already in blockstun. Day 1 Training mode will reveal all the secrets ^,^

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Forgot to post this earlier but 2 things worth noting came up in the recent explosion of twitter activity by Aksys. 1. ASW is doing the localization themselves. [insert unenthusiastic screams of joy here] 2. The demo at Anime Expo will indeed only be on PS4 controller so be sure to brush up on your pad execution before going guys! -
I don't think it'll see much use in tournaments but not because of the rhythm game. Currently, I think it might overall be better to use that meter on her Ourouboros like super, especially if it has start up invincibility on it. The range on the grab might also leave much to be desired in the end. It also depends on how good her other reversal options are. Need to experiment with her Furious Action and that "No Touching!" special as well. That said, if I see an opportunity to make people watch me play a rhythm game and I think it's a good move to make, I'm going for it! XD
-
Thanks Flux. That Rise footage was neat. That move where she sends out her speaker satellites low to the ground, looks pretty good. It keeps the enemy in hitstun long enough to follow up with a combo from midrange. Maybe even start a blockstring. Can't throw it out carelessly though since it's easy to jump over. However, proper conditioning with the threat of her musical notes and the green heart rate laser her Persona can fire horizontally might help here. Also for her orbital bombardment move, it seems to cover a nice area but there's a noteworthy delay between firing the lasers up into the sky and them coming back down again. Might be neat for oki if we can set it up right. Maybe we might be able to fit it into corner combos too. Rise's playstyle is definitely starting to shape up nicely in my mind. Now I'm super sad there's a 1 month delay between JP and US release. I wanted to do some Day 1 Rise experiementing ;.;
-
Oh, okay. I see what you are talking about now. It's not that they're doing something to bring themselves back down to the ground. It's just that the first move "Flash Fang" is only a move that makes Sho rush forward and do an upward slash. Only Soaring Fang will make both Sho and his opponent launch up into the air. And yup, that's High Speed Movement. Though, I wouldn't say the SB version gives him special fast fall options. It just makes the move overall faster and gives it some invincibility.
-
1.It's hard to tell without him saying it outright. But if I had to guess, he's showing that if you air turn just before you do high speed movement (His "fast fall"), you'll end up on the same side of the opponent instead of crossing up. This is interesting (read: dirty) because if you do a IAD to keep you low to the ground like he did in the video and use the SB High Speed Movement like he did, which only has 6 frames of landing recovery according to the wiki, then you end up with a very quick left/right mixup depending on if you air turn or not. And of course, there's the option to destruction fang or use an air normal instead of using High Speed Movement, making you worry about up and down as well. Hard to tell how practical it'll be without hand-ons experience, at least for me anyway. More experienced/skilled players might be able to tell. Also, to answer your question, Sho's fast fall or really just his crossup move in general is his High Speed Movement special and can be done with a simple 236C/D/CD 2. The general consensus on High Speed Movement is that it's a very scary addition to Sho's pressure when used right by a skilled player. 3. Not sure what you're trying to say with the second part but for his Rekkas, you can see the inputs on his wiki page. Flash Fang is 236A/B/AB, Soaring Fang is 214A/B/AB and Destruction Fang is j236A/B/AB

Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
Definitely seems to be her force function. A GRD square got used up when she used it. Not quite sure how it's useful in aerial combos though, maybe because it functions like a short hop or because it can cancel from certain things? Going to need to do some experimenting with that one. And yeah, it's a special like Sourenga said. Looks pretty useful. It's comes out at just the right angle to control a good amount of space in front of her.
