  1. Trust me, Dangief's Zappa is not what is used to be. And Kenji's is far far better than mine these days especially. Don't be fooled by mod-status.
  2. Good stuff. Glad to hear that people are spreading the Zappa Love. I played Kenji's Zappa once. Didn't even know what was happening before I lost. =)
  3. Get ghosts, repeat MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA along with him.
  4. In all seriousness that really is not a practical combo at all. You will NEVER hit a really good opponent with close Slash. EVER. Sweep into summon is the way to go, that's why I use (2P), 2K, 2D xx Centipedes. 2P is your fastest normal. It is a good combo starter.
  5. Well, new Raoh can do OK off the corner throw because Edguy(RC) jS jHS Edguy still oes a butt-ton of damage. Do Dizzy players these days use Necro's Anger? I thought that super was worthless.... Though if you're getting hit by it durning Darkness Anthem (extension), remember NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO THROW IT. You recover so fast if you don't launch that move. If you're getting hit out of extension, don't do extension. That's about all the mixup you have. But yeah, if you want to play Zappa you have to get over the fact that Raoh is NOT an instant win, or even an advantage sometimes. He is a great tool to have (cause of damage) but you aren't going to win just because you're all blue and lightningy. And I played Zangief before Guilty Gear existed.
  6. And there is how to play Raoh in a nutshell. Jack that guard then try for throw or just keep chipping (remember Dizzy does have a ridiculous throw range). Also, the normal that I fear most against Dizzy is her 2HS. I can counter 5k and 2k, but that freaking move has just the right range to stuff darn near everything from Zappa, and IADing with Zappa is always risky business. Truth be told I've played this match many times and what it turns into is the most boring 50 seconds of blocking Dizzy garbage then one of the two of you exploding all over the place. I hate Dizzy, character design and all. Why did Justice die and get replaced by her....
  7. Ummm.. chipping with Raoh is a great idea, because you can't always land that hit (Raoh has NO mixup). Seriously, the last time I played Kenji the only time I wasn't afraid was when he had Raoh. Remember too that you can run under her j2S if she gets all predictable with that.
  8. I'm pretty sure force break is the best move the sword has against Eddie. Becuase it makes the sword go away.
  9. With Raoh, yes. Otherwise.... only situationally but mostly no.

  13. Jump in Roundhouse, Sweep is ultimate mixup. Abandon hope. 6P, 5P, summon as AA. Also remember, May's j2HS is just stupid good. You might have to just block and figure some way out of it later. This is what happens when a generation grows up without ST. Yes I am an old man.
  14. Yeah, for some reason (Stupid Sol) I can't even get an OTG K Ghost on him most of the time. But that's because of everyone in this game having different weights & get up times & hitboxes & face down/face up differences & everything else that keeps people from just picking up GG =).
  15. Hey, you guys are talking to a Pot player (as all people named Dan seem to be...). I started with PoChop and still use him as my backup to this day because he's so easy to use =). You think I got the name danGIEF from not going straight for the guys with command throws? But anyways.... feel free to discuss any matchup, I'll just rename the thread if this one becomes a better source of info that the older ones. And DW, you're right about Raoh. He actually isn't THAT big of an advantage vs Axl because it is still pretty easy to keep Raoh away. But he does have the threat of big damage going for him, and half the time I just try to use his super to do some damage (or set up the unblockable DA that never seems to work. But that's more because I suck. Stay in school!
  16. Yes, green chain is a three hit projectile. It always has been. Axl is probably Zappa's worst matchup (only Eddie comes to mind as being as bad) because of the range. As was stated, you have to play very careful and try to out guess his pokes to get in his face. You can run under 5P (though I can't imagine why any Axl would use that in this match) jS (anticipation needed though) IAD over 2P & 2H DO NOT IAD OVER GREEN CHAIN UNLESS YOU PREDICT EARLY! He'll probably be able to tag you with the followup on reaction. You're better off just FDing it. At least Then you're still neutral unless he's feeling stupid and runs up after an FRC. To the best of my kowledge 5K doesn't beat Axl's 2HS because the hitbox is too big (Zappa isn't as invinicible as you think in that move.... =( ). Best advice was already given. He can't win if he isn't doing damage. Ghosts are your friends. Dog is OK. Sword is failure summon. Raoh is OK once you get in, but can be tricky to do so (please don't run in blind... you'll make all Zappa players cry).

  18. Man... I had no idea that you could use jD to launch mid screen.... I can't believe I never tried that. Man....
  19. That's called "mental toughness" you can't go crazy with Raoh and it's not like you lose the match if he goes away. If they want to run, then chip and throw. Don't let him get in YOUR head, that's not what Raoh is for.

    Also for crossup fun, jD has a similar TINY bit that hits as a crossup late in the animation. Zappa's got tricks.

    Fun note: There actually is a tiny tiny part o the hitbox that can hit from the front so you can make it a really ambiguous cross-up.
  22. Ok, this has replaced the Love Threads for now. And for the time being it will stay open so that everything can get nailed down with AC Zappa. I know, I know... it's like I'm a mod every now and then.

  24. are you sure their guard gauge wasn't flashing or something? Because everything does a little chip when it's flashing. I just find it really hard to believe that the Cartwheel does chip. I mean.... it doesn't do anything else useful without the Dog...
