Alright here are some of the notes I have on this matchup: 1.) Use Asteroid Vision in blockstrings to avoid 360s - You don't really have any safe ways to end blockstrings vs Tager. Lots of your attacks have holes in between them or leave you sitting next to Tager while being slightly negative. C Asteroid Vision into Lightning Arrow or j.C can work here (the j.C can also cross Tager up). After the Tager starts to expect j.C or LA, then you can frame trap with Lunatic Upper to catch his 2C/Collider attempts. 2.) Watch out for Tager's approaches - If you're trying to space him out and whiff punish, aggressive Tagers have a few ways to try and get in on you. If they catch you off guard with one of these, you're gonna have a bad time. 1. Superjump > j.C > j.B: A simple anti air 6A will beat this approach if your timing's right, but you have to watch out because... 2. Superjump > j.C > j.2C: Tager can bait anti airs with this move and go into a pretty damaging combo + Magnetism. Using 9 > j.B as an anti air can beat approach 1 and 2, but the timing is tougher. 3. Sledge Hammer: If you block Sledge, Tager will either try to start pressure with 5A/360 or cancel into the followup to frametrap you. You can make Sledge miss and then punish or you can counterpoke him first (be careful not to get counter hit though lol). 4. 2D: It's the headbutt charge move. You can jump over this and j.C him if you react fast enough. However, if you normal block this move Tager has the frame advantage, so trying to instinctively mash 2A will just make you eat a 3k combo. 3.) Don't get Magnetized - Obvious Tager advice here, but try not to get Magnetized. Neutral and defense become way harder when magnetized. Always keep an eye on Tager's Spark Bolt meter when in neutral. I haven't tested out Keech's advice yet, but you can also try to jump over Sparkbolt if you think it's coming. 4.) Risky advice here but...3C can beat some of Tager's pokes (especially if you are magnetized). Try to use proper yomi when doing this though because getting CH by Tager can hurt.

I disagree fellow Makotos. Those matches are the best because I get to use all of my resets. You can't tech a grab that happened 5 seconds ago.

[CP1.1] Makoto Nanaya's Gameplay Discussion - When's 2.0?
Dark Ranger88 replied to HiagoX's topic in Makoto Nanaya
Taunt combos anyone? Doing the same combos over and over again gets boring. And even landing Astrals can become routine (since Mak can Astral after almost anything lol). So I came up with a few ways to work taunts into existing combos without making it drop. Here goes: 1.) 5B > 6C > 214A~C > 236D > RC > Taunt > 5B > 6A > 2D > 2C etc....During the standard corner combo you can add a taunt after Shooting Star if you've got 50 heat. 2.) CT (Guard Crush) > CT > Taunt > 214A~C > 236D etc...Requires 50 heat. If you guard crush someone in the corner you can make them look pretty bad. 3.) *At the end of a Corner Combo* j.D > 66 > 5D > RC > 66 > Taunt > 236236D....Uses 100 heat. Do this if you don't want to Astral or it's round one lol. Let it also be noted that these should still do around 4k apiece, so you're not sacrificing that much damage for style. If you guys have some taunt combos or just flashy stuff feel free to share. -
GGs to Azure Rage, Tectal, Pain, Mex Chupacabra, PJS room, and a ton of randoms. I finally got some hate mail (not talking about yours Azure Rage). Got hatemail for my day 3 Bullet...looks like grapplers are the go to conduit for hatemail. I've been missing out man. I wonder if learning a zoner would also grant me tons of hatemail?

They need to make Lander Blow be 4/6D instead of only coming after Lunatic Upper. Every character who's drives are just another set of attacks has some type of 4 or 6 D attack except for Makoto and Amane. Oh and give us initial dash speed back please Arc...or at least make us faster than Bang (who carries a giant metal nail on his back ffs). -
Coulda fooled me :D

So I've been playing online...

Another thing about CTs that I like is that most players don't even use them. I seriously don't even know what 70% of the cast's CTs look like because I've never seen anyone do them in a match. Does anyone know what Azrael's CT looks like? I've heard rumors that it doesn't even exist. This makes them even better for mixup because the person you're fighting probably won't be expecting it the first time you do it. They'll be watching your blockstring and be thinking, "Alright, 2A > 2A > 5B > 2B > W-wait what's this move??? Is that his Crush Trig- DAMMIT IT WAS THE CRUSH TRIGGER AND I DIDN'T BARRIER IN TIME!" Edit: And one more thing...Why can you charge crush triggers? It doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all. Izayoi's becomes a true unblockable, but the rest of the cast...??? Does it do more damage or something. It just seems absolutely useless except to get you mashed out. -

Yo 3C under Tager's 5D/6A/5C/(and I think Sledge too???) all day (You used to be able to 3C under SparkBolt, which now gets me killed when I do it without thinking...) 3C under Jin's D DP followup after you block it. Also 3C on Jin's wakeup when he has 50 heat beats C DP, D DP, and Yukikaze (loses to everything else though lol) 3C under Tsubaki's match start 22B. (Then block her 3C attempt at next round start). But would it kill them to make j.2C plus on block again? (Really....that move is useless outside of gimmicks) -

j.2C is literally useless outside of using it as a risky ass anti-air bait...sigh...why make a character that has useless moves??? I would say 2C as well, but at least that's used in combos. -
Cool I can do that. Do you want me to make a new Challonge for this one, or do you already have one made that I could update? You're still taking entrants from Dustloop, Youtube, and Gamefaqs correct? (Are there any other places where people can register?) Would the twitch chat work best for everyone to be alerted on their matches? (It seemed to work fairly well last time; the problem was the people that just didn't show up on time for whatever reason.) If we're going to use the twitch chat for communication, I suggest you update the original posts letting everyone know that being in the twitch chat is important. Lol I also hope that people check their time zones meaning: 8:00PM Eastern 7:00PM Central 6:00PM Mountain 5:00PM Pacific

I'm still mad that they took away 5B jump cancel while significantly increasing barrier pushback. Our only JCable normal has puny range and whiffs after everything if the opponent is holding barrier. Plus 5B > JC > Stuff made it much easier to get into some good mixups. And we can't really use Asteroid Vision as a pseudo jump cancel because you just fly over the opponent and whiff... -
GGs Bolt of Shadow. I always marvel at people with good defense. I also liked the way you used 623B. *Sigh* neutral vs Jin is still question marks on my end. I think it was all the ice blades I kept running into lol. It's like Jin has so many different styles that he can use in neutral that it's hard to pin down exactly what he's going to do. He can out-space Makoto and zone her out, then when you start expecting that, he rushes you down. Oh and Bolt I wasn't trying to style when I went for double Particle Flare; in case you were wondering. The only time I go for that is when I don't think one PF will kill and I happen to have the meter.
-
Getting on now Bolt if you're still around. I'll send a friend request.
-
Oh yeah. I have some stuff to do during the day but I might be on later.

GGs to all the trounament peeps. Lol and sorry to all the people who sent me invites while my console was sitting at the main menu (because I was watching the tournament stream).

That's so wrong. We should be doing so much more damage considering we have meh neutral, mixup and defense. Drives and 2C should at least have 95 to 100 P1 because you have get read pretty hard to be hit by one of those. Also, having at least 1 L starter would be nice... Does anyone even have an L starter? -

How will you communicate with the entrants? Is it through PSN or do I need to have my laptop with me to know who my next opponent is? (Like twitch chat or something?) Edit: Also Crap I had you in the first round Musou. -

More about the BHS unblockable ... Some Azraels will combo into Scud Punishment at the very end of a combo, then try to reset you with BHS. This is a VERY difficult setup to counter for various reasons: 1.) Scud Punishment leaves you in a stagger state without knocking you down, meaning you have no invincibility when you tech and you can't roll / delay tech. 2.) BHS hits on the first frame after you recover from stagger, meaning you can't jump and have a very tiny input window to do reversals. 3.) Getting Blue Beat by BHS still adds on a ton of minimum damage. 4.) BHS seems to freeze your inputs. Preemptively inputing Corona Upper or Particle Flare during BHS's superflash does absolutely nothing. You'll just tech and get hit by BHS. You have to activate Corona or PF on the EXACT frame that BHS would hit you or they won't come out. One strange thing is that OD WILL activate if triggered during BHS's superflash. The only surefire way to beat this setup, I've found, is to: Hold A during Scud Punishment so that you tech at the first available moment (You should see your tech flash right before he goes into BHS) > Activate OD at any point during his windup / superflash > Go into unburstable OD punish combo of your choice TLDR; Save your burst if you know the Azrael player likes to do this setup, Then OD into kill combo. Also if anyone knows why OD activates but nothing else does that'd be interesting to know.

There had better be some secret buff that they just haven't discovered yet. Plus I never really backdash anyways...poor Omnix.
